Great review. I own and love the exact Rolex DEEPSEA. But I tried on the Omega the other day and it felt amazing. The Omega felt like it hid the size better and seemed really wearable...especially on the rubber strap. I would really like to add the ULTRA DEEP and have both.

Thanks for your kind words ; )
      Two absolute stunners!
The James Cameron would be sooo good, but equally I love that the black dial is keeping step with the Sub and SD.
The Blue/Black UD scratches that itch though perhaps?
I find the DS way more comfortable, but there is not enough in it to make that a deciding factor.
Have you thought about discount on the UD if you do get one?
15% was possible as soon as they hit the AD's in the UK a year ago, so I would say 20% min now.

@@wristopia4101 We can still get an RS6 Avant in Canada. I see a black one driving around sometimes and it's an insane amount of car and as good as it gets IMO. I had a 2017 Golf R and that was a speedy go-cart! Has a lipstick red S4 and SQ5 as well. Got rid of the SQ5 last year for a Lexus GX 460 that I love. Best truck I've ever had and also left the speed behind me. I'm much more well behaved with a sluggish off-road V8! Going to both Omega and Rolex today to look at both of these watches and will see how long a wait for the Deepsea. Not sure I'll wait forever though and might bite the bullet on an Ultra Deep. The dark blue dial or the white dial/bright blue bezel is the question! Might want to do a rubber band, but would rather get the steel one and buy the rubber one later. Doesn't seem like the rubber band is available separately though..

I tried on the Rolex two days ago and it felt very nice for its size. I think I would prefer the sea dweller 43mm though. They didn’t have one for me to try on. I wish Rolex would offer the 43mm without the cyclops or a no date version. I own an Omega PO and looking at this chunky Omega, I really like the looks better than the Rolex. I like the way Omega puts a beveled edge on the case. It presents itself thinner on the wrist imo.

Hi, thanks for this video, I very munched enjoyed it, since I was battling to decide. But I was leaning towards the Omega, I think Omega just got this so perfect! My only question is, after all the Omega is 45.5mm, which is 1.5mm bigger than the Rolex. Ones it feel bigger? Secondly, is this the kind of watch that you wear tight, or loose? Thanks!

    • @wristopia4101
      @wristopia4101  6 месяцев назад +1

      Hi there,
So glad the video was helpful.
I will answer the easy question first.
Personally I aim to wear all watches the same way, not too tight, not too loose.
I do not see the size and weight changing anything.
      Yes, the Omega feels bigger!
They are both big though, so I do not see that as a deciding factor.
I love big watches, and have a 7.5" wrist.
I have only worn the Rolex for hours at a time, and the Omega for a day or two (on holiday last year) at a time.
The Rolex is definitely more 'wearable' (for multiple reasons), but there is not much in it.
They both have different qualities, which I see as complimenting, rather than competing (sorry if that sounds crass).
My favourite watch is the PO 600m, which is much smaller, but still not something I would consider a daily for me after wearing it for a whole week once.
I also feel (as I said in the video) that the bracelet on the Omega is too small for its size, but that's just an aesthetic thing mainly, and I am unsure if a wider one would help with comfort, or just add annoyingly to weight.
The Omega puts a bigger smile on my face, but that takes nothing away from the Rolex.
Can I ask which watch you have that's nearest to it?
Also, are you in the UK?
You really should be getting at least 15% off list for the Omega (let me know if you need help with achieving that).
What colour do you have in mind?
      Hope all that helps.
Please let me know if you have any other questions ; )

14:42 what on Earth are you even talking about here my man? 🤦‍♂️ The “cupcake” helium escape valve on the SMP 300 is DEFINITELY barely noticeable. I’ve had mine now for a year and it does not bother me at all and when I do actually notice that it’s there……the last thing that I think is how “annoying” it is 🙄. Each to their own, I just really do not like the shape and the whole watch design is not for me, so the SMP300 HEV is the cherry on the cupcake!
I agree with you that we just get used to things we don't like being there, and I actually hope Omega keep the HEV on any new Planet Ocean because on balance I think it adds to the watch, and I do like the brand recognition.
It is odd though that we love such small differences in watches, but then say we do not notice quite a big thing we do/may not like.
A manual HEV is also another crown that you have to ensure is screwed down in water or even just humidity ; )

Well that's one (slightly rude?) way to look at it I guess.
My take is that evolution is a good thing.
A watch can only be so different, it's not like a car or house, that can.
Someone who has multiple watches will probably enjoy having both types, and someone with one just wants the best one I would have thought, so history is pretty much irrelevant IMO.
Omega does not seem particularly 'young' to me, although the Planet Ocean and Ultradeep (and Speedster X33 Quartz) are very fresh feeling.
The Ultradeep needs to 'evolve' a bit IMO.
Evolution has certainly benefited the 600m PO and X33.
