If you had used an eqmod cable from the hand controller port to the asi air you wouldn't need the hand controller at all and you also don't need to do even a one star alignment. That's standard on all skywatcher mounts when using it with an asi air
Greetings Mr Morris! Not too many videos the include this mount. I have a question about it, maybe you can know. If I ran power IN to the Aux power in, and then ran a power OUT to the mounts main power in, could I safely power the mount in this manner. The Idea is to reducer the wire clutter hanging off the front of the mount. Thoughts?
Yeah I don’t see why you couldn’t do that. I would double check the voltage output of that port if you have other items running from the front hub also like camera etc to make sure your getting 12 volts out to each device then it would be safe to do it. Otherwise you might need a regulator.
@@StevenMorrisPhotography Quick Little update. I received my 15v 6A regulated PSU and PegasusAstro GX12 Power connecter (for main mount Power in). I ran 15v 6A to Aux Power in, and using a 12v out ran the GX12 power connector to the mount (does this even make sense? lol) This does indeed power the mount, although haven't been able to do any real world testing (clouds/rain), seems to be fully operational. The benefit here to me, is the power in is not moving around as the mount slews, and I can keep the cable from aux out to main mount power in short that there is no snags, and long enough that there is full range of motion. Next up to test would be to see if there is plenty of power support to add in an ASIAir with an ASI2600 powered camera. If so, the real benefit here is that all cabling is contained along the OTA.
Oh beautiful, the setup sounds like it’s all coming along nicely. I don’t think your going to have a problem with the power to your camera etc. I do agree it does help with less snags. Keep me updated to the rest of your progress 😊
Sad news about the twins & you leave us hanging lol, I guess we'll find out in the next instalment. You still managed to capture a nice image though mate clear skies
So I use Astro Pixel Processor for stacking and PixInsight for the majority of my image editing as I have a series of custom processing icons. This image a used a bit of photoshop also for a more aggressive noise reduction because of the lack of cooling. I haven’t made any processing videos in a long time, I don’t feel like I’m an expert at processing but all I do is make sure my colours are aligned, stretch the image a bit, maybe remove the stars and do some curves adjustments on the background image then put all the stars back. I used to do Star reduction but I don’t anymore. Hope that helps a little.
Omg if only there was such a thing for the rasa, manually changing filters means no sleep during an imaging session. Imagine the difference that would make having a electronic filter wheel for a change.
I couldn’t agree more, the more money spent striving for perfection we tend to do the opposite and make things worse. Then we go back to a small refractor with a dslr lol

Excellent, thank you for the information. I’m still unfamiliar with the skywatcher mounts.
Nice image with only 3 hours of data. Just found your channel. Subscribed 😀.
Thank you very much, I’ve repaid the favor and subscribed to yours too 😊
Nice capture of the Pencil nebula. That whole region has a lot interesting stuff to image.
Thanks mate, it most certainly does. I can’t wait to get the…. Twins…. Onto it 😉
@@StevenMorrisPhotography 🤫🤣
I love the pencil Nebula I have a widefield version, Thanks for your vid mate
Awesome mate, it’s a first time imaging for me so I’m looking forward to getting more time on the region

@@StevenMorrisPhotography thanks for the response! I'll explore this a bit more and I'll let you know what I come up with. ~Clear Skies

Thank you very much mate, image still came out well. Lucky I have the 150 to image with, I still love my RASAs.
Intrigued with what has happened to the twins now!
I’m waiting on a new camera
Great video Steve. How do you post process? Photoshop? Have you made a video on processing?

Looking forward to seeing a Filter Wheel on the Skywatcher Esprit 150! Manual filter changes on the RASAs - ancient history!

You upgraded to RASA 14!
Omg I wish I did!
I'm sad the RASA's may be gone, but the Esprit 150 is a serious piece of kit. At least you can say goodbye to all the backfocus/tilt nightmares...
But I love backfocus / tilt issues lol. The Esprit 150 is a weapon that’s for sure, I should get a cooled camera on it instead of the Z7
@@StevenMorrisPhotography I'm still struggling with the Epsilon/m-zero combo. The more you spend the harder this stuff becomes!

I dont care about the Rasa's, gimme
the 150 all night long🤣😛
