Create a Local Administrator User Account in Windows 11

The Other users is now a standalone section and is not under the Family section.
Windows 11 allows you to create a local user account if you don't want to log into your computer with your Microsoft account. This way, the user settings are specific to this computer and not shared with your other Windows devices when you sign into them.
Once you create this local user, you can then make it a local administrator on your computer using another account that has administrative privileges on the computer.
Check out the writeup on the process here.

Thanks for help me. Congratulations for your video
Thnaks for the video. But i cant do it i want to install something and it wont let me install it can you help me
Which user account is more secure?
I dont want to enter password or PIN everytime I open any app, But I a afraid using all apps in Administrator User Account makes its easy for virus to infect files,
Is it possible to have LocalUser without Password or Credentials prompt amd only consent prompt?
Thank you so, much create video.
Hello there, I created the account following your steps and I do see it in the Other Users section but I do not see it in the Start Up screen. Any thoughts!
Thank you😘
I dont have that option. I am currently in a local with no privileges. I can't install anything. How do I get access to the administrator account?
You will need the credentials for an administrator account, have an admin do it for you or change your account type so you can do things with your account.
I managed to get around it. @@OnlineComputerTips
How to not let local acount delete real admin account after being administrator ??? Is there any solution ..
Thank you. Would I want to create this type of login so that MS can't track me, or what?
This will store your password locally instead of using the one tied to your Microsoft account. You can also change your password without having to do it from the Microsoft website. It also prevents your basic Windows settings from being transferred over to another computer as it would if you were to log on to both computers with the same Microsoft account. I'm sure there are still ways for Microsoft to get some type of information from you though. You can also go to the Windows settings app and then to Privacy and security and disable anything you don't want active from there.
Thanks worked
thanks for the video. Why the local account can access the files of the Admin account ???
When you create a local account, it is a standard user by default. But you can make local account a local admin as well and that user will be able to see the other users files.
Is it possible to create a local account with no password?
After creating a local admin account - am I able to safely remove the microsoft email account? The end goal is to have a single local admin user
Yes you should be able to. Just be sure to make the local account an administrative account first.
Thanks
Can you do a tutorial on this same concept without using the other administrator but only with one standard account
You can't create an administrator account (or any account) when logged in as a standard user.
Great video
Im not able to see the family and other options in my settings menu...
I had an administrator but I mistakenly deleted that windows account. I made a local account and then I realized I don't have an administrator. I went to settings and then accounts but was not able to see family and other users...
I tried to reset the PC or even tried to bypass the admin password but it didn't work so can you help me to get the family and other users back on the settings menu!
Yeah and also I can see the deleted account but when I click to change the account it takes me back to the local account which I made.
I would appreciate it if you could help me!
You can try to enable the built in administrator account but you might not be able to do it with a standard user

You can also try one of these boot disks to see if you can do the same thing or if there are any options to change your account type. If you find that it can do what you are looking for, you might have to buy the software to make the changes though.

You can enable the administrator user and then change the password and then disable it again.

I don’t have the family or other user setting
If you click on Sign in with Local account, and switch over to a local account you can see the same screen as on the video.
so thats all A Microsoft Account is good for to Sync all ur setting etc to other Devices ? So does one also Have full Advin Rights with just a Local Account ? Cuz I only use one computer I don't have multiple Devices, just cell phone, which if I ned to check an email but not to sync anything from my DeskTop...
A local admin account has the same rights on that computer as a MS admin account.
@@OnlineComputerTips Thank you Mister,, all this time and i had no idea.👍🏻
been wanting to add my Outlook Emails in Mail But don't know since I have a Local Admin Account, will signing to to my Outlook email Accounts will it also sign-in to Microsoft Account? and make my Local Account secondary?
My Accounts > Family page doesn't have "Other users" (this video is 2 yrs old, no surprise), anyone know how to set up a local account otherwise? I just need to separate my laptop into 2 different uses, both are for myself but with a different desktop/file system for each "user" instance. I need one for work and the other for a hobby. Thanks.
It is actually still there but is now its own section called Other Users. If the account you are logged in as is not a local admin, I don't think you will see the Other Users option.
Why is it that all my data and folders are under the user name of an account I stopped using long ago, after factory resetting about 3 times, each with intentions of never using these previous accounts/emails again and just making 1 brand new fresh account/email with nothing tied to it. Under my group or user names it shows what I assumed was my current account called
(1) Administrators(MYPCName/Administrators) full control
(2)SYSTEM that seems to have full control as well, denied access for very few things like transferring files games movies to an portable hard drive and sometimes as little as just deleting a programs, apps, movies.
(3) Users (MyPCName/Users) without modify/write full control
(4) (Everyone) also without modify/write full control
And none of these accounts have special permissions checked
Did you backup your user files and then restore them after reinstalling Windows? Or were they perhaps on a different drive or partition?
I dont want the User 1 to access my files which are in the User2 account. How do i deal with it?
For now it can be accessed through:
Local disk c> Users> User2 .
but i dont want it so. Can I change it?
If user 1 is a local admin then they will be able to see the files for user 2. You can add a deny security setting for user 1 on user 2s files but user 1 can still possibly get to them if they know how to get around it.
If i make the user2 local admin i can still access the file through user1. How do i deny security settings for user 1?
Right click the folder and go to Properties and then the security tab. From there you can choose user 1 and then the deny boxes. Just be careful when doing this because you can lock that user or yourself out of things if you don't do it right.
I can't delete certain files. It says only an admin can do that. I set up an admin acct using your instructions but when I log in to it I can't see the files I want to delete! This is infuriating! Why did Microsoft do this? Makes no sense. I you buy their product or license it you should be able to do that.
Are these files you want to delete on the desktop or documents etc. of the other user account? If so you will need to go to that accounts user folder under C:\users\username to find their files while logged in as administrator.
Nothing shows on accounts tab, just an endless spinning loading icon, brand new Alienware M17 laptop
I did This Only But It Is Showning Black screen. Pls Help
Showing a black screen at what part of the process?
My comp doesn’t have family and other users
If the account that you are logged in as is not an admin, then you wont have the option to create a new account.
@@OnlineComputerTips does that mean I should have admin account to create a new administrator account?
Yes you need to use an admin account to create any type of account. Here is a way to get around it though.

I did this for my 11-year old kid's laptop that he uses for school. I have office 2021 installed. It shows in my user account but not in his account. I can't access Word, Excel or any other office programs. What am I doing wrong?
Try going to File and then Account in Word etc. and then click the Switch account link and log in with his account.
Is local user account different to admin account?
Yes because you can make a local user account a standard user or an administrative user after you create the account. You can switch them back and forth too if needed. You will need to be using an admin account to change a standard user to an admin user though.
May I have a piece of your advice?
My cousin gave me her laptop after she finished her study. How will I completely remove (change profile) all her details as an admin and change it to mine as a new admin?
@@Summersolstice1826 Create a new account for yourself and make it an admin account. Or you can use your Microsoft account to sign in as yourself but make sure it's an admin account as well. Then once your account is ready, log in with it and go to the users and remove her account. You can then remove her profile information such as documents and photos etc. by going to C:\Users\HerUsername. Or you might want to back it up before deleting it if she needs it.
Do I need to create a local user account first then change it as an admin in order to replace the original admin?
Is it advisable to reset the laptop in order to totally remove all the files and change the previous administrator who was first registered as the laptop's owner?
