    Kate Bush? Thank you! My heart is melting. I heard your Canadian accent immediately.

    you are barking up my tree...44 yr old goth industrial head here and I know every single album you highlighted...especially Skinny Puppy (I've seen them 6 or 7 times now live starting with the Last Rights tour and Godflesh was amazing as well in that tour). My new dig now is aggrotech, taking that harsh industrial bent and mixing it with dance music 4 on the floor goodness. On the point of Sig Ros, there are some awesome film experiments that are all stellar. Keep doing you...awesome channel.

    • @LiisaLadouceur
      @LiisaLadouceur  5 лет назад

      Thanks! I'm not so much into the Aggrotech but I recently saw Author and Punisher live and that gave me all the olde school feels!

      @@LiisaLadouceur it's amazing how time can get away from us. Your mention of Haunted took me back to my 20s grabbing up the contacts off the floor and wanting to relive that bit of nostalgia. Great and defining moments dictated by the pantheon of sound and the subculture we embraced.

  • @Flux799

    Depeche Mode - Black Celebration is probably the most important record I've ever listened to. Again another great transition record for them.

    • @LiisaLadouceur
      @LiisaLadouceur  5 лет назад

      Classic for sure! I'm partial to Violator or Songs of Faith and Devotion.

    • @Flux799
      @Flux799 5 лет назад +1

      @@LiisaLadouceur I agree with you on those two. I think it's unique listening to a record where a band is in the midst of a transitional period. Just like Sisters of Mercy's Vision Thing..that transition into the more guitar driven sound. So good!

    Interesting list. Some of your choices are mine too. My list would be like this: 1. Skinny Puppy - Remission & Bites (When I first heared this I was blown away and seeing them live was something that I never experienced before). 2. Anything from Sigur Ros, here I am totally on your way. 3. TOOL - Aenima (I never heared a rock sound like this before. Tool is awesome. If you don't know them, take a listen) 4. Alien Sex Fiend - All Our Yesterdays (When I discovered them, they where around for a while. All this stuff came on very bad quality tapes back then. I never payed much attention to them on the tapes, because of the sound. Then I got this record on vinyl and was hooked) 5. Deep Purple - Made In Japan (My first record. The sound of it is still amazing.) 6. Fields Of The Nephilim - Ceromonies live. (Carl themes to get even better, the older he gets. This DVD/CD is in my opinion one of the best representations of Goth-Rock. 7. Sisters Of Mercy - First And Last And Always (I pick the first Album, because of the more organic sound of it. I love Floodland too, but in an different way. Plack Planet and Marian are just genius in my opinion) 8. Christian Death - Only Theatre Of Pain (My Introduction to "American Gothic". I was so sad when Rozz died.) 9. Metallica - Metallica (Just because Enter Sandman was the song that opend me to more metal sounds.) 10. Pink Floyd - Dark Side Of The Moon (It totally changed the way I listen to music today) Greets from Germany!

    PLEASE TALK ABOUT SoM they got me into goth in 2013 from the worlds end with Simon Pegg self proclaimed recovering goth and amazing actor. My fave actually. But I heard this corrosion and fell into a deep rabbit hole of amazing tracks from all of floodland to first last and always and then some girls wander by mistake and little of vision thing but I like more. I’ve been on the journey since then and recently had a kidney transplant and recovery involved deep dives of goth and post punk music. I got into the cure, sioxsie and they banshees, children on stun, fields of the nephilim, and like thirty others (yes I took a list down). Been having so much fun just exploring my darkness and always had something of a romantic relationship with the dark and unusual. I frequent a local Richmond oddities and curiosities shop near a cemetery from 1800s and earlier.

    This was great and a real good introduction, especially if you're a newcomer and wants to dig into the goth music scene. I actually never knew The Cult was considered goth, I just thought their sound was awsome when I first began listening to them back in the late 80's. How about a video about the goth themed books you like? You seem to have quite a collection of books in general and I think I spotted some goth related titles in there ;)

    Love and Rockets are a big fav of mine I used to have a little soft spot for Daniel Ash 😂
    I loved Southern Death Cult but it was The Cults “ Love “ album that was glued to my record player back then.
    “ Rain” being my favourite track .
    I’m really enjoying a lot of the “ newer “ post punk bands like Selofan and She Past Away as well as my trad stuff .

    I just watched your "Goth themed books" video and I really enjoyed that so curiosity got the best of me and decided to take a peek into your channel and found this video, which I decided to watch as well. I noticed you like quite a few things I like as well. The Cult, Love & Rockets, Skinny Puppy, Kate Bush etc.. Great taste in music.
    I sat here thinking about which albums I would include were I to make a video like this and I found out very quickly, I would have a *_VERY_* tough time limiting myself to just 10 albums (I'm sure I could do it but, it would probably take me a while). I admire the fact that you could narrow it down to a Top 10.
    Very interesting info and views on those albums from your perspective. Glad I blindly stumbled onto your vids and channel. Always nice to meet a fellow music fan..

    I hated floodland when I first heard it nearly used it as a Frisbee. Thankfully I discovered FALAA shortly after and was in love

    • @dgraveley34
      @dgraveley34 3 года назад

      I think most of those that hear it for the first time have differing opinions on it. It was my introduction to goth music and I got into FALAA not too long after that was consumed and digested and left me wanting a more dark and moody sound. Can’t get any sexier and gothic than afterhours. That is my dark room candles lit track of tracks. Maybe neverland a fragment also but those just touch that dark nerve that itches for a twanging every now and then. Will be keeping up with this for as long as I can!

    I have a question, hopefully you can answer it!
    do the 80's bands from the goth scene, made any clothes important/iconic/highlight for the goth style(or fashion in general)?

    • @dgraveley34
      @dgraveley34 3 года назад +1

      Fields of the nephilim might have made western dusters/ long coats extremely cool. Also possibly Andy Eldritch made aviator sunglasses 🕶 at all times popular. The all black look and Victorian style look can be credited partially to Patricia Morrison I think. Modern day Morticia Addams! I guess siouxsie Sioux made Egyptian eye makeup popular but I think it could be said to have been inspired by cleopatra or perhaps Elizabeth Taylor’s portrayal and costume as that character.
