I've watched this show several times, but only now I'm starting to notice how often Sister Bernadette spent time with Trixie, Cynthia and Jenny- as if she wanted to belong to them more and have things in common with them. And yet at that time we had absolutely no idea what her path would be from season 2!
I never thought she would fall in love with Doctor Turner but I did have a feeling she would leave the nun life with how much you could see she yearned to join the other girls. Her Path became the richest🥺
She can astound you with the wisest of comments at the most opportune time. Remember her placement of Sister E's shoes on her final carriage ride? So moving.
Characters like the nun in that very first clip really make me wonder how many Autistic and neurodivergent women in ages past ended up in convents, and how comfortable that world must have been for them.
@ Maybe that’s part of it, but there’s definitely something about her general speech patterns that sounds much more neurodivergent than dementia alone.
@@rekkariley652she was not only British but very, very upper crust. She would likely have been born somewhere around 1870-1880. Given that time and background, her highfalutin manner of speech would have been pretty normal.
Sadly the show slowly became infected with the woke insanity and a lot of the most beloved characters left,Chummy included and with the introduction of the black midwife the show became but a sad shadow of what it was in the beginning and the last 3-4 seasons have been almost unbearable to watch because of the woke madness.Laura Main has also left the show by the way.
@@1980sforeverit was nothing to do with “woke insanity” you pillock. And the black characters were representive of the immigration after world war 2 who helped rebuild our country from the rubble. Miranda hart who played chummy left because she found the schedule too gruelling, but the character is still mentioned. and a lot of the actors left because their careers took off from being in it.
She left 9 years ago after season 4, she went to run the mother and baby home and then went to night school, her and Peter left the district off-screen shortly after We’re currently on season 13
@@1980sforeverthe show didn't become "woke". It reflected the changing attitudes, people and beliefs that have thankfully occurred since the late 1950s. If watching call the midwife has made you yearn for the problematic beliefs they held in series 1 then you may have missed quite a lot of the point of the programme!

“Please stop wittering about vegetables 😁 I could not care less 😁”
Max stealth....shit
I really like sistermonica Joan. I know she was suffering from dementia but she always spoke so eloquently.
Thank you for putting on a good lengthy clip rather than the 5 second blips we too often.
"Are you trying to summon a fart?" LMAO!!!
I laughed so hard she's my favorite
My favourite is Cynthia sidling past with the box on , dressed as myrrh 😅
Sister Monica Joan is my favourite of the nuns

So moving.
She is one of my favorite characters ever, in anything. ❤
I love her!!
surprised you didnt include Evangelina asking Chummy and Noakes out for them cuz they were too awkward. still loved the moments you did include tho!
LOOOOVE THIS soo much
“Poo to you” 😂😂
Season 1 was hands down the best.
I'm considering watching the show. Is it bad bad afterwards or just "less good"? Thanks :)
I miss Jenny Lee.
Que le paso a ella, no la volvieron a pasar
Ahhh Mrs Winston One of the pregnant mums (, AKA Karen from EE.).
Sister monica looks like the old lady who was on delores Clarborn as her old boss
Lol, never mind I just looked it up and yes it's the same actress who played vera Donovan on Deloris Clarborn😊😊😊

Sister Monica Joan had mild dementia.

I would say that Chummy is neurodiverse as well.

@@1980sforever How pathetic do you have to be to think that adding a black character to the cast is "woke"?
Pooh to you😛

I miss the batty version of Sister Monica Joan. Her current lucidity isn't as entertaining.
'promo sm'
Is Chummy a real woman or a trans woman?!?!
Why does it matter?
