I hope i have that pc, it’s beautiful But I’m wondering if i can run windows 3.1 for my old pc… I don’t know if you still remember it :/ The old motherboard that died, it just revived by just replacing the cpu to pentium 4 or celeron… Now its working now but the case was used with another old motherboard… 😅 Well here is the specs: Intel Celeron 256mb Of Ram 160GB Storage S3Trio..? (I’m not sure what is the model yet) I believe the old motherboard is have via ac97, im not sure it can support it…
Nice sound card, can't figure out who makes it to track down a full driver set but I bet Vogons could help. It has a QS700 wavetable + 1 mb QS702 soundfont ROM, so it should be a fun option for games that support general midi... plus a legit Yamaha OPL3 chipset on the same board, with the OPTI 82C930a for SB Pro/16 emulation but also has it's own FM synth/OPL3 "clone" function. No jumpers so I'm assuming it will at least initialize with the latest Unisound driver... I'm curious if the wavetable initializes via the on board MIDI. If you look up the OPTI 82C930a and UNISOUND on Vogons you should end up with some software options... the trick is initializing and accessing the wavetable synth stuff.
yeah, the soundcard is still a work in progress. As it worked for effects and voices, I left it well enough alone. Getting the sweet Doom 2 music is ongoing.
Yea, I think Unisound will initialize the GM and FM synth elements as the poster below indicates.. as long as it plays nicely on the card's default General MIDI address (300/330). Nice get in the card, this looks like an aftermarket upgrade of some sort, usually the PacBell's ran rebadged Aztech cards up to and including the Waverider models which used a similar GM wavetable synth chipset but with a smaller ROM soundset.@@UncleMikeRetro
No way, We had a PC Almost exactly like this when I was growing up... Ours had 1.275gb hdd and was purcased at London Drugs in BC Canada. In the end we upgraded it to a P100 and 24mb ram with Win98 because I wanted to play Starcraft... I miss that old machine.
I believe my grandmother bought it for me from Dillard's. I remember playing warcraft and warcraft 2 on it and being my first successful attempt at using the modem to call my friends PC and play against each other. I also remember playing the original elder scrolls.
An old 90s PC using true power with a Pentium 166, maybe Windows 95 or the BIOS doesn't understand 199MHz, but hey, if it runs, no need to fix it
it runs! Yeah, I left well enough alone.

I really believe it will not successfully run Win 3.1
i tried overclocking my p133 to 166 but it would lock up under duke3d
that is odd, because these usually just work. can you change the clock multiplier?

my boards with the builtin qdsp work with unisound and general midi works with the assigned port.
more great info!

Memories like that are why I am doing this as a hobby! Thanks for sharing, pal!
Congrats on 5K subs Mike! Hope you are doing well.
Very well, thanks, pal! VCF Midwest for the win!
HI
hello!
What a nice find Mike! Thanks for sharing
Thanks for watching! As always, you are too kind 🥰
Clean looking PC, your usual standard.
flatterer! 😍
I had a packard bell that exact same chassis.
I wanted one so bad back then. Trying to get a handle on my Packard Bell 60 MHz Pentium system. Even MORE retro!

I am sure you used an AOL disk back then for the interwebs!
