I'm a portal speedrunner and can explain a lot of these. 1:06 uses a prop glitch to gain velocity, throws the radio at the door to stop it from closing fully, then jumps through onto the radio performing another prop glitch to gain velocity. 1:25 performs something called a BSG (button save glitch) to trick the game into thinking the player is standing on the button when they clearly aren't. The player requires an object like the radio to do this which is why he grabs it when he jumps down. 1:46 wastes time while GLaDOS is talking. When she's done at 2:10 the player uses a door launch which is where they perform a precise AFH and hits the angle on the door to launch himself into the air, grab a portal gun, and perform a SLG to skip this and the next chamber. 2:30 Just a SLG with a prop glitch using the cube to gain velocity. The SLG skips this and the next chamber. He also grabs the camera for next chamber where he will perform another prop glitch. 3:07 uses the camera for a prop glitch to launch himself into the elevator. 3:26 performs AFH (not ABH) to jump of some level decoration and into the elevator. 3:44 exactly the same. 4:01 Places a very precise portal under the door, goes through it and out the other side. 4:19 performs a reportal to gain velocity and performs a door launch to get into the elevator. 4:39 performs AFH to get the portal gun and then a SLG to reach the elevator. Grabs the camera and uses prop glitch to launch into the next chamber where he quickly SLG's, grabs another camera to launch launch himself through the door (he's in a SLG so he prty much has no collisions) then just before he get's into the elevator he places a portal to cancel the SLG and ride the elevator up to the next chamber. 5:17 Uses AFH to launch into a portal which converts downward velocity into upward velocity and get's high enough to reach the elevator. 5:33 just a SLG 5:55 A portal bump, SLG prop glitch and a bsg with the camera he got. 6:34 A SLG with a prop glitch and air strafing to reach the exit. 7:09 a large angle glitch with a slg to reach the end of chamber 19 marking the begging of the escape sequence 7:23 Just a lot of SLG's 7:52 A turret is used to shoot of the cores of GLaDOS. Then performs an Edge Glitch to put a portal directly under the incinerator. Then put the other portal under the cores so they can drop into the incinerator. When the final core get's destroyed this marks the end of the run. But it's not enough of course. Using another edge glitch the tool is able to get into the cake room and just put some portals and move the cube so when the cutscene at 10:03 plays you can see their work. And that is the TAS! If you want to learn more about how these glitches work check out the ultimate portal speedrun guide right here: docs.google.com/document/d/1H7AHqiSTRzJE2xfqPCGBsUXZay1g9wdUfCbPXoz8S3c/edit?usp=sharing Please consider joining the portal speed running discord as well: discord.gg/gQ285vS Have a great day!
He used the notepad to give him object boost then he ABHed to the radio. After letting go of the notepad and grabbing the radio, he used momentum to throw the radio into the open door to jam it. He grabs the notepad again to give himself boost and fly to the elevator.
I'm trying to make an Inbounds No SLA TAS, and im curious on how you did this. I know how to use SPT and stuff, and made a 00 TAS which is just walking, no abhs, and that took 45 minutes. I'm curious about how you managed to do abhs so well, because for me I would need to figure out the exact frame for each jump, test in between, and also turn the camera/press A or D, which would take a really long time. So, how did you make this so well? I'm also guessing it wouldn't take you as long as me, you got the companion cube at the end and did some random stuff in the vault at the start. Also in the explanation video you mention a tool in the tas program that basically moves you as fast as possible forwards, what is the command to do that?
tas_strafe 1, you set the direction to strafe into with tas_strafe_yaw As for optimizing the movement it's time consuming for sure, idk if there's really a concise way to explain it. Typically my rate is like 3 seconds of action takes about one hour to make. If you want more help join the portal discord, we have a TASing channel there.
