I’ve seen a Swedish watercolor artist applying masking fluid with a dip pen. What’s your opinion on that? I checked your website for supplies and Jackson’s isn’t available in the US as far as I know, anyway. Any suggestions? Amazing looking eye you painted
Hi, yes dip or 'ruling pens' are a good way to add lines of varying thickness to the paper, mainly sue to the ability to widen or lessen the flow of fluid to the nib. Good for those shorter, finer marks. Paul 🎨

How do you soften your details?
Hi Lisa, I do this with a damp, clean brush, very lightly going over the details. 🤓
Why don’t you use salt here for the nose?
Hi Julia, yes salt is a good idea but I do find it can be tricky to control the little star bursts it creates. You could possibly use this for the first layer then add detail over the top. Paul 🎨
