I've been rocking this OST since the Saturn CD myself, so I can relate. I still listen to it on my USB while playing GT7. Sega Touring Car was genuinely underrated for its time
I always got the feeling Sega tried pulling a Ridge Racer with this game in regards to the soundtrack, but with a bigger emphesis on Euro Dance/Hi NRG and the like compared to early RR's focus on Hardcore/Breakbeat Hardcore, Hard Techno and the odd bit of Rotterdam techno. And with a bit if star pull- some of the tracks are licensed (that opening track is a Channel X song, a very early, pre-micro-sample-avante-gard-beats obsessed Riow Arai track, and at least one other song).
DeconTheed92 The music was under license from Avex Trax. IIRC, there was an article in Sega Saturn Magazine that specifically names the artists who were involved.
Sega Touring Car Championship is a 1996 racing game developed by AM Annex for the Model 2 arcade board. It was later ported to the SEGA Saturn Playing with a modern analog gamepad really makes all the difference here. While the cars still don't have much grip, a proper analog stick allows for a far greater degree of control than you can get with any of the Saturn's own peripherals. Following the success of Sega Rally, the game's designer, Tetsuya Mizuguchi, again looked to create another racing title, only this time featuring touring cars. Like Sega Rally, it too would stress realism. But where Rally's focus lies primarily on its various road surfaces, Sega Touring Car Championship, as it was to be called, would instead concentrate on perfecting car physics upon tarmac even or asphalt. In addition to the usual research, Mizuguchi and his newly-formed AM Annex team went out of their way gathering first-hand experience. They traveled abroad to watch real touring car races like Deutsche Tourenwagen Meisterschaft (also known as Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters or simply DTM), rode shotgun with the sport's own drivers, and even spent some time behind the wheel themselves. In the end though, the result was a very slippery, difficult racer.* Between the game's insane learning curve and its focus on a relatively unknown motorsport, Tour Caring was not well received in arcades. However, this is not a bad game! While the cars are overly-responsive, with much practice, they are indeed driveable. Beyond the handling, the rest of Touring Car is really quite impressive. The tracks are well-designed, the techno music energetic**, and the numerous real-world cars decked out with tons of actual corporate sponsorships are seriously cool! If the controls were ever tightened up in a port, I think Touring Car could stand proudly alongside the best of Sega's racers.
so the devs spent weeks on the passenger seat of a GT racer car to make a game with a car going almost sideways? at least they nailed the sound effects.
BlendJul It's *Touring Car Championship* ,can look unsense but I always associate "Touring" as in portuguese wild animal *Touro* ,the car goes like a wild bull charging over you,so you get *bulling* the vehicle and this cornering comes from this, because the speed indicator goes wild, and that small time and bonus time works on your reflexes the minimal pixel possible, and you have to work on your vision trying to not hit the walls as every run is
Ondřej Zástěra I have a question, some PC's sometimes talking about this game has rumors to not have nice graphics, but if played in a gamer computer which has a processor way better, does have a chance to this game appear like on arcade machine even being as Saturn console?
The 3D-pad is great for NiGHTS, but it's really too loose for the sort of precision you need in racing games. Fortunately, STCC for Saturn is quite playable if you emulate it through SSF and use a 360 gamepad. In the emulator: Options, Options, Controller, Player1, Multipad. In the game itself: Options, Key Config, Type B. If you still don't like how your car handles, you can customize its handling too. I'm good enough at the Saturn version that I can finish first place overall.
+Larry Bundy Jr I agree with you man. For me graphic was awesome, probably with Indy500, the best graphic game for Model 2. The problem was the controls.
How in the hell are you managing third? i cant even get 6th with a wheel.. EDIT: i tried "revision A" and i was able to make second in the last track. the difficulty is obviously toned down in that version
If the speeds goes up in 3 seconds, the game lasts 3 minutes,I wonder who could get free credits if this game in arcade machine would have free plays for 1st
I Reckon if AM Annex put more time on this game, or even if AM2 Developed it it could have been an enjoyable cult classic. I mean the soundtrack is brilliant but gameplay is very finnicky and sensitive.
I mean i dont like to much this game but how the model 2 is handling the music and those graphics? This sounds like a CD instead of Daytona Usa or Sega rally where you knew their voices and ost souds like vocaloid or smth like that lol
I found the Saturn port to be extremely unplayable. The controls are just not up to snuff, no matter which input I used (dpad, 3d controller, steering wheel), and that totally sucks because I really really want to like this game. Its sense of speed is incredible, the music is awesome, and the tracks are well designed, but with bad controls, it just makes for a bad time.
This arcade version of Are U Wake Up (Round 2 music) sounds a lot like the John Robinson remix. I think when hearing the Avex Trax music of this game via BridgeM1 or something else, most of the songs are actually shortened and looped compared to the Saturn/PC version which the OST version of the game is played. Excellent playthrough, by the way. Hope I can find one of these arcade machines around. : ]
Porque a sega não produz mais jogos de corrida adoraria ver o hang-on,scud race, manx tt e outros clàssicos nas gerações atuais poderia ser esses remasterizados ou novos jogos arcade.
I never played the port of Daytona on the 360/PS3. I did play it on MAME quite a long time ago on an LCD screen. It looked sort of odd, as did Daytona (Dreamcast) on an LCD with the VGA box.
+Saturn Memories Thank you for your greats video and you have right. I only think that the emulated versions of arcade sega lost some light effects and the colours are different. But your work is great, I'm a fan of your video and a fan of Sega ;) Kind regards
The m2emulator, but it's pretty buggy with this game, and it's not especially smooth either. You'll also get microstutters because the refresh rate of the arcade board and modern monitors don't line up.
SegaSaturnLad That's the asian level,it wants to get you caught what the nanospace, nanoatom or nanopixel that humans can't see, that's why this game is so hard
>:-( "The Angry Videogame-Nerd" would say : The Handling of the Cars in this Game was very shitty ! Years later the german Racing-Sponsor "D2-Mannesmann" :P was sucked of by "Vodafone" .
check out this mercedes, it can do zero-to-300 in 3 seconds
realism at its best
So this is where NFS 2015 got its physics.
ROASTED
The theme song was amazing. I used to put this CD into a CD player just for the music. :P
I just have today for the car haha. i just cae onlione to find the artist name for Drive me crazy
I used to do that with Tekken.

I guess it's kinda off topic but does anyone know a good site to stream newly released movies online?
@Boston Matias flixportal :P
@Colby Nash thanks, signed up and it seems like a nice service :) Appreciate it!
@Boston Matias Glad I could help =)
Oh man this brings back so many memories. I loved to play this in the arcade every time i had the chance.

I'm so proud you finally learned how t copy and paste from wikipedia xx
The car looks like its going warp speed!! 🚀
That Eurobeat though
I have a subtile feeling that this game isn't 100% realistic...
It is and it isn't........in classic Sega fashion.
Are you say 0-300 Km/h in three seconds isn't realistic 🤣
50p 2 goes, complete every time
260km/h conering is nice logic
200-300 km/h in 1.4 seconds is nice logic too
The sound effect that plays when the car bumps something is quite comical 😂😂
if something, the music is fire!
so the devs spent weeks on the passenger seat of a GT racer car to make a game with a car going almost sideways?
at least they nailed the sound effects.

We still have this arcade machine somewhere in my city. Not much of a good game, but it has a good music and the car models seems nice to me.

What emulator are you using? Runs smooth and not blocky at all.
Probably one of the worst Sega arcade racers IMO, especially as this is straight off the back of Sega Rally the previous year.
+Larry Bundy Jr It's definitely very slippery, but I think if I had a wheel it would work well together with manual transmission.
Saturn Memories
Quite possibly!
+Larry Bundy Jr I agree with you man. For me graphic was awesome, probably with Indy500, the best graphic game for Model 2. The problem was the controls.
Cool Riders and this game are kind of neck-and-neck in terms of bad Sega arcade games.
jaymum23
They either rushed it out the door to capatilise on Sega Rally's success or gimped it so it would look better on the Saturn.
0:44 RIP headphone users
1:41 90s Alfa Romeo Spider
If you on the number one spot, there will be extra race, better control if you use opel or alfa romeo, as far as I can remember playing it in 1997
Yeah, I can actually get to it with the Saturn port. The arcade game is just way to slippery when trying to control it with a controller.
How in the hell are you managing third? i cant even get 6th with a wheel..
EDIT: i tried "revision A" and i was able to make second in the last track. the difficulty is obviously toned down in that version
Try using manual transmission. Drop gears for extra traction on turns.
Emulated or captured?
Ahh, the childhood memories.
2:58 Um, Quagmire, he asked you a question!
I don't watch Family Guy much but that was a funny scene.
Steering sensitivity = infinite
OMG...
0-100KM 1sec
0-200KM 2sec
0-300KM 3sec
If the speeds goes up in 3 seconds, the game lasts 3 minutes,I wonder who could get free credits if this game in arcade machine would have free plays for 1st
Forgotten Sega Racing game
I'd like to forget about it too.

It’s generally not a good game.
Looks like they tried and failed to make Sega Ridge Racer.
well said "NIP"
I bought this for Saturn just for the OST.
I wanted this to be good, so much. But the gameplay was almost impossible.
Anybody has an idea of how to be able to put the three laters while introducing your name?
Alfa Romeo 155 V6 Ti 🔥

童年回憶~好懷念!
Sega model 2 feels like a N64 CD or early dreamcast graphics
Cool...
This is not the Saturn version.
No, it is not. I have the Saturn version on my channel as well tho.
0:42 Holy f*ck that looks like thrill drive
This game looks more like a Model 3 game in my opinion.
Close.
@@ColossalKillaAnd also, the controls in this game are really stiff.
No way, looks like a step down from Daytona USA.
Tinha esse jogo quando tinha meu sega saturno
That game needs scan lines. It just doesn't look arcadey with that smooth of an image.
Gamevet Do you feel the same way about the HD port of Daytona on 360/PS3?
I never played the port of Daytona on the 360/PS3. I did play it on MAME quite a long time ago on an LCD screen. It looked sort of odd, as did Daytona (Dreamcast) on an LCD with the VGA box.

how it is possible to play it like this? it look so smooth
The m2emulator, but it's pretty buggy with this game, and it's not especially smooth either. You'll also get microstutters because the refresh rate of the arcade board and modern monitors don't line up.
当時めっちゃリアルだと思ってたのに、今見るとこんなものなのね…
LOL
コントロールに癖があって難しい。
3rd PRISE. Never change Sega
Wow, too busy gearshift!
I always went with the Alfa Romeo
Song is eurobeat
Are you just using MAME to run this?
ARE YOU FUCKIN AWAKE OUT THERE
Why do I think the singer of the theme song sounds like Barbara Streisand?...
It reminds me more of TJ Davis kinda, with it remindering me of Sonic R (Which has some music as energetic, and the music is sung by TJ Davis).
Play game, place 3rd... Now get the hell out of here! The sad part is, this was the exact same expierence on the home port.
Game about touring cars , has a JGTC castrol Tom's Supra , seesm legit
And other models are 1st generation Class 1 Touring Cars, which were participated in DTM.
Still more realistic than forza
time font is big
Feels pretty horrible to drive and looks bad. The car just pivots around its centre point when cornering.
音樂很好聽
Video
Ohh this game is such a turkey. Shame it never match Rally in any aspect, the worst part being the speed, it's pretty much uncontrolled at full go.
SegaSaturnLad That's the asian level,it wants to get you caught what the nanospace, nanoatom or nanopixel that humans can't see, that's why this game is so hard
should of been release on the dreamcast.. not on the saturn on the saturn it looks like shitt
the worst game in living memory to control the cars!! even with the right set up and wheel!!! difficult does not come close!
