Hi Sherrie! This is a good wrap but I'm not sure it will be the best for a marble... what about taking a look at this one, I did a tutorial for a marble, specifically, so maybe this one will help also, enjoy!. ruclips.net/video/PtRbcDGp98A/видео.html
Very nice demo, thank you! What a creative way to highlight small stones and make them sparkle. You seem to be wasting a lot of wire though, I'd keep the wire shorter to start with. I'm thinking if you wrap like a bonbon with a bail on both ends, you can attach them easily for wire beaded necklace. It would add some sparkle to a beaded necklace with copper chain and jump rings and even daisy caps on beads.😍
Hi Wejdan! For this small of a stone, I would use the dead soft wire, which is what I'm using in the video. You could use dead soft for stones up to 8mm even. I only use dead soft wires in all of my work. I hope that helps!
I LOVE this! I make lil tiny, and big, resin gems and cabs and I have been struggling with ways to incorporate a way to be able to attach them onto a chain or something. I've put a tiny loop on an eye pin and cut it so I could stick it into the resin as I cure it as well as free formed wire bezels with a loop and filled with resin. Well this will help my alot. Thank you.
I Love these.........tried making something this way awhile ago....except.....i thought id have to add thinner wire to join each turn....so yeh never worked eh.......lol......so now I know u don't....Thank you so Much for this....I really Love ur wire Art............Take Care.......Hugssss
Thanks Kim, enjoy!! The 18g wire is strong enough most times if the stone stays small like in my tutorial, if you go larger, you can wrap around one additional time or go bigger wire like 16g. Have fun!
Hi I was wondering if do u use diamond gems only I've a diamond cute amethyst that I lost the the ring to how would I secured it in a pendant love ur jewelry
Thanks so much! I am not taking customs right now, but there are several videos that might work for your Amethyst if you're thinking to wrap it yourself.
Very well done! It’s beautiful and I love it that you used your hands doing most of the forming. Do you think this would work with gemstones that are calibrated but don’t have a hole in the top?
This is SO CUTE! I'm always trying to think of simple designs for mini pendants and I can't wait to try this one. One question - would you suggest hammering any part of the wire during the process so that it's extra secure? Or maybe adding some half round to connect the wires? I know 18g is pretty sturdy but I'm always worried about stones falling out over time haha. Thank you so much for the tutorial! :)
Hi Briana, these are great questions... the stones I'm showing are very small so the 18g wire is sturdy enough and if you have a deep stone, then you could always do one more coil than I show in the tutorial... if you get the wire over the shoulders of the stone, it will stay in. If you are worried, you can certainly tie them together either by weaving or by half round, but if you intend this then make sure to make the coil a bit looser so you have room for the extra wires. I hope that helps! I can't wait to hear about what you do! If you use a larger stone, then you could consider stepping up to 16g and again, maybe doing 4 coils plus a spiral onto the stone to hold it in... and also a bit of weave if you're going a lot larger. This wrap is intended for super small stones, with no weight, so the wire, turning that tightly will harden enough and should be secure. Have fun! Let me know how it goes. :) Thanks for your comment!
I used a similar design all the time for small stones and I haven't lost any yet ( and I am tough on my jewelry lol). When I'm really concerned about stability I use square wire, I find it's a little more sturdy plus the corners give it some grab.
I wish I could share with you guys my first attempt at this😂 You make it look so easy😳...I’m thinking I’d rather do my insane wire weaving than this😂. Absolutely beautiful though! Yours that is!😂 I’m not going to give up though! Ty for these tutorials!
You can do it! You can also find me on FB if you want to share an image? Otherwise, keep trying, it works out after a few times ;) Have fun mostly. Thank you so much for your lovely comment! I do have weaving tutorials for small stones in my Videos catalog, Tutorials section... maybe try one of those too.
This is awesome - I always thought small cabochons were too fiddly to wrap. I will share on my blog (beadinggem) later this year and link to all your sites!
My only question/concern would be the coils snagging on something and being pulled apart...or getting snagged on hair, but that's just a jewelry thing.
It's a valid quesion/concern when it comes to wire wrapped jewelry. Making this particular wrap, using these very small stones, using the wire at a larger gauge and then making such tight bends coiling around the stone actually hardens the wire quite a bit. If you work the ends right, there will not be much if any snagging. I've been selling wire wrapped jewelry for over 15 years, world wide and am happy to report that I've had zero returns for wire breakage, stones falling out or snagging issues. Snagging on wire jewelry can be a concern for some but doesn't have to be if you build with the intent for your jewelry not to snag. I hope that helps you. Thanks for your comments.
I love your tutorials and I am definitely going to try these. Question, what would be the biggest cabochon you could use for this design? I have several larger cabs and wondering if the same technique would work. Thank you again for your videos.
This technique works well for larger stones too... this one, maybe up to 15mm... see my tutorial called Quinn if you need a wrap for larger stones. Let me know if this helps or if you have more questions 🙏💞
Thanks for subscribing, welcome! It can... given that the point isn't too deep, I think that if it's too deep and you coil up... it will 'spin' around on the chain since it will be pointy in the back. Just heads up on that... otherwise, it should! Have fun!

I Absolutely Love this, especially seeing that it's simple and Beautiful. Thank you so very much for sharing this video with us. Oh my 28g finially came. Now I can make the Goddess with the exact wire's that you used!! 💜💜💜💜
Thxs! Good idea! “But” you need to secure the neck and sides more! Otherwise, it is going to fall apart! Good craftsmanship is important! Keep on practicing! & Best Regards!👍🏼😮
Great input, Star, you're right 'however'... if you read the instruction for material, you'd see that best recommendations are for tiny cabs and at least 20g wire... the weight of the cabs vs the gauge and tensile strength of the wire, plus compression work hardening the wire, would actually make this wrap quite secure. I've sold them all over the world for the past 17 years without a return or an issue, so you're correct! Knowing your material as well as good craftsmanship does make a difference, doesn't it? Knowledge is best served complete. If the cab is too large, then yes, this is not the appropriate wrap to hold a larger stone. Good observation! Have a great day!
can you give me some more details Elizcha? What size? What are you trying to make? This exact design? If so, you can add security to a larger stone by weaving the coils together... but let me know what you're trying to make, I might have a better tutorial for your purpose?
I've just started wire wrapping it's interesting and I have some materials which I recently pulled out of storage, so I'm just playing and trying to learn how to manipulate the wire and pliers. Ty your idea of securing by weaving got my attention.

Thanks for asking Amelia! I always just go for it and see how some things turn out, it might be a beautiful surprise!
Great tutorial! I love how the wire shape forms a treble clef :) 🎼 If I want to use sterling silver instead of copper do you recommend using a different gauge or hardness than what you showed here? I have several 5-8mm stones I want to wrap.
Thanks for your comment Andrew! For 5 to 8mm stones, I like to use 18g wire. Since they are small, I also prefer using Dead soft wire because it will shape elegantly but still large enough that the stone should capture just fine. If you feel you need to secure it more, then perhaps weave a few stitches into the sides around the stone, but I haven't needed that for stones up to 8mm at 18g. The treble clef is a great idea! :) Have fun.
Hi elizabeth, sorry for the delay we just moved this weekend! These small stones I purchased from an etsy store, garnetsUSA I think or the Charcole Factory, they both sell great mini stones. Hope that helps!
You can use either hard, half hard or soft wire, in the video, I am using soft wire, it compresses around the tiny stone and is quite sufficient to hold it, but starting with hard wire works too.... harder on your hands for sure tho.

Perfectly Twisted Jewelry I am absolutely going to do this I can never get Cabachon wrapped right and I love this
請問用硬線還是軟線?
You can use either hard, half hard or soft wire, in the video, I am using soft wire, it compresses around the tiny stone and is quite sufficient to hold it, but starting with hard wire works too.... harder on your hands for sure tho.
So 0.5mm wire is too thin right
I would use larger wire, .5mm is about 24 gauge wire which is quite thin, you can go to .6 plus. So 22 gauge or larger. I hope that helps!
Awesome!
