How to Access "DEBUG" on PS4 (A Sims 4 Tutorial)

- In this tutorial you will learn to access the "DEBUG" (Live Edit Objects) menu items on PS4. Disclaimer: I am not an expert. These tips are just what work for me. Hopefully they will work for you too! Happy Simming!
Steps to access live edit objects on Sims 4:
1. From build mode change the lot to a Generic Lot
2. Press L1+R1 and L2+R2 Simultaneously
3. Enable testingcheats true
4. Enable bb.showliveeditobjects
5. Enable bb.showhiddenobjects
6. Access the live edit objects under the objects by function (Chair)
7. Choose Generic Items
8. Choose Generic Items on far left (if you have a lot of the packs, it could take some time to load the menu. Be Patient :)
IMPORTANT. You must not have a Sim living on the lot while you’re building and you need to go to the “i” in the top left corner and change the lot type to GENERIC for this to work!

I just tried this on PS5 and it works! Oh my gosh, thank yooou so much!
For those struggling on PS4 and PS5; The most important part here is to not build on your lot until AFTER putting all of the cheat codes in.
Once you've entered all of the cheats mentioned in this video, you'll be able to go into Venue Info and then Lot Type, then click on the bar that say Venues when you put the cursor on it and click it, and you'll see the full list of lot types in the drop down menu.
As of writing this there are currently 29 lot types beginning with Residential and ending with Wedding Venue.
The Generic lot type is 8th down the list.
Then go to Objects by Function, and sure enough, right at the bottom of the category list you'll see Generic Items right below Transportation.

Thank you very much! This is a huge help, it's a pain to look for debug items in consoles. Also you can use all the "bb." cheats without "testing cheat" and it won't disable trophies :D they mention it as tips in the loading screen

I can’t believe it 😮 I have been trying NO JOKE! 2 years!!! I JUST found your video! I know you’ve gotten a million thank yous but, sincerely, thank you! I think my problem was not putting the cheats in the right order, as well as not knowing about the generic lot type. I was also putting in ignoregameplay cheat. Idk if that had anything to do with it or not. But yeah! Thank you a million times over!
I see a lot of PS and Xbox players saying it doesn’t work I had(still) the exact same issue but a simple way around this is using the gallery and searching the item u want or simply searching “Debug”
I just did that and it working
actually so incredibly grateful, it feels like the game is meant to be harder on console at times, lol
Thank you so much! I knew the cheats, but trying to find specific items was a pain. Changing to a generic lot helped, as did looking for the stuff under generic items. All the years I've spent in this game I never noticed the generic items tab. Lol

Somewhere in the comments someone said that there can’t be any sims living on the lot and it has to be generic. I haven’t tried it out yet but it might work
Yeah I was having trouble but I found out you have to change the lot to generic first. if you have a sim in the lot you will have to move them out fist. then do the cheats I just try it out and it work immediately!

I have done what you said but I cannot select the generic option on house lot. It only gives me the residential option
Make sure that you go into the lot straight from map to build mode. There cannot be any sims living on the lot. If there are sims on the lot, you will need to move them to a different lot in order to change the one you are building on to the generic lot type.

Thank you for posting this. I was so confused why the same inputs weren't working on ps4 as on pc. Very frustrating to deal with. Thankfully, i have a build only save so i can me around with chests more safely then try importing the lot vid the gallery.

At first i couldnt change Residential to Generic but then i read the comments and someone said that option is only available if no sim lives on the plot. So i evicted my sim, tried again and it worked!

Yes, you need to make the lot type Generic before you build on it. I tried bulldozing my lot and that didn't allow me to change the lot type. So, I went to a different empty lot to test this out and it worked!

Remember start in build mode. Make sure no family lives on the lot. Switch the lot type to Generic. Type in the cheat codes: testingcheats true, then bb.showliveeditobjects. Then in the build menu select objects by function. Next choose Generic Items. Everything should be there for you. Hopefully this helps. Good luck.

This has never worked for me on ps4/5 :/ I can access debug items but can’t see a generic items tab. I physically have to scroll through all items to find debug stuff idk why it doesn’t work for me

To shrink or enlarge an object hold both L2 and R2 at the same time, then use the left and right arrow keys on the D-Pad.

I’ve just tried this and noticed I have some base game items such as cars that arnt appearing in my list but others are showing like a model of a baby 🤨

There cannot be any Sims living on the lot. Best way is to enter the lot from Manage Worlds.

I found a glitch where if you add a keyboard and mouse to console debug works not unknown debug and without this keyboard and mouse this was amazing advise
Help!!! I can't get the generic items to come up! What am I doing wrong? I've typed in all the cheats testing cheats is on... I've tried doing it in live mode then going onto build mode but that option just won't show up... please help!! Wow one of the cheats worked and it added all the frogs and space rocks thanks for that... but still no generic items... sorry for the long comment 😅.
Make sure that there are no sims living on the lot. Go into the lot straight from the map to build mode.

There are some cars included with the base game. Unfortunately it can be hard to find them because the menu is not organized.
My cheat box wont open ...I literally tried to hold down the trigger buttons a several times but still it just won't work for me. Any advice ?
Are you holding them down or just pressing them (all) just once at the same time?

If the other items are there, then the buildings should be there as well. Unfortunately there is no way to filter the items.
I got everything except the packs only comes with base packs still great video! Do you have to own the packs?

You press the bottom 2 trigger buttons and then press d-pad right to make it smaller and d-pad left to make it bigger
