I was born in a Caribbean island and I can tell It is so refreshing to see all your episodes and as a free instruction to follow if you want to build in the PI by the way my wife is from Manila and we have 4 kids. We were talking the other day when to decide to build or buy over there. We actually are from San Antonio, Texas. Thank you !
I'm hoping the owners will disclose some details regarding costs but it's my policy to respect privacy of the owners regarding finances. It's possible I can sit down with the builder post construction for a one-on-one on cost expectations of current building in the Philippines.
Very nice old James it is very beautiful I like the landscaping every day I watch your video I get some ideas thank you very much my friend have a good day
Wow the house is looking beautiful. Its great to see that your positive outcomes with some local contractors has brought additional customers to their businesses.
They haven't released any numbers but my best guess is somewhere around P12-P16m. The broad window depends on your lot and the level of effort required to prepare the build site. This estimate does not include the price of the land.
@@MyPIDream my farm is on elevated area has beautiful view of the ocean and mountain it’s perfect with this kind of design I really liked it 👍💚 than you!
So much space on the roof. Really should have put some stairs up to it. But without that, they really should cover the whole thing in pebbles. Let the small rocks take the heat instead of the cement roof. Keep it much cooler.
The concealed roof is for aircon condensers, solar hot water plus solar panels. The solar panels will keep the sun off of 80% of the roof once installed.
@@myrah_adzy The car will be parked in the garage. The car will not be in the way of the gate closing as it will be closing automatically. If it opens outward, the gate will take a lot of outside space and even the roadside. You can’t do that. 👍😄
@@MyPIDream 😄 well good on them ,hey they should make a small plaque of its history for its next right of passage. It will soon be as famous as Villa Feliz😅😄. Hahaha a traveling historic site🗽😂😂😅
Great showing neighbors build. Did I miss it or what ballpark is the total house build including lot? That’s a very impressive house but bet not cheap at all.
Yes, easy to find on Lazada.com. The irrigation pop up heads (Hunter) and control valves were bought in the USA but sure you can find similar over here.
Just caught up with the last couple of videos. The new house is looking really epic. Bet they’re not sleeping much because of the anticipation!!! So you two are doing the Lipa cabaret circuit now 🤣!!! Good to see two people really enjoying their retirement. 5 weeks and counting down for me till I kiss the daily grind bye bye!! Stay safe 👍🏻
This was covered in one of the build episodes. I showed the name of the product for reference. Sorry, I don't have the episodes indexed so you might have to do a little viewing.
Normally the first build shares the fence with the neighbor although this is not mandatory and might require the neighbor to build their own fence right next to the existing fence. The owner of the first fence can mandate the new neighbor not connect or alter the first fence as to not do damage to the structure of electrical wiring for lights.
Here in Charleston SC enjoying our vacation; tomorrow back to Phoenix for a week then back to the Philippines via Japan. Any testing requirements for your flight back?
Hope you're enjoying your time in Charleston. You need to check with your airlines and possibly the US embassy for travel requirement. They keep changing so fast these days. If you are transferring in Japan they might have special requirements like what we met in S. Korea.
@MAGICJ23 I used 6 inch hollow block for extra strength and insulation, then cement rendering, and sanding, then 2 layers of skim coat, first layer thicker than the second fine thin layer, then sanded, then one coat of white primer and two coats of exterior semi gloss weatherproof Boysen paint. My house exterior colors are Far Away blue, white trim and columns, with the same colors on my fence walls with gloss black epoxy paint over grey epoxy primer on my fence angle bar, square bar and fence walk entry and vehicle entry gates. I'm located in Ormoc City, Leyte. I have similar colors to this Canadian couples home. Hope this helps.
Ours was underpainted and the paint was applied in many places before the skim coat dried which is why we have so many cracks and chips. I think we only had 2 coats.
Theirs is more optimum than ours because our house has more roof space to the east. We had to find a balance between roof availability, aesthetics, and functionality. For the two of us, the amount of sun we get is enough to keep the water hot for our use but if we have several days of no sun we occasionally have to flip the breaker to turn on the heating element in the solar hot water system.
Question. How about your medical? How do you do it if you get really sick..you go back to usa because you are covered by insurance right? Becuse its really expensive in the Philippines. Any advice on the best thing to do? I am Fil-US citizen thinking of buying house there but thinking of high cost of medical there, whats the best go around. Thanks
We have PhilHealth. Health care is a fraction of the cost here from what you pay in the US so even if we have to pay out of pocket it's not an issue. Check out my video on healthcare in the Philippines. ruclips.net/video/XC9n80kopVk/видео.html
Hi Cha Gra, we retired here in the Philippines too from US. Got my insurance maxicare you can check their site from more info. I pay $1000 annually covered everything. Office visit P200 for obgyn and physician P700.
Hi James ,very different design build of this house kind of semi Art Deco ,not sure why windows are so small I guess there is a reason for that ? ,don't get me wrong the house looks nice but very different from most house build designs .
James Just wondering about the top-soil, it seems pretty light for a good soil all top-soil I'm used to in Canada would be real dark black with a strong smell of the soil very good. Is this normal for there or is this just scrapped soil off the top or ordinary already used soil? thx..
Beautiful ladder fence.

It's a very nice house, I thought @ first it's just a small house but it's huge, & I like the combination of colors (black, white, gray)

Hey where are u located in Philippines ti be able to plant all ur nice plants
Lipa City Batangas
It’s a pity that the windows are very small.
The house sort of reminds me of brutalist architecture but reinvented. My opinion only.
Amazing video. How big is their land ?
Thank you
736 sqm.

How was the roof waterproofed? I must have missed that episode. How do you remove the mold from the roof of your house? Or does it matter?

Hello James..would you mind giving the contractor info. It looks like they are doing a great job there.👍🏼👍🏼
Hi Jaybe. Please email me at mypidream@gmail.com for more info. Thanks.
James.. What happens if you have side to side next door neighbor...Do you end up having double fence???Or like in U.S. sharing common fence...
Normally the first build shares the fence with the neighbor although this is not mandatory and might require the neighbor to build their own fence right next to the existing fence. The owner of the first fence can mandate the new neighbor not connect or alter the first fence as to not do damage to the structure of electrical wiring for lights.
Are there still available lots in your neighborhood?

James how do you fix the cracks in the cement walls there
It has to be filled with the same skim coat used originally then sanded and painted.
@@MyPIDream when you originally painted the outside how many coats of paint did they use?

I'd say at least 3 coats. Usually 2 coats will show through.
Hi James. I noticed that yours and his rooftop solar water heaters don’t face the same direction. (90 degrees different)
Does it matter much?
