- The Powder Blues, live from the original Barrymore's, Bank Street Ottawa Canada. Co produced by CHRO TV and CHEZ 106 FM and hosted by Shelly Hartman and someone's name I didn't catch. I was never a fan of the band but they're a lot of fun here and pretty tight. Enjoy
Bruce you get a thumbs up for posting this - especially not being a big fan. I saw The band in Calgary as the opening act for Burton Cummings. I was about 20 and didn't really enjoy them. Maybe there is something in the lyrics "too young for the blues". At this moment in time (mid 50's), the First Decade Greatest Hits CD is one of my most played
Great concert of Canadian Blues!
DAMN GREAT BAND
The first song had so Mich groove
My dear soul brother, on top of the world, Luv ya Will!!! Powder Blues, Magnificent! Few better. Tom Lavin, up there with the greats, no doubt. Dave Woodward, et al, something else. Just so powerful, thanks won't be enough but it's the best I can do.
Found their record in my uncle's CD collection when I was a kid and I remember dancing all night. Got to see them perform at the Blues Can in Calgary many years later. Great band and have always wanted to play guitar like Tom
So familier like Hall and Oats.Yes Tom Lavin is great singer and a guitar layer in this band.I though this band Powder Blues Band.like 50`s Rock & Roll sound too
Thanks for posting this! CHEZ-RIP! Barrymore's- RIP! Powder Blues Band- legendary & underrated! I started with them and Downchild and I was doing the harder stuff in no time!
Outstanding! world class, it's these guys that keep it real, hopefully they know they are the keepers of the flame and thus "stars" to all that know rock and roll! Thank you Tom!
Glad I stumbled onto this video. I've been a big fan since I got a copy of the First Decade Greatest Hits, soon after it came out. Definitely my favourite all time CD.
White guy blues from Gleview! Whoed a thought, Love ya T, thanks for all your help. ✌️
Checking in from 2018
Awesome thanks for posting.
I've been a fan since Uncut. Great memories.
A Labatt's Blue stubbie
re "I was never a fan of the band " ... as a life long fan of The Powder Blues Band (still alive an very well), I have to ask why ?
I guess I liked my blues a little grittier. A little less uptown. I admit they were good but wasn't into them at the time. I like this show a lot and will admit I was wrong.
@@brucemcewen2495 Got it. And really .. thank you for posting. I've seen loads of PBB videos, but not this vintage clip. To me, the PBB is the best horn based blues band ever ... subjective I know.
Here is a very recent interview with Tom Lavin ( a very accomplished person)

@@joeanderson3423 I watched it again after your first comment and they are really good. Glad you like. It pleases me 4,600 people have checked it out. Thanks once again for Sherry Rhodes of the original Barrymore's for lending me the tape to transfer. Barrymore's was the place to be around this time. I'm sure this would have been a rocking night.
@@brucemcewen2495 I posted it on Tom's FB page ( facebook.com/powderblues ) . The song 'Same Old Blues' that starts at approx 30:02 gives me the chills. David Woodward is THE best on tenor sax. And Willie McCalder just nails it on keys and vocals. I'm going to work out this song for the lablues.org holiday party / jam coming up next weekend !
Track listing anyone?
please set list this concert?? the songs please??
Have a go at it
They didn't do Sweet Little Girl
