    The old saying: buy cheap, buy twice. I do appreciate you having to watch your budget at time of building though.
    I love watching people like pops working. I’d like to be able to work like that but I’m a bit dopey/clumsy 😂

    Looking at the cabling u might want to consider increasing the size, the lower the voltage the higher the current , hence the right size cabling is a must to prevent fire risk etc, a smoke alarm and easy access to isolate would help aswell

    Hiya. Your dad is a saviour ... But please please please get him to change the cheep respectable fuse in the wheel arch... you're better off replacing it with a better quality fuse.. they tend to have a habit of not tripping at the required ampage..

    Hey up mi duck! Sounds like a learning experience, well done fixing the problem.
    I’m currently installing a DC to DC charger for my Ibex trailer from my truck for off grid camping.

    I hope your alternator is up for the job. I got Orion TR 18 in my Ford Transit, and I will get another charger but the new one as these old TR ones have a tendency to overheat and then lower the output.

    It might be worth getting your dad to draw up a few simple wiring diagrams in case you're somewhere and you have another problem. At least you would have something to show another leckie. All the best,

    Interesting bit at 24:22 where it looks like you can see 2 cables wrapped around a heat sink. Not great 😠

    You could have got the non isolated DC-DC charger as the battery and charger use the same ground i.e the vans chassis. Non isolated is for when they don't share a common ground. (Just friendly advice BTW)

    • @nicklevitt2101
      @nicklevitt2101 10 часов назад

      The van is wired isolated. We don’t share a common ground between the vehicle electrics and the van accommodation electrics. didn’t want the chance of setting up earth loop issues with the vehicles computers and the living area electrical systems. especially with the inverter 12vdc negative. You use more cable but my piece of mind.
      Pops.

    Return the Orion TR and buy the XS, its smaller and more powerful but doesn’t overheat. Watch Mispronounced adventures he has to add a fan to keep it charge at 30A. Buy Fogstar batteries and Victron electrics. You will always be good. Buy from 12v planet they offer great advice

    The more complicated the electric s the more chance of something going rong I'm afraid.

    Wow , clever dad , I have a question for dad = yes I know it’s naughty of me but promise I will stand on the naughty step for at least ten minutes, so can I borrow you dad’s brain for a moment? Payment will be a bad joke at the end of message or probably short story , I was thinking about building a sand battery for the green house with PTC elements roughly six elements which have two wires with each element so is there a junction box I could use to connect 12 wires in total and then get an item that I could get that when I plug it into the 240 volt socket this item whatever it is will reduce it to the 12 volt needed for the PTC elements , sorry for long message or short story but obviously only a little sorry , I know you’re waiting for the brilliant joke = how do you stop a fish from smelling = cut it’s nose off , yes I know it was worth the wait , take care sweet soul = it had to be me .
