Footage: Last of the Giants, Heritage Unit Roundup, Houston a Decade of Difference, Silver Stone Pass, Southern California Rail Journal 2012, Steam to LA, The Challenger,Big Boy Update, UP 844-Still Goin' Strong, Western Heritage Tour, New Mexico-Arizona Centennial Special, and the Builing of the 119 & Jupiter.
I'm not even American and feel so good listening to this song. Railfan are not bound by borders!

Y'know, SP 4449 was actually part of the Southern Pacific (SP) Right until 1985 (1988 sorry*) when they merged... Still cool to watch it go by..

I am a Csx fan just because they run through my hometown, but I really do understand how important Union Pacific is to our nation. Never seen a steam loco run in real life but once when I was little. Would love to see one again!

Blair Terry, if a big boy has about 7000 horsepower. And a normal Diesel has 4400 horsepower. How come they won’t use the big boy. I know it cost a lot to run and it’s a steam train but could they use it instead of all of its runs being passenger
The Operating Cost, how much time it takes to fire up a steam engine... we took diesels because it took up less money and time
LowesRacingFan 48 Because steam engines have ALWAYS been dangerous and labor intensive to work with. If the engine runs out of water, the boiler would literally explode, you would have to grease the main rods every 100 miles or so and guys have lost some of their fingers and hands inside the main rods by accident, and trying to look out the window to see what’s in front of a steam engine on the tracks was a bit of a hassle. Not to mention, steam engines in general are pretty loud compared to today’s diesels.
Big Boy only has about 6,300 horsepower.
Its cool to see how Union Pacific is the last railroad to come out of the 19th century alive without being merged with other railroads (aside from the shortlines.)
I can really see how this song informs and embodies much of the early Simpson’s writing.

No. It's owned and operated by Southern Pacific.
