This is the video I have been looking for!!! I want to do one for my 562 and 585. I have been a welder and fabricator but haven’t wanted to waste the time on something that’s not going be a waste of time. Been watching a bunch of Buckin’s videos and he’s aimed me towards you , Tinman, and Donnie Walker. Hope that you are doing well and thank you for all the information that you share with us. Much love from North Carolina 🤙🤙

OOOOOHH YEAAAH,there's some fiiiine info right before my eyes and all in my ears,i tried one muffler mod (and stick to that since 6 years and still counting) using the original muffler by simply drill another same size hole next to the existing one and add a angle cut pipe to divert gases same as the original one does, and drilled 4 holes of 6mm in each sides on the end of the divider inside the muffler, that leads to an allot better working beast (12kg of beast, with a 52CC displacement, chinesium stuff, with allot of fun, gotta love the backfires when rev down),allready powerful with that 45cm long bar+full chisel chain, better air flow inside the case (better vent of the muffler also) due faster rev up,faster throttle response, heavier loads better behave, linear engine working under and between loads, all the goodies,YET little peoples knows the downsides of the muffler modding...it is a bit louder, from 93db to 98db (mine is little to notice due the better inner harmonics of the exhaust flow trough the muffler),a friend of mine made almost same mod but from 96db went to 109db wich is pretty bad considering the long therm operating that thing...don't mind the 10%-15% extra fuel consumption...power doesn't come alone...it comes with a price,aaaand...the carbon build up in the exhaust port is quite substantial....in 100 hours of work time...it's choking the port with at least 10% of the flow due the walls deposit of carbon...that is naaasty....but if you clean that port every year if you are using that beast for all year framing or just everyday as a logger (allways take the cylinder off the body to avoid future severe engine damage),still the framing guys do allot of abuse...they almost never warm up the engine...and that exhaust port choke even faster than within 1 year...otherways...that seems to be a very good ballance for me from a no brand chainsaw...better performance, less vibrations (wich often leads to severe damage on the body suspensions),lessen the sound impact despite that is actually louder by measure but due the frequency upped,to a more human comfortable margins, especially when you cut fire wood as a side job for different locals within your area, they may have nightshift or kids or a bad hangover but still need to heat theyr houses, that is a priceless achievement for me,first blind attempt=best extra options ever ! I tried 3 other ideas, all failed horribly...meanwhile,mi best wishes from Romania,IRONHOUSE,i hope you will eventually read this comment of mine,a piece of my life in here, cheers !!!

I really like that initial muffler design, I will have to do some experimenting on some of my larger saws with one of those. I would bet as small of a displacement that chainsaws are relative to that exhaust volume that you could get some tuned pipe like qualities out of that design. If you do get a reflected wave of some sort it should still lead to some stuffing. Probably not as much as a full pipe but better than an open box on the end.

First clean with weak solution of acetone, dab with (Husqvarna-Echo orange/STIHL grey/Makita blue/Dolmar red) paint soaked earbud.
Precautions : Acetone dries out the plastic ie.Not good for hardhats.
Allow paint & cyanoacrylate to dry in dust free zone

Do you worry about spark arrestor screen? in your years of logging and running saws have you ever seen a fire from a saw?. I harvest on public land and cut in summer so I kinds need one. I'm thinking if I put screen in there maybe make the holes bigger to compensate for the restriction.

Hey, Harvey! Are those stock mufflers for the huskys welded together? How to you get them to come apart at the seem? I'd be interested in buying one of your.pipes for my 266 if you interested in selling one. I put the meteor big bore P&C on it and I believe it is now holding too much heat with the stock muffler.

    nice video
would this be worth it for an MS660 with a big bore?
I would just weld the pipe on the rear part of the muffler since it would be supported better that way
    what size should I use?
