To me Testament is criminally underrated as a band. Musically, lyrically they've held on to Trash more so than Metallica has (they lost that badge when Load was released). Eric and Alex are two of the most dynamic guitarist ever to take on the instrument. Greg is a badass on bass, Chuck is a helluva singer. Louie was a killer drummer who sadly left the bad due to health issues. Paul was a great replacement, but honestly the beast that is Gene is one of the best!
Metallica lost that badge with the release of the ''Black'' album. Love Testament, ''Practice What You Preach'' is one of the best albums to jam to with headphones on.
Skolnick & Peterson have never sounded so AWESOME together! I remember buying "The Legacy" on cassette tape back in 1987 and seeing them in concert countless times. I'm so excited that they are still making fresh, relevant music; taking chances and not "cashing in" like they could have. Testament are one of the best bands, of any genre, ever.
Gene is the nicest guy and a really genuine and humble guy. Also a monster of a drummer. He did help teach Dave Lombardo double bass so no wonder he has fast feet. All the guys are super nice. Exceptional musicians. Ive always been a big testament fan.
He also taught Steve Flynn of Atheist some double bass technique. Who is of course a legend in his own right. Gene is seriously a metal drumming pioneer
Chuck actually came to Holland with the guys from Exodus (DDP) to play the SMALLEST show you've ever seen! It was in a small town, and we where there with about 40 guys in total. It was AMAZING! I talked to Steve outside for a good 2 hours, drinking beers and shit. The guys in Testament and Exodus and DDP are STILL true metalheads, and they are just supercool guys who deserve WAY more press and respect, and YOUR money for their albums and shirts!
I met Erick back in 2010 in Caracas, Venezuela, he is a very friendly guy, I was working in the front at the gig, doing air guitar, which he seems to enjoy when he see me. Got a pick from him.
Seeing Testament again with Kreator and Anthrax in November, can't wait.been a testament fan for over 20 years. got into them buying the album the Very Best of Testament cause I thought the album cover was cool, safe to say i definitely didn't regret that purchase 🤘🤘
It really baffles me why ANTHRAX ''belongs'' to the Big 4.....Really.......TESTAMENT made way more consistent albums than those chumps......Don't get me wrong I'm an ANTHRAX fan but their hit to miss ratio is really laughable......TESTAMENT's experimental record ''Demonic'' was not that stellar, but at least it was a compelling Death Metal album
Like the one person stated on here “record sales” plain & simple, I’ve never been an Anthrax fan but ya Testament,Exodus, Overkill are definitely legendary thrash bands when it comes to American thrash metal. I’m Canadian & grew up with thrash/death metal/hard rock bands such as Voivod,Razor,Exciter, Annihilator,Quo Vadis,Cancer Bats,3 Inches Of Blood,Unleash The Archers,Helix,Anvil, Thundermug,I Mother Earth,The Tea Party,Our Lady Peace,54•40,Monster Voodoo Machine,Slaughter & not the American Slaughter the Canadian Slaughter,The Guess Who,Steppin Wolf,BTO,Triumph,Rush,Varga,Sven Gali etc etc etc
its because they came before Testament, literally that. Anthraz were around in 1983 and Testament didnt release anything till 1987. thats why. had they released stuff 3 years before they would for sure be above Anthrax. so sad :'(
I know this album isn't everyone's cup of tea, but I honestly think this and Formation of Damnation are up there with their classic albums and maybe even higher. (Probably not by much, though.)
Low is prob my fave Testament album. Too many good songs to have 1 fave tho, maybe "Trial by Fire", "Low", Souls o Black" Love their cover of Areosmiths "Nobody's Fault" too Testament live was also something to see
Best band period . Not even up for discusion . The music rocks today as it did 25 years ago . Where Metallica is it should be TESTAMENT . The best band in the world .
When he talks about that heavy vibe that you get when you are in a place that is built in the 1600's and even older he is so fucking right on. I spent two weeks in Norway and I stayed at this old hotel that could have had fucking vikings back in the day. Some of the shit I came up with I never would have thought of back home. It really does make a difference.
HI Mike. First off, congrats on 400 subs. I will have to look into getting that Contract in Blood book. I'm only familiar with Xentrix and Onslaught (when it comes to UK Thrash bands), so it will be interesting reading about the other bands. The CD set looks interesting, too. Yes, you pronounced my name correctly, haha. Always good to see people picking up stuff I show and talk about in my vids and that Testament CD got alot of response, as most people hadn't heard of it before. Glad you found it for a great price.
The true 4th member of the so called " big 4" . Nowadays there's probably only 2 real members of the western thrashers in Slayer and Testament. True to form and true to thrash.
I met Eric and Alex Chuck , Louie and greg in 1987 At the Dynamo Open Air Festival. Stryper was the headling act if im not mistaken.. Alex Periales's birthday, and he did the sound that day. It was raining like crazy all day, but they really tore the place up. The night before they played at the Dynamo club.. images of that night are in the official video 'Over The Wall' and the images and footage at Alcatraz
Greg Christian's bass always sounded 'Killer' to me on the earlier albums. Like the bass intro on 'Souls of Black'. That Buttery, Rubber-bandy sounding tone from his bass was killer! Guess he had to tune real low, Very underrated bass player
man, it's so weird seeing gene saying eric was teaching him stuff, i mean, back in 97 gene had already played and recorded with dark angel and death, that being, he had two big names under his belt, he was already the beast that he is today
First band I ever saw, when they opened for Maiden waaay back in the day... every song they were like "ok guys, now we are going to get a little heavier" lol... Right after I bought Souls of Black, admittedly just because the cover was cool. Little did I know what I was getting into!
And which of the "big 4" do you think don't deliver? People take this "big 4" thing way too seriously..it's not like it's official or something. It was basically a mini tour lineup, nothing more nothing less.
I saw them in 84 with Anthrax in Pensecola Florida There was another band but don't remember their name. Me and my friend drove from Fort Walton Beach Florida to see them. I wasn't Familiar with where the theater was (the same theater that Stevie Ray Vaughn shot a video in before he died), and as we were driving around looking we saw some guys dressed in Denim and leather and said they must be going to the concert. We pulled up and asked them where the theater was and they said it was just a block away in the opposite direction. After we pulled away, my fried said, "That was Anthrax" I went back around, to see them again but they had vanished
the temperature rises all the time due to nature (i dont have the knowledge to explain it right now, google it otherwise) but in later times humans have definitely contributed to the warming
These guys are amazingly hard rockers but the individual members are beyond laid back and seem to be VERY down to Earth. Chuck and Eric are so easygoing; They are The Eagles of Thrash Metal. It is a CRIME that Testament are not given the credit that they deserve. Their lyrics are phenomenal too; I don't mind dark talking about War and things like that, the darkness that I mind is the deathly/satanic darkness which is done by bands like Megadeth, Slayer, Anthrax, and Metallica. It's not the genre that's Satanic, nowadays the material is what you make of it no matter what genre it's in. These guys recognize that and understand that ethic which is phenomenal! They deserve the nod from the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame, BIG TIME. Music doesn't create itself, it's the conductors of the material that control what the output is. It's one thing 2 write about Satan which is bad enough, but it's a whole different ball game when you write about that kind of crap & actually JOIN in that as well.
I met testament out by my house an wacht um maken native blood video ... I feel laim cause I was dressed dorky cause I new it was going to get cold a little an bout a sweat shirt ansome gay hat cause I had an infection on my head I had a head ach an I also had a million cigs an felt retarded but I lv the guys ... I dont smoke anymore thank god .... I was frozen an didnt know what to say to um ive never been to a real consert since I was a kid ... I was rased by testament ... Thank you~
earth been around for billions of years and it if would have been the sun alone causing global warming by now this place would have been hoter than hell, its only recently the temperature started to rise
Eric Peterson is an underrated riff-master!
Thank you, Sir, for your tireless contributions!🔥👍😎🤘
one of the best thrash metal albums I've ever heard
I 've followed testament since I kid. They kept me sane through a fucked up part of my life... Thank You Gb..
😎
I saw these guys in concert in Kansas City, MO November 1st, 2013. I bought dark roots at that concert and a guitar pick. Best thing I ever picked up.

Always been a huge testament fan! They never disappoint! Glad to see Greg back!!!! And gene is the atomic clock!!!!!

He also taught Steve Flynn of Atheist some double bass technique. Who is of course a legend in his own right. Gene is seriously a metal drumming pioneer

One of the best metal bands ever!! Legendary!! 🤘☢🤘
Everybody respects Testament but they never truly get their due. Just a great metal band.
Testament is a must see live band. I saw them open for Judas Priest and saw them headline the limelight in nyc. Loved it.
..."Testament".... ALLLLL the way. Still kicking it hard. \m/ Thrash geniuses and one of my long standing ultimate favs.
Outstanding album.
Alex can't play jazz as good as he does metal!!! When he plays jazz, every note sounds so heavy. He is just a testament spy in the world of jazz. :)

Because Anthrax has sold more. Simple.
it has absolutely nothing to do with consistency rather album sales.

Old looking - cool rocking. Nice production leads to a very good product. Thank for sharing.

Such a under rated band.

And yet tabs to any of the songs (especially the title track) are non existent. Sucks cause some of it's way too fast to figure out.
I don't know man, this is a great album but The Legacy and New Order are still their best.
