Too cool. I turned 35 next January and the irony is my dad convinced me to pull my old XL70 out from behind his lean-to to get it running for me and my boys lol. Been working on it and watching all your videos just for ideas and getting refamiliar with an old friend that has been parked for 15-20 years now lol. do you have any kind of Facebook group or anything to share some photos with the community?
I’m not sure how I missed your comments, but I apologize for the late response. Awesome to get your bike going again. I do have a FB page, just search for MiniBike Mikes Garage.
🛑🛑 Great Bike, Mike 👍 That is an Awesome Gift for your son. You get in some unique project bikes. You must have your ear “close to the ground” to find these bikes. Great Video! 💯 I enjoyed the entire process. 👍
Great little bike. I have a cousin to that, a CL70 in boxes and missing a lot of parts. Do you know of a reference for interchangeable parts like tank, seat, front end etc? I would like to build a summer grocery getter.
I don’t know if a written reference, but the CL70 has a very similar frame to an S65, S90, c200, c110, etc. They all use the same size rims/tires also, I would think many parts would swap to each model.
Dude my grandpa has this bike but he left it unattended for for like 40 years and i feel like its beyond repair 😭and i want to repair it to have something to remember him by😭
They're incredibly simple. The biggest difficulty is probably finding some of the parts particular to only these really old Honda's, but they're still out there
Great video you are a great dad your son will love it . Where do you buy your 12v headlight sealbeam for this bike and instrument panel lights bulbs? I'm working on a 68 honda CL90.
I believe the headlight had a replaceable bulb, that we swapped to 12v. I believe you can buy a headlight that uses replaceable bulbs on eBay. All the other bulbs were picked up at my local auto parts store. I took the 6v bulbs down and just matched up similar size 12v versions.
@@MiniBikeMike ok thanks buddy I thought it looked like a sealbeam I’ll take another look at it.thanks for getting back with me. My CL coming along nicely I put a Lifan motor in it and I’m a machinist and a welder. I machined out some custom Motor mounts out of aluminum for it.
I know this sounds like a weird question. But can you share some tips for someone who is completely a noob to bike fixing/restoring scene? I think there are a lot of videos online that explain the procedures. But when it comes to the most mundane things such as what tools to use? What do you call these parts? What to use (or not to use) for cleaning the engine parts and such, the info is so lacking that it's hard for a noob like me to jump in.
I’ve made a note to make a future video, touching on the things you mention. My suggestion, find a beater bike that you’re not going to restore, just make a rider out of it. Use that bike for experimenting with different techniques for cleaning, etc. You can’t really hurt these little bikes. Jump in and have fun.
Uhhh, yeah, it’s a Piranha engine, not a Honda. 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Yep, custom badges replaced the broken originals. I’m not a Honda purist, no need to be limited by original parts.

Emphasis on rebuild and not restore, man my friends and I rode that thing hard and put it up wet when I was a kid 😅

Good content. What do you put in your ultrasonic cleaner? I use carb cleaner but some people use purple power or Lysal.
I bought a gallon bucket of Gunk Carb cleaner. I think you’re supposed to soak your carb in the bucket, but I poured the contents into my ultrasonic.
Original c110 was a push rod engine not a ohc . So that engine is newer
You must be new to the channel, everything we build has newer 12v engines. We build bikes to ride!
No advantage of OHC engine iron engine pushrod far superior.
Yeah, not really a concern. This engine has been going strong for 15 years, so we’re good.
👍👍😎
Thanks.
in watching this because im getting one tomorrow for 125$
Motor is not correct for year, Badges on tank not original
