Ah, the good old days of the early 2000's being mocked by my cousins for seemingly "being stupid" banishing all my cards, then dropping Gren Maju Da Eiza. It only worked once, but the looks on their faces were priceless.
My first proper YGO deck was a Dark Emperor structure deck, back in 2008, and Gren Maju was one of my hardest hitting cards, along with Golden Homunculus.
Never had an issue with Gren Maju Da Eiza. I ran a high speed Lockdown-Control/Beat Down Deck able to lock all opponents out of activating traps, spells, and monster effects, with heavy removal, attack debuffers, and spamming capacity. I would regularly bring out a boss monster or two on my first turn back then, and then remove my opponent's cards quickly during their turns. I went into an 8 person free for all with everyone targeting me because they knew that they had limited time to crush me and I still won despite having initial heavy setback. My only weakness back then were high defense monsters like Exxod and Labyrinth Wall, although given enough time (a draw into Mage Power or United We Stand), I would eventually break past that as well. Unfortunately, I've been out of YGO for so long that I am essentially a boomer in the game. I hope to eventually get back into it, as well as to collect 3 copies of all cards available in the TCG, but I also know that when I get back into it, I will have to rethink my original style as while it was high speed, high aggression back then, it runs at a snail's pace in today's meta. Back when the Yata-Lock was a real problem before the ban list hit, no opponent was able to hit me with the combo. Back then, I focused on speed, balance, versatility, and power. Now I need to throw in the complicated combo engines, synchronicity, new card types, new types, new summoning methods, new card zones, new mechanics, field placements for cards and the meta around that, and now an entirely new speed format that far outpaces my once super speedy play style into my new list of things to learn. Once I learn all of that, I then have to learn how to apply all of that to my preferred playstyle to upgrade it.

13:11 I play a Qli deck and I usually summon this boss monster by using the trap card Qlife's End which can be special summoned as a monster and counts as 3 tributes for Apoqliphort cards.
I think another good point to bring up about Gren Maju is that if you're scared of your opponent deciding to destroy it as quickly as possible after summoning it face-up, you CAN set it. This makes it so that if your opponent attacks into it, they still take just as much damage with some added stealth.
I actually beat a friend with a set Gren Maju. I had a ton of cards banished, so when it was attacked, it had like 14400 ATK/DEF and did 10k reverse damage
that's a good play when they have backrow, and accomplishes the same goal most of the time as attacking outright would have, to do lots of damage for game.. I usually prefer to run it that way when i play my banish deck against friends. key part is your poker face as you set it. :)
@@GIR177 the fusion spell card specifies that cards may be sent to the gy that are named as fusion material " "Dark Magician" + "Red-Eyes B. Dragon" or 1 Dragon Effect Monster" the only 2 named monsters there are dark magician and red-eye B. dragon
I think Kozmo Dark Destroyer can have a honorable mention, 'cause destroy 1 monster on the field when it's summoned, it can't be targeted by opponent's effects and if it's destroyed and sent to the GY special summon a "Kozmo" monster with lvl7 or lower. It's just so good to that deck that it was limited lmao
That would be pretty interesting to see his take, and he could maybe show his favorite examples, or even an example of costs/requirements that aren't worth it to activate the effect.
thats way too generic. no effect is good/bad in every situation. there is no "best effect". you could say solemn judgement has the best effect, because it can always be activated and negates almost anything, but the card by itself doesnt progress your game state in any way and could easily lose you the duel if not used strategically. you could say that drawing cards is the best effect, so then pot of greed or graceful charity is the best example, but those cards are only as good as the cards you draw into and can be easily countered with something like ash blossom.
@@Always.Smarter It's not really as generic as you might think. Think about it this way, would you rather draw 1 card from the top of your deck or search your deck for a card? Search right? Search is generally better because you get exactly what you want, now some search effects are highly specific yes, which in those cases drawing might be better but generally searching is a better effect. It wouldn't be to difficult to make a top 10 list by comparing each effect this same way.
Yo ABC Dragon Buster looks like Zak and Wheezie from dragon tales. That's sick! I loved that show as a kid! Love you mother spider/duel logs. Your channel is great. Easily in my top 3 favorite yugioh related channels.
That or red eyes fusion. There's a slight chance that Anaconda will be banned but knowing Konami they'll ban the oldest card aka red eyes fusion to sell Verte and Dragun enough before doing something to them
@@SethJV Dragun is fine imo as a boss monster. The real problem is how people summon it. While Anaconda is a cool card it's way too generic. If it required 2 effect monsters including a Predaplant monster it would have been a bit more balanced.
Not that I'm complaining about your choices, they were good, but you should definetly make a part 2 with more monsters. Some may no longer be relevant, but just like Towers, legacy alone can make them noteworthy. I can think of DAD, Krystia, Quasar...
the one thing i love with Gren Maju. you can set it... your opponent pulls their 4000 atk boss monster and attacks into a hidden 18,000 def monster. or even better, attacks in with a weaker 2000 atk monster or something.... you could potentially make your opponent destroy themselves by crashing into that brick wall. yes you could attack with Gren Maju, but if you wanna pull a sneaky like that, you can... but as is, it has no protection. so you do need some set up spells/traps/handtraps just in case...
Buster Blader, the dragon destroyer swordsman is a really good boss monster, mainly because of how if you can use like a DNA surgery or buster dragon it will negate all monster effects.
Maybe if I post this 5 times and activate Law of the Normal it might be powerful enough to suggest the Top 10 best Normal Monsters in yugioh circa 2020

Yeah it was very nice getting recked by number 86 in master duels and could not do anything to stop it because i was second. Being immune to everything and locking you from summoning is really fun.
It's crazy to me how many people forgot what a blowout number 86 was in satellarknight. Obviously with gossip shadow it was way more accessible but with stellarknight you could set it up turn 1 and win very easily. In fact it was basically your only hope against qliphort in the duea big 4 meta.
Dude, You forgot to say that Dragun of Red-Eyes' effect of destroying your opponent's monsters does NOT target, Which will bypass many effects that activate when a card is targeted by a card or effect.
White T Poison I think TheDuelLogs placed it so low because it’s so new. Older boss monsters have a proven track record but Dragun may not stand the test of time. It probably will, in my opinion, but that’s what he was hinting at when he mentioned it’s brand new in Japan and hasn’t been been printed here.
In regards to honorable mentions, in no particular order 1.Blackwing full armor master (Absolute protection+permanent monster steal and/or non-targeting destruction) 2. Mathmech/ProcessSlayer (Absolute Protection + OTK w/mathmechs +easy to bring out and beat over anything using other Mathmech affects) 3. Herald of Ultimateness/ Herald of Perfection (omni-negation)
I used to have a deck built around Gren Maju da Eiza. We played with the rule (not sure if this is still a rule) where if you attack a monster with more defense points than your attack. The attacker takes the difference in damage. My favorite play with Gren Maju da Eiza, was to set him face down when he was somewhere around 10k attack and defense and just wait.
He was my ace monster in my middle schools days and is still probably my favorite to this day. It’s a shame I had already decided to quit Duel Links once they gave him to us and I got him, especially since I stopped playing the physical game many years ago too.
@@sekhyhybrid6701 atleas borreload savage requires more setup and isn’t impossible to beat over after the Omni negate. The thing that gets me with dragun is how easy it is to bring out with how much it can do. On top of the Omni negate and monster destruction burn effect, it has destruction and targeting protection, and can easily rise up to 4K with its effect
On the subterror, I used to have a deck that was actually surprisingly effective. It was ghostrick burn. In concept its goal was to lock the opponents monsters into face down def while constantly flipping cards like warwolf and stealth bird face up. Its also very funny watching the opponent react to someone who actually runs magic cylinder and attack wall (same effect as magic cylinder)
I really miss games like the old power of chaos single player grinds, I still play them when I get that ygo itch lmao - the collection part felt great, I loved the progression
It needs to be banned. It doesn’t matter if it’s at one copy, it’s still searchable AND splashable. If even just one Dragun of Red-Eyes comes out, it’s an auto win. Remember, Master Peace is banned for a reason.
boredom I like red eyes and for the fusion strategy red eyes fusion is a requirement, but I can agree it would need to be banned, putting it at 1 does next to nothing to the anaconda combo
verte anaconda is the "ban or never release" card here, summoning dragun out of RE fusion isnt actually a problem at all, because its the only card you can summon that turn, im actually baffled at how konami doesnt seem to understand how copying effects leads to broken shit 90% of the time.
howlingzangetsu The predaplant is the one that needs to get banned. Ban the other stuff and the link could still be used for all kinds of janky shit in the future (this is a card that can activate super poly from the deck without the discard cost, that should tell you just how OP it can be). However, ban the link and the red eyes fusion will barely be used in competitive decks since it has to be the only summon that turn and the fusion itself will likely only see play in rogue Dark Magician decks.
Please do Top 10 cards that are better in real life than in the anime Ex: red-eyes darkness metal dragon the anime version is shit but the playable version is one of the best cards ever
Unfortunately, you kinda need to build the deck more or less around him (it was well worth it back in the day) and these days just being able to blow up everything else on the field isn't good enough for a boss monster with no protection and needing to run more than Lumina, Raiden and Wulf in the deck. Modern versions of the deck can actually do without it.
That card is warping the OCG metagame. Thus I am rather certain poeple relize how strong the the card is. Well with Red-Eyes fusion + Preadaplant Link.
Agent of mars can also be a 3 star boss monster. Stack the deck around sanctuary in the sky and fountain in the sky, so all your Shining angels and nova summoner's repeatedly search each other then get banished by the fountain to build up life points, then special summon agent of mars with nova summoner, it's attack gaining the difference in lifepoints. 6 banished cards at 1400 = 8400 life points = at minimum 8,400 difference.
I might be a tad biased, but Odd-Eyes Vortex Dragon should probably get a mention here, at least within it's archtype. It has a negate that will spin a pendulum monster back to the deck, which can allow you to reuse a combo next turn(sending back gate zero to search it with darkwurm again, for example.) When summoned, it can return an attack position monster back to the hand to return most targetable bosses back to hand/extra deck and clear the way. Combine it with Odd-Eyes Arc Pendulum dragon in the pendulum zone, and you can revive it if your opponent destroys it, just to bounce another of their monsters. Having a once per turn bounce that can potentially happen on your turn and your opponents turn is pretty strong for the grind game. Plus the negate replenishing your deck with pendulums can allow you to reuse some combos. If you use Odd-Eyes Lancer Dragon, you can even use Lancer's effect to force any destruction on any of your odd-eyes cards to destroy vortex, then revive it with Odd-eyes Arc pendulum for the bounce. TLDR: Odd-Eyes Vortex Dragon is a solid boss monster for Odd-Eyes for bounces, negates, and even just grinding out your opponent if necessary. Just my personal favorite fun deck.
Although practically no-one knows about the hazy flame archetype i feel that hazy flame basiltrice is a relatively easy to summon boss monster as he can be summoned on the first turn with 5 xyz materials which make him really tough to beat over

13:11 I play a Qli deck and I usually summon this boss monster by using the trap card Qlife's End which can be special summoned as a monster and counts as 3 tributes for Apoqliphort cards.
Top 10 cards that almost made it into a top 10
OCG ruled that you need to use Red-Eyes B. Dragon when you use Red-Eyes Fusion for Dragun.
No wonder I couldn't use it in ygo
I understand most people were gonna do that anyway even though it means running 3 bricks, but why has a ruling made about it?
@@GIR177 the fusion spell card specifies that cards may be sent to the gy that are named as fusion material " "Dark Magician" + "Red-Eyes B. Dragon" or 1 Dragon Effect Monster" the only 2 named monsters there are dark magician and red-eye B. dragon
Couldn't you use Red Eyes Wyvern for the fusion material?
@@NickWuebker it has to be specifically the name "Red-Eyes B. Dragon" and nothing else (unless a card has that name when in deck i think)
“Honestly Apoqliphort could have taken the top spot, if the top 4 weren’t better”
Gee I never woulda guessed
Lmaooooooo he’s definitely not an English major
People die if they are killed
Every time I hear you talk about the % of people that are subscribed I feel like I'm going crazy. But it did get me subbing a good bit ago.
Can you actually make a top ten best effects in Yugioh? (such as Spell Speed 2 Destruction Effect, Draw one card, etc.)
That would be pretty interesting to see his take, and he could maybe show his favorite examples, or even an example of costs/requirements that aren't worth it to activate the effect.
ngl the list he did on the best normal spell effects kinda does relate to it but some powerful effects are missed
thats way too generic. no effect is good/bad in every situation. there is no "best effect". you could say solemn judgement has the best effect, because it can always be activated and negates almost anything, but the card by itself doesnt progress your game state in any way and could easily lose you the duel if not used strategically. you could say that drawing cards is the best effect, so then pot of greed or graceful charity is the best example, but those cards are only as good as the cards you draw into and can be easily countered with something like ash blossom.
Perfect time for an upload I was just about to have a nap
You know a card is ridiculous when it's arguably already in the top few boss monsters ever and it hasn't even been released yet.
Let that sink in...
I really like how ultimate Conductor Tyranno could really be good against Super heavy Samurais
Yo ABC Dragon Buster looks like Zak and Wheezie from dragon tales. That's sick! I loved that show as a kid! Love you mother spider/duel logs. Your channel is great. Easily in my top 3 favorite yugioh related channels.

Dragun is going to the banlist very fast lmao, way too much powerful.
Agreed, I never expected a card like that to exist.
Not too powerful but clearly broken
That or red eyes fusion. There's a slight chance that Anaconda will be banned but knowing Konami they'll ban the oldest card aka red eyes fusion to sell Verte and Dragun enough before doing something to them
@@delaw3656 Yeah, sounds legit.
Seriously tho, this card is ridiculous. How could they even think it's a good idea to release that...
I love how I’m watching this in the future and all the banned cards are unbanned and are slapping
22:02 it literally says "if you control this tribute summoned monster" so no you don't get the pop effect if summoned by true kings return
I love how masked hero dark law and #86 are both in the legendary hero decks before they got support from other cards in their archetype
Maybe if I post this 5 times and activate Law of the Normal it might be powerful enough to suggest the Top 10 best Normal Monsters in yugioh circa 2020
Amazing video! I really enjoyed the longer duration of it (I was able to wash all the dishes from start to finish hehe). As for video ideas, a part 2 of this list would be great and, a personal request: Top 10 XYZ monsters which can/could see competitive play in the future/upcoming months.
My favorite boss Monster has to be Gandora Giga Rays the Dragon of Destruction, I just wish they bring it over sooner than later.
Yeah it was very nice getting recked by number 86 in master duels and could not do anything to stop it because i was second. Being immune to everything and locking you from summoning is really fun.
"Book of the Moon"
It's crazy to me how many people forgot what a blowout number 86 was in satellarknight. Obviously with gossip shadow it was way more accessible but with stellarknight you could set it up turn 1 and win very easily. In fact it was basically your only hope against qliphort in the duea big 4 meta.
Dude, You forgot to say that Dragun of Red-Eyes' effect of destroying your opponent's monsters does NOT target, Which will bypass many effects that activate when a card is targeted by a card or effect.
he doesnt even target? meeen they gave him everything. look almost a fan made
@@lucaslucas6207 when I saw Dragoon for the first time, It took me a while to believe that he is an actual real life card
Your vids provide great nostalgia. Makes me wants to play yugi again. Cheers.
why they cant retrain the gods with dragun like effects. they still wont be oppressive anyways
dragun is arguebly more broken than most if not all the other cards in this list. i dunno why it was even number 10
JakeTheFakeReal it’s because we don’t have verde anaconda

"All the cards in this list"
Master Peace: *You dare defy me, mortal!*
3 tributes makes it pretty balanced. only reason it dominated in ocg was that it could be SPECIAL summoned pretty much in any deck.
In regards to honorable mentions, in no particular order
1.Blackwing full armor master (Absolute protection+permanent monster steal and/or non-targeting destruction)
2. Mathmech/ProcessSlayer
(Absolute Protection + OTK w/mathmechs +easy to bring out and beat over anything using other Mathmech affects)
3. Herald of Ultimateness/ Herald of Perfection (omni-negation)
Dragun of red eyes also works with dark magician deck (bring it out by using eye or timaeus)
But you ideally want to use the intended materials so you can get the most out of it.
I actually used Number 86 in a Six Samurai Deck. It was actually pretty easy to get out consistently, especially if I had Gate of the Six on the field
"Dragun of Red-Eyes" can be summoned with "The Eye of Timaeus"
Yes, but that card requires Dark Magician to be on the field first and it can't be searched.
Or just use red eyes fusion
The Giver Of Sauce what a meme
@@nexusshark Yes, but if you play "Dark Magician" deck thats not a problem.
@@bojc21 Of course it's not a problem, but Timaeus still cannot be searched, so you'll have to rely on drawing it.
This needs a part 2 or 3
I learned that Negate Cards which can negate the negate Negate Card while negating the Negate are very good Boss Monsters.
Counter Traps and Dark Ruler No More flattens them unless they're outright immune to the cards.
I just love Gren Maju! I use it in Duel Links with my Stromberg deck.
Floodgate can beat it
I tried, it always seemed so... unpredictable
My boy lava golem can beat it
He was my ace monster in my middle schools days and is still probably my favorite to this day. It’s a shame I had already decided to quit Duel Links once they gave him to us and I got him, especially since I stopped playing the physical game many years ago too.
I think you're amazing bro I follow your stuff I only play for fun but you keep me updated on good cards you rock 😎
“The reason I have colossus over titan in this list is because it’s a lot better.” Well I figured that lol
I think "Apoqliphort" is supposed to have the same syllable stress as a word like apocalypse or apocrypha.
Great video as always!
Dragun of Red-Eyes is so annoying to fight, particularly when it comes out on the first turn.
Lucent Shadow super poly is at 3 super poly it away for Starviing venom
True, however Dragun isn't usually the only omni-negater on the field. Usually you also summon Borreload Savage Dragon and/or Herald of the Arc Light.
Krawlers are the perfect counter to it
It can be Kaiju'd too. Dark Ruler No More also is a one turn shut down that monsters can't respond to.
And here I woild put my Volcanic Doomfire......if only it had a good effect.
Day 359 of waiting for New Volcanic Support to arrive
Payne 96 What do you mean? It’s an awesome effect!
wild fire token is the real boss monster :)
I really miss games like the old power of chaos single player grinds, I still play them when I get that ygo itch lmao - the collection part felt great, I loved the progression
I foresee red-eyes fusion being hit in the tcg before dragun makes it over here
It needs to be banned.
Panda true, tyrant Neptune and supreme king fusion dragon weren’t good enough examples I guess
howlingzangetsu The predaplant is the one that needs to get banned.

I refuse to live in a world where Judgement Dragon is a worse Boss monster than some random Level 3 Monster...
Fertog uhhhh, that random level 3 monster is seen everywhere in the Meta for the last few years now
I played that Level 3 monster before Lightsworn were even a thing
I legit thought that this comment was quoting an YGO villain.
For master peace you can use a trap that summons itself and still counts as a trap and one spell so it is immune to all
Your lack of “Leo the keeper of the sacred tree” disappoints me
Man, I remember when Gran Maju came out. I had 3 of them in my deck just playing against my fellow young teens and infuriating them. Good times :')
When I saw dragun of red-eyes I was happy someone realized how good this card was
That card is warping the OCG metagame. Thus I am rather certain poeple relize how strong the the card is. Well with Red-Eyes fusion + Preadaplant Link.
its not that hard to figure out when the card has 3 really good effects and is easy to summon.
Great as always!!
Looking forward for next custom card reviews
What about traptrix sera or totally awesome?
Toadally Awesome is in a prisoner-of-war camp under the control of everybody who has ever lost to such a strong amphibian
How about Top 10 Blackwing monsters/spells/traps?
Giovanni Orellana this!
Yes pls
