1 piece of 18 gauge square wire, 11 inches long(you may need longer if your stone is larger than mine)
22 gauge half-round wire(no need to measure and pre cut, just keep it on the spool and use as needed)
One cabochon(mine is goldstone, teardrop shape, 1.25 inches)
All my wire is dead-soft bare copper

So, I just tried this method with a large lapis lazuli heart, puffy on both sides, and while I had to change method a little to accommodate the differences I was able to achieve a strong pronged housing with no stone movement. This was my first time wrapping a stone so it took me about 2 hours to achieve it but I like the results. Now I can wear my stone and receive the full benefits of it. I plan to try other stones in this style as well. Thank you for the tutorial!

Just what I need, a few simple to make Bezels! My husband and I make Polymer Clay jewelry, many Cabs, and we are running out of ideas on how to make some bezels that are not wire woven. This is just right. (you also have some other nice ones that I have placed on My Favorites list, so I can work on them ASAP. Thanks for the fine tutorials.

Also, I just recieved my very low end rolling mill (less that $150 on eBay) which allows me a near endless supply of square, half-round, and flatter wires. It is great to be able to "mess up", annual, and reform my wire work.

The tutorial iseems spot on. However , in reality, I encountered a lot of difficulties.
Perhaps you should demonstrate possible errors the student experiences and how to avoid them
Also an emphasis on how to correct common messes .. holding one end of the piece, displaces another. As beginners we are experienced enough to “eyeballing” measurements. Please make another video for real. beginners in wire wrapping

thank you for your feedback, you are right this piece may be a bit tricky for a true beginner who is wire wrapping for the first time. I highly recommend for beginners to start with beads, that is how I myself started at first. What if you start point down to set the stone but put the bail back on the fat end. Would that secure it a little better than starting from the big end?

so you didn't mention what the size of the bail should be, is there a general rule of thumb, or do you just eyeball it...
I usually just eyeball it. You can make bail according to your preference, if you have a thick chain you want to use you can make it bigger to accommodate.

Thank you again for a wonderful design. I really like the simplicity of your beginner tutorials. A question you might not know the answer to. I wear mostly gold-colored chains so I normally use gold wire but am having difficulty finding gold (or brass) square dead soft and dead soft half round. I purchased gold filled but it is so expensive for my level of expertise. Have you any idea where I might find this? And again I cannot thank you enough for all your tutorials-I am in awe of you.

I use sandpaper after to buff out the marks

The use of a lapel microphone would have greatly improved the quality and clarity of the audio. You, obviously, were facing away from the on-camera microphone in this video.
I filmed this in my bathroom, because at the time I was filming the lighting was best there, but it is small and very echo-ey
The cabs I have are not flat on the back, would this still work?
It may not, you want an actual cabochon for this that is flat in back and domed in front.

I couldn’t tell what was happening at the last part after you rolled the bail… And you said to put them around the prong so it won’t come apart.… I watched it a couple of times but still a little unclear
Nice, simple design. Have you ever tried nylon pliers? Those pliers you use just gouge the heck out of your wire work! It's a real shame to see all those gouges
They usually buff out after I oxidize and polish, and if they are real deep I use sandpaper to get them out. I have used nylon pliers but they just do not work well for me and I find them pretty hard to use
its not as easy as it looks.
