    A friend of mine was an working as an air traffic controller in Canada and he remembers the phone call he got from his boss' boss. They were told the US had shut it's airspace down, and his reaction was "What? They can't just do that!" and he was told "Well they just did." Pretty much no plane was allowed off the ground in US air space, and those coming in were redirected back to where they came from or to Canada, and iirc, lots of European countries started denying landings as well due to fear that they could get attacked as well.

    Supersonic era is apparently not over, especially with newer SSTs coming inbound. It's the airframe safety that has to be upped for those newer planes - with Delta wings, in theory you could potentially glide a SST with all engines out, as area rule determines how long you can glide that supersonic planes to safety.

    • @cardinaloflannagancr8929
      @cardinaloflannagancr8929 23 дня назад

      Also strange is why subsonic planes would be the cause of it ending. Supersonic has two things holding it back cost both to build & maintain also noise. People back when concord first was coming out were complaining about the extra noise before it even flew. They had to use dB meters to prove the noise level just to get the few international routes they let them do. People now are even worse complaint wise nowadays although impatient for sure. Key would be if they can expedite the layover or check in time where the faster flight would be more noticeable.

  • @jamesm3471
    @jamesm3471 23 дня назад +13

    I don’t think the pilots of AA77 just surrendered the cockpit to the hijackers. On United 93, when the passengers began planning to retake the plane from the terrorists, one of the first things they discussed was who among them could possibly fly and safely land the plane, settling on an older guy with a single engine, private pilot’s license. Back on AA77, when Barbara Olson told her husband on the phone she was in the back of the plane with “the pilot” she was probably referring to another passenger who could possibly fly the plane. The pilots on the flight deck were almost certainly already dead or incapacitated, the only way a pack of psychotic jihadis were going to take control of the aircraft was over the pilots’ dead bodies, literally.

    • @theadventureinsider
      @theadventureinsider 23 дня назад +4

      I don't think that's it, I think they actually forced the pilots without killing or eve physically harming them. No stabbings were reported by anyone meanin everyone was probably alive until the plane hit the building. Keep in mind that before and during 9/11 it was assumed to be safer to just comply since most of the time the plane landed but not where they were trying to go.

    According to the congressional hearing transcript there was an issue with the handling and documentation of victims' personal belongings and clothing from TWA Flight 800 after the accident:
    Victims' clothing was commingled and the documentation of what belonged to each victim was poor. Little effort was made to establish proper chain of custody.
    Clothing was improperly stored in a refrigerated truck, which later had its refrigeration fail for over a day, causing the clothing and belongings to get warm and mold, destroying any potential evidentiary value. About 2 months into the investigation, an FBI agent assisted in sorting through a dumpster to try to recover materials like seat covers that had been discarded without being properly documented or preserved as evidence. The report does not specifically mention any issues with passenger baggage itself being mishandled. The main concern highlighted was the improper collection, storage, and documentation of victims' personal effects like clothing, which could have been important evidence in determining the cause of the accident. While the sources provide some details on investigative missteps, they do not indicate any specific issues related to passenger baggage reconciliation or cargo from TWA Flight 800 being mishandled or loaded improperly. The focus was on the mismanagement of victims' belongings recovered from the crash site.

    We're questioning things about the hijackings AFTER the fact?
    Before 9/11 security at airports around most of the world consisted of pat downs and metal detector scans.
    Before 9/11 it was assumed standard procedure for crew members to give in to demands as the plane would likely land somewhere.

    There was a tremendous amount of evidence and warnings that clearly showed an attack was imminent and how it would be carried out. Normally this evidence and these warning would have been heeded but incredibly it was completely ignored by top officials of the government including those in the Bush Administration and the FBI. After previously meeting with Atty Gen Ashcroft on July 5, 2001, on July 12 acting FBI Director Tom Pickford urgently warned Atty Gen Ashcroft about the coming al-Qaida attack but he was summarily dismissed with Ashcroft telling him that he didn’t want to hear about it anymore. What makes you think the plane disappeared? Did you dig through the rubble to check?
      "There isn't a titanium engine, not a tire"
      Parts of the plane would be very small compared to rubble from the building. Did you examine every little piece of rubble? How do you know there were no plane parts there?
      "not any luggage"
      Again, how do you know that none was found?
      "not a video from the most secure building in the world"
      It's "the most secure building in the world"... maybe that's why they wouldn't want to release video from inside it? 🤦 Anyway, if there was surveillance video from inside the building, it wouldn't show anything. In one frame everything would be normal, in the next frame, the image would go dark because the camera was destroyed, knocked down and buried, etc... or it would just show a pile of rubble, and there are plenty of photos of that already.
      "not a single cell phone video"
      It was 2001... there were no phones on the market in the U.S. that could record video. 🤦
      "I think we should be allowed to ask questions."
