Backpacking Yosemite During Auroras

- After looking at the weather all weekend without knowing about the possibility of the Northern Lights appearing, I decided to head to Yosemite after work Friday. I had no reservations, no permits or place to spend the night. Hopefully a friend let me join them at Camp 4 and that was the beginning of a magical weekend in Yosemite.
After setting everything up and had dinner, I looked at the sky and was completely red/pink. I run over to Lower Yosemite Falls and took some pictures.
The day after, I was hoping to get a walk in permit to go backpacking in the wilderness. I arrived to the wilderness center and told me I had to wait till 11AM and hope that someone cancels. In the mid time, my friend invited me to have breakfast that he was cooking in the valley. Got back to the center at 11AM and luckily got my permit!
I packed my backpack and started heading to Upper Yosemite Falls hoping the Northern Lights will appear again. I got to the spot, set up everything and waited. Around 9:30 PM the sky started to turn purple and it was one of the most beautiful things I’ve ever seen. It didn’t lasted too long the 2nd day but it was still something.
Crazy to think that there were Northern Lights in Yosemite. Definitely a weekend Im never going to forget and happy I was able to make it after doubting on going.

Lucky Dog! Just am awesome awesome experience! (I was in that spot in April... there was still 3-5 feet of snow. Carried everything AND snowshoes up to the top of the falls. An absolutely gorgeous slice of Yosemite.)
