- I think this is very predatory to make people pay more then once to get cosmetics if you play on more then one server. Cosmetics should be unlocked for your account not just for the server that you purchased it on.

I thought the server population users that are currently logged into the server but I don't really know for sure. Also the cosmetics being server based was kind of the reason I thought they initially only wanted one server per account. Also server pops got exacerbated with the new beta rewards being transferred from Netease to a steam account. I like every other steam user that wanted the Beta gear had to redownload the game on Netease and make a throw away character on a server that will never be used again.
Server decision is not something new, I have always made damn sure I pick the one my friends are on because I fully expect to lose any progress if I switch. WoW had paid server transfers, thats all they need to do and you can keep your stuff.

cosmectics are character bound only atm because the original system was only meant for players to have one character, they have openly stated that in august cosmetics will be account bound
Based on the choices needed when linking my game to Twitch to get the Twitch drops, I even think that things are not just server bound but specifically character bound. I have this theory since I needed to choose a specific character to link to twitch.
This happened because during release people were upset about only 1 character which was compounded because people were on wrong servers, could not play with friends, could not get into a server because full, so could not even play on another server, etc. So they rushed out a patch to let people have more then one character. The side effect was the system was still set up for that original character to get the items because that's how they made the game.
And as said by others, there is a patch in august that will make it all account bound. That includes any previous purchases. So this will mean any character on any server will inherit these purchases. They did make a point to mention cosmetics only, never usable items *which makes sense.
I'm of 2 minds. Either A. They knew what they were doing and knew that they could "humbly apologize and fix" anything players caught of and didn't like, while leaving the stuff noone notices ($50 build set, aka pricing and bad currency conversion practices) and did this intentionally. Or B. They didn't know these things wouldn't be liked and are now doing their absolute best to fix them. This means they didn't know their intended audience at all. MMO players - Wipes are not acceptable, but high purchase prices are okay generally if cosmetic. Survival Crafter players- Wipes are normal, playing with friends is 100% required period, no debate. If you are going to market to these players and don't know the value proposition your offering them, then it still just as bad.
@@dekkar I just give them the benefit of the doubt. this game has every genre of game I enjoy all in one. I'm a game supporter and dont mind shelling out for something that hooks me in. We only have one life to live and at the end of the day I'm going to have the outfit I want on my character so no point in me crying about it. Kudos if they fix it, that would be the best outcome. But if they dont it was a choice I made to buy the item during a turbulent time. They said they will fix it so, hopefully that goes well.
As for the wipes, Im not fond of the idea but we will see how it all works out. I get to keep the base I built and progress made on the story line. Im used to Survival builders and MMO's and the game is only 3 weeks out. I'm giving them time to improve.
Yeah, the server thing really pissed me off. Exact same thing happened too me. I hope they do something about playing with friends. They really need too do something about that cosmetic thing. it's horrid and is not going to fly. It's a real shame because I love the game loop of exploring, fighting, base building. I'd hate to see them do something so shitty.
They did say recently, they are going to change the cosmetics you buy so you have them on all your characters by August.
I'm pretty sure they said they're going to fix that. It's tied to only having 1 character, that they fixed in the first week.
I was doing my usual of holding off on dropping any money until I felt it was worth it, dipped into a second server and found that the battlepass progress was unique which is fair enough for a free player but not a system I'll buy into.
To play devils advocate, they did initially plan on one character per account by design which would explain the cash shop not covering multiples so this could be an oversight that's being worked on to get sorted rather than them pulling an EA.
Battle pass is server limited because u get important resources on it. Might be mistaken but they commented on the battle pass
Also found out the hard way with a battle pass. I guess they meant for us to only have one character at first and changed their mind and are going to fix it but i am not sure just hear/say for me at this point
They planned to have more then one character down the road they said.. but the 1 character caused so many issues during release that it was effecting game play because of other issues (Servers etc). So they made it possible to make new characters. (side effect being - things such as this were not established; but will be patched in august). Battle pass progress will never be shared across servers. You have to re-level if another server; they want each server to be its own contained growth, so nothing will change there. New server, new character.
(But as said cosmetics in shop will be account wide in august; the only exception to that rule).
They have said that they will be fixing this in Aug.

i already get my skins on all server my mates do too well the ones from uk do but my other m8 from canada says he dont either so god knows lol
@@dekkar Yes, I do. Eastern culture(s) and western culture(s) have some large differences.
I learned this the hard way too. This def needs to change... They need to utilize the steam inventory system like other games.
Sorry wak but this is partial misinformation sharing. They have already multiple times on multiple occasions shared the info on how they have decided to change these practices with skins, and in august patch they shall make all cosmetics account bound and not server/character bound. If you want more info check latest pirate software vid on this topic. In regards to duplicate cosmetics they have shared that they will refund the costs of what people have paid. I hope you guys go on enjoying the game for it is and with the heart that this issue will be settled.

Yeah they addressed this issue very early on after talking with Pirate Software and other content creators.
@@The_raggedyman I think its great that they are changing it. That doesn't change the taste it leaves because it was there in the first place. This wasn't an accident, it was intended, even if bad. Thankfully the devs have learned that these practices aren't cool with western gamers. As Pirate Software shared in his video. However the fact its done, still has Pirate Software saying he'll come back in a few months, not say that he'll buy in today.
Thanks for the video Wak, I think the bigger takeaway from this is that they are doing a very poor job of communicating how almost anything in this game works.

thanks for sharing this! i just wanted to buy the glas building cosmetic. but after hearing this, ill simply wont and wait until i hear they changed it. and the bigger question: will it be transferred into the next season? if its serverbound, then maybe it wont, which would be even worse.
That’s a good question also. Unfortunately some answers won’t come until the season ends and we see how it’s treated. Hopefully they will fix this.
In august it will be patched, any purchase made since release (cosmetics) will be shared among all characters on any server (account bound) and no nothing like this is effected by seasons. The catch of the seasons is items given during it (cosmetics) can only be gained by playing in that season and never again and only for the character on that server.
This patch will only be for cash shop purchases (cosmetics). Maybe down the road things obtained during season (cosmetics) will be made as such too but they have said nothing about that. They also said battle pass items will also only be server based. But you are free to level up the pass on another server again to unlock the items.
These things come up 100x a day in discord.

Still no one mentions that you have to disable adguard/pihole to run this game - that was the dealbreaker for me.
I'm going f2p on this one. Noone in their right mind would spend 40$ for a rare armor skin. The "buy once for each server" means they don't care about customers, only about their money.

its not the server progression thts causing tht problem its even when ppl join server and dont ever play again it still takes tht spot on server and locks them in to tht server thts why they were on about merging server as this would kick the inactive players they have been saying tht on there discord since full release. i dont know wht ur on about with ur skins not going server to server i get all mine on every server i play on so i dont know why u dont even my mates get on all servers too everyone iv spoke to so far can aswell

I think the server saying low means that there are low number of slots not low population. I think thats why the new servers say high.
The server low tag is referring to the amount of people currently logged in on the server not the amount of people who have created an account on the server.. It is a bit confusing when you are used to the tag referring to the mount of overall space left.
I would never buy base skins for almost 50 euros, sorry but anyone who buys this is stupid...
I'd rather spend my money on fashion, at least when there's finally something good in the shop because the clothing skins are ugly 🤢
Ps. And the game is way too easy and, everyone who will now tell me "wait for pro" NO! It will never be difficult because it has to remain playable for mobile players, it is casual and stays that way.
That's a pretty biased opinion. How much dps do u do? Alot of ppl having a hard time with hards. We are also in the novice season. Ur logic does not stand up to scrutiny
Cosmetic will be fixed to be account bounds in August. Services full it has a specific number of players that can receive. So let's say that number is thousand hypothetically speaking, if thousand players join server 6 for example nobody can join anymore, even if certain people are not playing at all they took the spot.
The fact that it launched without being account bound, and servers are built this way in the first place is a vast oversight, or intended to be there, then fix what players notice. Both feel a bit scummy.
I agree, quite stupid. Really I think as many games are there already how on Earth developers don't think of something better. They see mistakes of many failed games, make different. There is a say learn from others mistakes, not yours. But game companies always choose the wrong one.

You said you played the beta.... how do you not know that this game is a trap? The devs didn't listen to any of the feed back they got from the beta. Release is exactly the same as the beta but with more cash shop items and more deviants to collect. I honestly can't wait for the first wipe to happen so that people realize that there is no content in this game and that it was meant to be a cash grab so all the channels stop talking about it.
3:07 why would it include the build sets? Those are blueprints not cosmetics, and blueprints are listed on the inheritence page

Wak, we love you and love all the info you give us. However this video today was very surprising and hateful when most of it has already been addressed. I know you made a post about it and pinned it but there are a lot that only watch the video and trust what you say. You should do something to correct this video. You are better than this.

Between the wipes and the account, server, and cosmetic issues, I'm already done with this game.

The he** with that. That is the douchiest practice that I have seen in a while. I was going to start playing the game, but there is no way that I will knowing that progress is force reset, store items are not account bound and if I convince one of my friends to come play, we will be forced to both start over somewhere that I dont own the items I have bought. Misinformation, this was already explained and fix is coming in aug, only reason for this was due to the complains of character loc at the begging and them releasing the lock, not predatory at all....
