From what I understand collectively about moving out villagers: About every ~15 days (give or take) someone will want to move out. So if you're lucky (or unlucky) about two villagers will want to move out a month. If you choose to ignore the thought bubble, it has a chance of moving to someone else. Don't abuse, hit, or complain on the villager that you want to leave. Neglecting your villagers CAN play a part, but from experience it doesn't always work. (Ex: Marina moved out even though I constantly talked to her & sent her gifts via mail/in person. Which makes me think that neglect may not work 100% efficiently.) The villager personality that move out will become more common, & encountering the same villager isn't rare. If you get a campsite villager, complain about someone & there's an increased chance for the for that villager to be kicked out by the one in the campsite.

Idk how much this helps but, you’ll know they want to leave because the thought bubble will (normally) be over their head as soon as you start the game and won’t disappear until you talk to them. From what I’ve heard others will disappear when you walk into buildings etc. Also correct me if I’m wrong I just think from what I’ve heard that this is the case!
I got the villager I didn't want with the thought bubble in like less than 20 minutes. Absolutely wonderful guide, this is the most effective one I've seen for this! And wonderful island too, penguins are just the best aren't they.

@Gigawatt I recently got specific Amiibo Cards, and asked my brother to chose one villager he wanted and I would pick the other (he doesn’t play, but he likes knowing what I’m up to). He chose Harry and I chose Lolly for Amiibo cards, and I gotta say, Harry really is the worst. Whenever I look for him, he’s not there. Whenever I find him, and finally get a chance at conversation, it’s always the most disinteresting dialogue lines within the game. But I keep him anyways, because he’s my brother’s amiibo and I know it means a lot to him that he’s got a part in my island. (I’m totally going to kick Harry out as soon as I get his photograph though)

Just want to show my appreciation for this video I used this exact method without time travel and within 5 real life days I got one of my first five villagers to move out! Just to note there is a chance that the bubble can remain stuck on a villager for a couple of days because I had the bubble on Henry for two days in a row, but after that I got Cranston to move out and was able to go island hopping and found Broccolo after about 20 tickets! I’m super happy right now! 😊
Love your videos! Just to add, you CANNOT kick out your latest villager. In order to kick out the most recent villager you have, you have to trigger another villager before the latest one for them to leave. I learned this the hard way when I wanted rodney, my latest villager, to leave but every time i time travelled it kept triggering audie or sherb or phoebe (all came before rodney). Once i DID let audie leave and invite a new villager, only then the game allows rodney to have the option to leave ;w; i time-travelled 2 years forward without this knowledge at first. never again.
I was reading something earlier where someone mentioned you can make a villager leave faster if you talk to them a lot and give a lot gifts and they'll be fulfilled and wanna move to broaden their horizons, lol. It worked for me!
Just a little PSA for everyone I have spent somewhere around 9+ hours trying to move out a specific villager, and ive tried everything. The only reason that they should stay is because of the fact that they were the most recent resident to move to my island. What ive resorted to doing is giving up a villager that I love, then making my unwanted villager my 2nd most recent villager, and now giving her the ability to move out. If your having trouble with a villager, just know you may have to give up a good villager or a different villager
My most recent villager is the one that keeps trying to move but I love her. It's my first camper that won't leave. I didn't want him in the first place but the game won't let you NOT invite them T_T
Ugh I’m trying to get her to leave too, she was one of my 5 starter villagers. I fenced her house completely up and she MANAGED to escape. There was literally no opening for her to get out so idk how she even got out

Omg THANK YOU. I’ve been trying to get rid of gaston for weeks. Literally all my villagers were perfect until he came in uninvited and took my last villager spot.
based on my personal experience, the villager that wants to leave are the ones you used to constantly talk to/give gifts to on a daily basis. when the day comes where you just forgot to check on them or stop giving them gifts, that’s when they have the thoughts to leave! it happened to 3 of my villagers i have the highest friendship points with! that’s what i experienced so it may not be accurate either.
Alizz but the point is not to talk to that villager at all for the thought bubble to transfer to another villager the next day. By talking to the villager at all he screwed it up
Oof, I needed this video yesterday. Maybe if I had known earlier, then I could transfer the thought bubble to someone that randomly moved in. I only had Goldie for a few days (about 3 or 4) and she already wanted to leave, so this video could have been useful back then. (눈‸눈)
Kyle yesterday: gurl, i wanna leave me, thinking of this method: closes game instantly, hoping for someone else wanting to leave the next day Kyle today: gurl, i wanna leave nOOoooOoOo
Another way to check if a thought bubble means someone wants to leave or if they just want to sell you something or give you something is if you just go in a building and go back outside. If they still have the bubble, that means they want to leave.
Once one of my villagers had the thought bubble, I talked to them....and they said "Hey, Rose! Good news, I decided I’m going to move away. Don’t worry, I already decided so you don’t need to put any though into it.” I legit cried because it was Diana-
WHY COULDN'T YOU UPLOAD THIS EARLIER! I literally had someone that was "thinking" of moving out, but I wanted to keep him, so I TALKED TO HIM and told him to stay. Now I'm sad.
Tagback, thank you so much for your help. I had been trying for TWO weeks to get rid of rodney simply by shunning him, but with this method that bane of my existence is leaving my island. Cannot thank you enough!
Thank you so much TagBackTV. This trick does indeed work for me. Rosie, one of my villagers, had the "moving out" thought bubble yesterday. I did what you said and while Rosie didn't have that thought bubble anymore later during that same day, I didn't interact with her until the next day. The next day, the thought bubble moved towards Puddles, one of my other villagers and the only other villager I actually wanted to rid of left on my Island (lucky me and yesterday I had Roald on my campsite and I convinced him to replace Erik, the second to last villager I wanted to get rid of.). I'm looking forward to eventually find Puddles's replacement on the Mystery Islands with the over 80,000 something Nook Miles I've saved up, lol. Thanks again man, you're awesome.
Yesterday I did a bit of a risky move and hit my villager who was having a thought bubble (for leaving of course) with a net and then talked to them in order to bring up some interaction with them, as they had it for the second day in the row. Today the thought bubble has moved to another villager. I hope this information helps others.
I'm gonna risk it and try this!! My girl Gala has had the moving bubble for 3 days and I don't want her to go. Did it end up working out with getting it to the villager you wanted?
just wanna thank you for this video because i was able to move my bubble on to elise and went villager hunting and found marina as her replacement, a HUGE upgrade
In my experience with testing, interacting frequently, or not at all, has made zero difference as to who the thought bubble goes to. I've been trying to get Coach to move out, and I've only spoken to him once when he first moved in. It's been over a months worth of transferring that bubble from person to person, and it would go to villagers that I've been closest to multiple multiple times.. I talked to each person I wanted to keep to ensure they didn't feel neglected and gifted them each day, but this made no difference. 30ish days later, Coach finally wants to leave.. I think that regardless of your friendship level or how little you interact with someone, it's still completely random. Pushing them, hitting them, sending garbage, using pitfalls, etc, is a complete waste of time. From what I've seen so far, its a mix between some kind of RNG and a minimum wait time on that thought bubble to appear on someone random.
So I wanted to kick Winnie off my island and this vid conviniently came on my recommendations. And 3 minutes in I see Winnie with a thought bubble and she said she wanted to move out! How magical!
Is it possible that the “trash” your villagers reference is just the weeds and DIY recipes and miscellaneous stuff strewn about the island or are you pretty confident it’s caused by the actual trash bag item?
@@ronnycrawf2441 not throwing shade at all; I know he needs to time travel to create the content, so I'm just curious if when the villagers reference trash that's what they're considering since it is detrimental to your island rating as well... we're all theorizing but I just have a hard time believing a specific craftable item is what makes them not like living there over the weeds and dropped items.
@@electricfishfan True, but at that point in the game your island isn't full up to 10, so they wouldn't ask to leave in that case regardless, so it's tough to know. I meant more it's a detriment to getting a 5-star rating, so maybe that's what they're referencing in addition to the dropped items...? /shrug
@@electricfishfan hmm very interesting... yeah who knows. Just logically it would stand to reason that a specific craftable item wouldn't have that dramatic an affect on villagers, but who can say.
Gotta say, this did work for me! It is annoying to wait for a thought bubble that's moving out (not a gift), but it'll happen. And it is definitely random, so just wait to see who it is every day. Also, no one has a thought bubble if there's a campsite visitor, FYI.
I spent 4 hours trying to kick out Olaf (i had a plot open and he moved in after a friend kicked him out) and i got every single villager asking to move out at least 3 times(each) while olaf was just chilling there watering flowers or chasing bugs. i've never been so upset at a game before
haha, that's a nightmare. at that point I would try and find ways to make it land on him, harass him, pitfall traps, really anything that will make them made should start making a difference.
I'm pretty sure villagers that just moved in won't get thought bubbles- You have to kick someone else out and then move Olaf. In my experience of time travelling constantly and getting villagers w thought bubbles, the recent move in has *never* got them. You might be stuck w Olaf unless you're willing to part w someone else. **edit:** either that or it's a really low chance but personally I never had it happen to me.
I’ve been able to kick out every undesirable villager EXCEPT Olaf 😭 I do the one month and back time traveling method and it works!!... except with Olaf 😣
On the day a camper I liked visited my island, Jeremiah (one of my favorites) had the excited interaction where they see your character and run to talk to you, it was to tell me he was thinking of leaving T-T. I have 5 villagers I don't care about anymore and none of them seem to want to go.
thank you so much! I like to play the game day by day and I never want to time travel. This is a video I have been looking for :D thank you so much :D looking for more day by day vids in the future
Also I don’t think that’s possible because if you have a plot of land already someone will go there And the game makes you invite villagers to progress
Just timeskip a lot. I’ve replaced more than 20 villagers and only have 1 villager from my original 10 (Fang was my 8th villager). If you’re _that_ desperate to get rid of them, just timeskip forward 7 days. If no one wants to leave, skip 1 day and keep doing that until someone wants to leave. This method is also used for hunting villagers via campsite and the only downside is rampant weed/flower growth since they fixed the villager moving out glitch last update. However, I’d recommend skipping forward 1 day at a time to farm Nook Miles and while waiting for someone to ask since you’re accumulating NMT and also speeding up the move-out cooldown. I wouldn’t restart the game since you’re gonna want to kick out your first 5 villagers anyway.

He chose Harry and I chose Lolly for Amiibo cards, and I gotta say, Harry really is the worst. Whenever I look for him, he’s not there. Whenever I find him, and finally get a chance at conversation, it’s always the most disinteresting dialogue lines within the game.

Once i DID let audie leave and invite a new villager, only then the game allows rodney to have the option to leave ;w;
i time-travelled 2 years forward without this knowledge at first. never again.
Thank you for this tip!
This isn't true.

My Name is Hi I’ve actually started trying this method today with Ed and I think it only takes a few days and then they will decide to move out
Just a little PSA for everyone
I have spent somewhere around 9+ hours trying to move out a specific villager, and ive tried everything.
Aaron Foster or just wait a month or so
My most recent villager is the one that keeps trying to move but I love her. It's my first camper that won't leave. I didn't want him in the first place but the game won't let you NOT invite them T_T

based on my personal experience, the villager that wants to leave are the ones you used to constantly talk to/give gifts to on a daily basis. when the day comes where you just forgot to check on them or stop giving them gifts, that’s when they have the thoughts to leave! it happened to 3 of my villagers i have the highest friendship points with! that’s what i experienced so it may not be accurate either.
Dudeeee are you kidding!!! I just hada villager I liked want to move out TODAY where was this video 10 hours ago😭😭😭😭😭

The next day, the thought bubble moved towards Puddles, one of my other villagers and the only other villager I actually wanted to rid of left on my Island (lucky me and yesterday I had Roald on my campsite and I convinced him to replace Erik, the second to last villager I wanted to get rid of.). 4:52 Oh look at Cube being adorable!
I’m having the same problem. Marina wants to leave for the second day now and I’m avoiding her hoping the thought bubble will transfer!
just wanna thank you for this video because i was able to move my bubble on to elise and went villager hunting and found marina as her replacement, a HUGE upgrade

Is it possible that the “trash” your villagers reference is just the weeds and DIY recipes and miscellaneous stuff strewn about the island or are you pretty confident it’s caused by the actual trash bag item?
Throwin some shade
@@ronnycrawf2441 not throwing shade at all; I know he needs to time travel to create the content, so I'm just curious if when the villagers reference trash that's what they're considering since it is detrimental to your island rating as well... we're all theorizing but I just have a hard time believing a specific craftable item is what makes them not like living there over the weeds and dropped items.
Ben L I was just messing around lol. I think you’re actually correct.
@@electricfishfan True, but at that point in the game your island isn't full up to 10, so they wouldn't ask to leave in that case regardless, so it's tough to know. I'm pretty sure villagers that just moved in won't get thought bubbles-
You have to kick someone else out and then move Olaf.

Easy delete save file
Dang...poor you lol

Also I don’t think that’s possible because if you have a plot of land already someone will go there
And the game makes you invite villagers to progress
