@ThinkStory There's the sound that is weird but did you also notice that Leighton with bleach tips is dancing around in the Prince dance scene. It cuts to him dancing around without showing Jason or anything else so seems deliberate. If there's two boxes then there's two Jason's that took wives and two trying to get back, but the boxes are in different positions.
Notice how Jay the impostor keeps making these little decisions that will eventually screw everything up as he screwed up in his own world. As episodes go by i am more and more convinced that the message here is, that your life is the direct result of your decisions and that you have to change your thinking and the way you act if you dont like your life, otherwise you'll just keep going on the same path and end up exactly at the same place that you are right now if you keep doing the same things that got you there in the first place. The key, same as in the box, its in your mind and only you can change yourself and your life, even if you could actually switch to another universe but you cant, because this is your life right now, here and now and its the only shot you got. You are always at the correct place, but your life is what you make it to be with how you act.

I've never thought about the possibility of Amanda is sabotaging the choices of Jason. Great theory.
She may even be doing it subconsciously- she has feelings for Jason & wants to be with him. You can’t fool the box!
In the book, Amanda leaves him because she thinks she is sabotaging him subconsciously. She leaves him with 8 doses and takes 8doses with her to find her own way

Impostor Jason actually mentions this to Leighton when explaining the box to him. He tells him to clear his mind because his thoughts could still have an affect even if it's not him opening the box.
I actually think she's just being practical, specially as time is running out, and preparing for a world where them 2 have to be together.

Did anyone else notice the DIFFERENT HOTEL SIGN?
1. After the restaurant dance scene, we saw (original) Jason & Amanda checked into a RED sign hotel
2. After blonde Daniella scene, there was that audible-transition snap, and yet it's still the misplaced Jason & Amanda, but in the same hotel with BLUE sign now
Plus it feels subtly off with the way they act/talk, which led me to suspect it's a 3rd set of J&A. Could be a new world that split off due to the recent choices they make: like what if this is the 3rd set version where Jason & Amanda STAYED in bed together after the dance?
This is actually so much better than the book because you get to see the other side of things with the fake Jason, it’s much better. But man that end when I saw him cement uo the box I was on my own but just went JESUS CHRIST out loud… I was too impatient a few episodes in and read the book in one shot so I’m really glad how much it differs, given the author is the show runner… so glad you’re covering this. It’s not getting enough attention
You forgot to mention that during the dance scene, Leighton (which I believe is the one from Jason's world was there dancing as well.) Might be a foreshadowing that he is the one to bring back Jason to his world by bumping into him by accident in a different version of their world.

Ah, my theory was wrong about Amanda not existing in Jason1's world, thus preventing him (them) from going back there. It's probably her subconscious desires with Jason1 being the better than hers. I figured if Jason2 did look for her, it would be for him to try and have an affair with her, since he seems to want to have the best of both worlds, literally. I'm glad he didn't accidentally kill Charlie. The box door opens from the inside, so I hope he brings a pickaxe or something. There has to be some kind of workaround. Maybe another Jason built his version of the box in another location and he uses his.
I think Ryan 1 and Jason 1 will eventually see each other to help produce more ampoule to get back to the original Earth.
Yes exactly! Jason will think of his friend, and it will bring him where Ryan is trapped at. Also it’s kind of good to know they are in a world where it’s technologically advanced. They have all the resources at their disposal.

My wife said that maybe that's why Jay had so many cell phones in that storage locker, because he takes someone from from their world and puts them in another world and locks them there and takes their phone like he did with Ryan, which is a good theory. Makes you wonder how many people he's done that to. One thing we didn't understand is how is Jason and Amanda paying for things in these other worlds? They made it a point, in the show, to say that money from each world has different types of serial numbers, so how do they keep getting hotel rooms and food? Anyway, love the videos man. Great job.
Good point. I've thought of that as well. Actually this show is so unbelievable I'm having a hard time getting into it and almost stopped watching. For one thing why would Leighton give so much money for those amples just to trip out forever. Plus the main flaw is the mirror mirror concept from Star Trek just doesn't make sense. Even it there were millions of alternate worlds there's no way everyone would have an exact duplicate with duplicate names. I love science fiction but only if I can actually believe the science of it is plausible
@@mythrapi73 You gotta suspend your disbelief but yeah, I thought this too, in alternative worlds maybe your parents ended up with different people and you were never born. Or maybe the same gender as you was born with the same name but it's a different person because people had sex at a different time.
One of my favorite episodes because the slowness was focused on the right type of plot development.

Maybe they didn't reach his universe but maybe they did cross paths with the Leighton from that world who made the deal to start traveling.

He does now know the formula for the medication and in theory how to work the box. And apparently, that box isn't going anywhere, despite what the local authorities think of it.
I love this show and there’s sooo many places this series can go especially when they increase the budget for season 2 … I don’t think it’s Amanda I think it’s both of them together the reason why Jason can’t get home is because he’s growing an attachment to Amanda and I have this feeling that they are becoming each others “Home” and that in the end while his mind tells him he wants to be with his wife and son the reality is Amanda may in fact be his real soul mate … what are the odds he’d find the one person willing to accept all his sides and literally go to hell and back with him and by his side.
Now they are totally setting up there will be other boxes or doorways.
I hope this isn't the case lol.

this show is so lame wouldn't be surprised if he wakes up to find it's all been a bad dream. To me that would make more sense than anything since they don't care anything about making this show even half way believeable. The science is all wrong to the point this is only fantasy

The issue might be that Jayson and Amanda are traveling together. This creates an entanglement between both of them, so I think each will have to "travel" alone, at different times.

The tick is when they switch to a different world, not necessarily a different Jason.
Remember before the tick, Jason found the unmarried artist Daniela with bleached hair.
After the tick, it was a different world where he stalked another version of him and Daniela.

Soooo….did anyone catch Leighton with the shiny jacket Milly rocking at the 19:35 mark when Jason and Amanda were dancing in the bar? Is this the version that just gave 50 mill to bad Jason for the ampoules? He has the blonde tips in his hair
I don’t think Amanda is sabotaging him. We see jaye tell Ryan how he got to the world and says that he thought of the good world and opened the door. I don’t know how much influence the other person has but off his interaction with Ryan one could say that the only person that matters is the person opening the door
he also stated a little later in the conversation its a utopian like world, makes me believe hes thinking through allot more then simple suggestions. Amanda understands the process enough from jaye that theres a little world building involved. reminds me of the dream state architect from inception.

I read the book, so I can see things that can get a lot weirder in the show :D. Blake (the writer) is also adding lots of hooks for possible new seasons.

Hey Thinkstory if you go back to the club dancing scene there is a version of leighton dancing on the dance floor at or around 19:35 minute mark. How did they not recognize each other? 🤔
OK I think I have worked it out. Different amounts of Ampules, the weird sound cue, The field notebook they were given but then never read, etc on top of the fact that we saw a Jason and Amanda that didn't make it to the box and got shot. That means there's a bunch of Jason and Amands who did. We are totally watching different Jason and Amandas getting back to the wife. In the end we will see one who did but then he's there's all the others we have being following who won't or is there a wife for everyone. IDK. But that is the big twist at the end n mic drop moment.

It's likely the photo was simply her reference for the painting.
The possibilities for this series are endless especially if they get a good budget and the writers invest in the character development for each of the lead actors ❤❤❤❤

I think that Jason should go alone if he wants to find his world. I am almost certain that Amanda is the reason that it is not happening, and I believe it is subconscious from her side, she is not doing it on purpose. I am also wondering, if there are infinite number of worlds: is there any chance that the switch of Jason and Jay also happened in other worlds as well? And, is there any world where Jay took different decisions (e.g., the peanut accident did not happen, Daniella did not see the marks, etc.)? Some worlds where he did not seal the box?
Although, I guess from the perspective of the movie, it would be too much to reflect on these worlds, too, and there is a risk for the audience loosing the emotional connection to the characters. But it would definitely make things more complicated.

Given the infinite nature of the multiverse jason concreting the box is meaningless. The original jason just needs to open a door to a world where the second jason never got around to concreting the box. From a probability point of view. The odds of jason 1 opening a door into his original universe is virtually impossible. Too many things have changed since he's been gone.
True, however in those worlds there is no film crew filming it all, or there might be, but they aren't broadcasting interdimensionally, so we will never know. 😄
But what about the fact that Jason 2 went back to his home world at one point.
@KenKidd-to6cf it's never the same universe. It's only similar. It's the same from HIS perspective. There's no such thing as linear reality. It's all a cloud of infinite probability. Every femto second you are moving into the branching foundation of an infinite space. Where you end up is based purely on your actions and the actions of the people and things around you. Free will and determinism mix together to collapse the probability wave function that your brain perceives as your temporal experience of the present. YOUR present isn't THE present.
You're wrong on a couple of counts.
If original Jason did what you're suggesting, he'd end up in a different world regardless.
Jason 2 has concreted the box on HIS (Jasonb1's) world.
The box is not a time machine. It can't take you to a "Time" before the box as sealed.
And the second point, they've already demostrated that a person CAN get back to their original world. Several times now.
Jason 2 went back to his original world to pick up more ampoules that he'd sell to Leighton 2.
And he's taken Leighton 2 to several other worlds and brought him back to Leighton 2's original world multiple times already now.

Because if it was Jason 2 wouldn't have been able to go back to his world to pick up more ampoules now, would he?
And we know he's DEFINITELY gone back to the same universe he started in, because they also left the check mark of Dawn's blood at the door of the box (from when her hand got cut as Jason 1 and Amanda were trying to escape).
Sorry to inform you, but that's all entirely your head canon.

If this show gives us anything it is that anything is possible.
I keep wondering if every effort to get Home is actually changing Home as well as all the other worlds.
Kind of along the lines of asking a genie for infinite wishes...
Don't you think Jason and Amanda could take a few moments to think really hard about a world where the box is in an intact lab with more amoules hanging nearby - much like the world they escaped from? I'm assuming for the box to work, the drug has to be the same in all worlds, so I would think many such worlds would exist, and they wouldn't have to take long to find one. Then, bam - prolonged search time for Jason's actual world.

Waiiit, I’m confused? If Jason A is with Blonde Daniella in that timeline, wouldn’t she recognize him when he went to visit her gallery? Why wouldn’t she go to coffee with her own husband/partned?
@evansonhakeem in that timeline they never met each other. Hence the blonde hair to help the viewer to differentiate the Daniella. Because Jason A knows her facial expressions, then he realised she wasn’t interested and was trying to let him down easy.
I think it’s 3 Jasons or more… later on he met up in the hotel, then left and watched himself with Daniella… I was confused too

also, something similar happened, in ep 5 I think, where the water came in… the way they transitioned the scene from talking to waking up.
After half a season, these transitions has to be done on purpose…
At first I am not really into this show, especially if you have watched Dark. I thought this show is trying hard about time travel concepts. But after watching the next episodes, I eventually loved it. This show is more than time traveling. It is about life. It is about our choices and decisions. It is about all the factors that made us who we are now. It is about the "what if's" in our lives. This show is really a thought provoking.
I like this show but it has a lot of plot holes. For some reason my mind keeps thinking that time will come into play somehow. There’s a corridor with multiple doors but what if there were multiple corridors in a grid. Each corridor is a different point of time. Almost like a storage building. Jason can go back to his world but before he was kidnapped, almost a third Jason but just from a different point of time
The plot holes you're seeing are because you're trying to impose your own head canon as the show's logic when that's not the case.
They've pretty much already explained how the box works and time or time travel doesn't factor into it.
You're not going to see a different Jason from the future or from the past, and the doors are not passageways to different points in time.
I can’t figure how does Jason gets to Jason’s world without any problem.
Great episode, sad that Jason and Amanda wasted allot of the ampules on worlds that had only minor variations of his (the tavern didn't have a red neon sign, they didn't have a dog, Daniella had blonde hair).
Jason 2 is both a genius and a complete idiot. He spends weeks, maybe months stalking Jason 1 learning his life, has both money and tech behind him for research, and he doesn't know Jason 1's son is allergic to nuts? For Daniella, she even said there were a lot of small changes in Jason, but the not knowing your son has a major peanut allergy was impossible for her husband not to know.
I feel bad for Ryan 1, the guy's got less knowledge of what's going on then Leighton 1, but now he's stuck in some techno-futuristic Chicago, with no idea how to get back. Hopefully, what Jason 2 said about it being a "kinder and more progressive world then ours", otherwise Ryan 1 will troubles adapting to this new reality.
My only gripe in this episode is that we didn't see more of what the techno-futuristic Chicago Ryan 1 was on was like or the other worlds that Jason 1 and Amanda 2 travelled too.
I think off screen he kidnapped another Ryan hence the fact he said “it’s other Ryan’s” think it will be a shock moment next episode
well, you asked... so... seems like the sci-fi component is being replaced by relationship dramas. still stuck on the "2 Jason's in the same timeline/world/super position" thing." and, on that subject, are there no penalties for timeline hopping... having a difficult time caring about the characters, both Jason's are always some sorrowful combination of sad and confused, "dark" Jason is sometimes angry.
Amanda is the reason Jason cant get back look how when Jason 2 brings someone else into the box he tells them to take deep breaths and clear their minds as to not influence were Jason 2 is taking them…

He might go to where Leighton is sick and dying, and try to take care of him. However, without money, his options are limited. He should have taken something valuable with him. He probably did, since he look so confident.
@@pandaren_brewmasterHow much gold do you reckon he could carry inconspicuously. If the worlds are similar enough to ours, ten pounds could sustain him for a few years. Or if he’s got the evil in him, enough to pay a guy to disappear another rich Leighton and secure a home base for his travels. He could even find another Ryan to recreate the drug. He doesn’t need another Jason at all.

(Then again, Jason and Amanda appear to be successfully committing fraud with their own credit cards in this latest world, so who knows?)

When Jason and Amanda open a door thats got concrete over it they’ll know that they’ve reached Jason 1’s world. Someway or another that concrete box so coming down. Another can be Jason and Amanda find a new good world and start living there. But making two different storylines will just confuse and ruin the show.
There is no way J is gonna be able to make things work. He has missed too much plus based the choices he has made in his life in his world he is a totally different person from the original Jason. And u can't just study up on 15 years of personal life experiences.
Also I think as long as Amanda is with Jason he will never make it back home because the box will always know each person's desires and she has never been to his world so she can never sink with Jason's desires. Also J when traveling with another person always tell them to clear their mind so that he can control the destination of the box
I don't understand why BOTH Jason and Amanda need to explore each world. This uses two ampoules of the drug. Why doesn't Jason convince Amanada to stay behind in the box not taking a dose and let Jason explore each world. This would give him twice the attempts. I assume Amanda wouldn't agree though!

@@revstrading Why not? Surely if Amanda stays where she is and Jason exits the box and then comes back in a hour or two (after checking the world out) why wouldn't she still be in the box? Where would she have gone?

@@jimgardner6394 Because at some point they have to close the door to go to a new world. closing the door does nothing until they then take the drug.
To be able to stay behind in the box she still needs the drug though. The drug is what enables the superposition. If anything she would need to stay behind in one of the many worlds.

How does the box actually work? Why doesn’t it disappear after they “leave”, is the box persistent across multiple quantum superposition experiences, or is each person creating their own version of the box. How would two people experience the same box? If they go to a world that already has a box in the same exact position are there actually two boxes in the exact same spot? Sorry, logic always screws with fiction.
Oh, and what happens if two people in the box both open a different door at the exact same time?
The box only disappears if it didn't exist in the world before.
If it already did (i.e it had been created) then that's the box they come through.
At least that's how I read it.

Painfully slow episode. I've skipped through it mostly.

This was the first episode I found really interesting.
After a painfully slow start the show is beginning to find its feet.
Good to see Daniella getting some agency for the first time.
im still usnure about this show. its very slow and plodding. feels like little has happened since episode 1.
Then you haven't been paying attention. Since the first episode there has been murder, killer insects, floods, multiple apocalypses, betrayal, budding romance, near filicide, and much more.

It's not very good, but it's finally starting to move forward as Jason's attempts to find his way back home become more successful.
My guess is he'll finally manage it next episode.
