Hi Joseph, I was going to order some of Martin Seddon’s LeCleach flare horns driven by my Lowther drivers. I may want to build these instead. Would it work out if 16ga. steel damped on the back side with rubberized undercoating? I could then easily do a continuous curve and skip weld stiffeners to the backside.
Waiting to see some measurement curves. also polars. It's a challenge to make a compression driver to go from 300 to +10kHz. So what about a horn from 800Hz as that makes it possible to do 2-way + dual sub setup. Possible drivers JBL D2430K (344$) or Eminence N314X-8 (345$) or with a 1" throat possible 5530/31ND.
Conical are more similar to constant directivity type of horns which a almost exclusively used in live sound reinforcement. They have a unique constant coverage regardless of frequency. The trade off is some horn colouration due to the reflections off of the horn mouth. In terms of sound quality it’s very well documented that this has a detrimental affect.
@@JosephCrowesDIYSpeakerBuilding okay then. If you haven't, I'd encourage you to check it out. It's such a great peace of software. A lot of features and improvements have been made recently.
Excellent, thanks for the upload, I'm tempted to build this to replace the summer rain
Nice work Joseph ! Keep it up !!

Nice
How would these do as top section for a small reggae sound you think?
Would have them over 12 inch ported mid highs.
Yes, using a good compression driver will yield a maximus SPL of around 105dB SPL at 1m if distortion is to be kept below 0.56% (-45dB).
what are the advantages and disadvantages of conical horn as used by OMA imperial speaker

Hi, so this horn mates well with the B&C 8PE21? Thanks.
I would suspect this would be a good combination. The 8PE21 was excellent in the Summer Rain Horn.
Would you recommend thee B&C 8PE21 for mid range duty like the summer rain and what range do you think it could cover
You can email me at Joseph_crowe@josephcrowe.com
I have direct experience with that driver. It’s very good.
@@JosephCrowesDIYSpeakerBuilding Thank you I will for sure
Would my DX3s be good in this configuration?
Can this horn be made smaller 14x14
Is there a plan for that tall speaker with this Horn in the middle ?
Sorry no it was just a quick rendering for inspiration. There is a finished design called the Sabourin 1309 if you look it up.
Hi Joseph, do you use Ath for designing horns?
I use Hornresp for some of the design. The rest is trial and error based on actual testing through acoustical measurement and listening.
