Classic Game Room reviews SEGA RALLY for Sega Saturn! Sega's 1994 off-road arcade racing game features a few rally cars like the Toyota Corolla, Lancia Detla and Lancia Stratos competing on a handful of tracks around the world. The Saturn version shows its age but was really fun at the time! GAME OVER YEAAAAHHHH!!!!! - Игры
Well I absolutely love arcade racing games, and Sega Rally is one of my all time favorites. I remember playing this in my room on a small 13 inch Sony Trinitron TV all day long. No racing game to me at the time was able to match the handling and precise controls of Sega Rally. I think I might have been able to get through the first two courses in this game without ever touching the brake once. This was easily one of my most played games on the system next to Nights. Ah, the memories.
"Where did YOU learn to drive?"
+Low Bryan
That was a nice reference ^^
its actually who talk you hw 2 drive but still noice avgn refrnc.
you do realise that you can use the saturn analog controller for analog handling AND acceleration, right? How on earth can you have such a massive ratio of up votes when this is literally one of the Saturn's best games! This is a GREAT game.
GAME OVER YEEEEEEEAAAAAH!!
+metalmugen More games need that :D
+metalmugen G.I. Joe!
+MosoKaiser Angry Jooooe
+metalmugen best game over music ever :DD
+metalmugen When I was a teen I played alot of Sega Rally at the arcade. I thought when you lost it said "game over agaaaainn". LOL.
I know this video is a old review. I disagree about about a couple of things said in this review. First is that it's not a launch title. Plus I think the graphics are awesome at the time. Sega Rally was in the second generation of games that includes Virtua Fighter 2 and Virtua Cop. These 3 titles showed what the Saturn was capable of compared to the launch titles.
I want "Game Over YEAH! on my tombstone when I die :D
Was this a legit review? I kept waiting for the part where he says "only kidding, this is a great game"Sega Rally is considered by pretty much everybody to be one of the best Sega Saturn games! The controls and gameplay to this day are fantastic! Also - Sega Rally was certainly NOT a launch title. Don't know where your getting that info from but it ain't right.
I'm late to respond to this, but Mark actually corrected himself in his Daytona USA review, saying, "I mistakenly said in a previous review that Sega Rally was a launch title. I was thinking of this game".
Trash review ... this game is great
7:07 WHAT THE FU** MARK!! YOU GAVE ME A HEART ATTACK!
+GRreanimation someone nicked the slap bass from the seinfeld theme
LOL LOL
Ahhhh CLASSIC classic game room. This makes me feel good and reminds me of the video of mark going to buy the Saturn. Man we had some good times on the show! Thank you for so many good RUclips memories CGR!
YESSS! ITS BACK, thanks for putting the review back online Mark
So many hours of my life were spent with this game, best times for sure!
For those of you that are OCD about losing info as much as me, the original review was uploaded on August 29, 2008, and the original video was 9:11 in length (8:23 here). The only difference as far as I can tell is Mark shortened the awesome song at the beginning because lolyoutube.
Back in the day these old racing arcade cabinets were so inviting to sit in. I remember playing Sega Rally, Daytona, Cruis'n USA and even Outrunners in the arcades. I pitty the new generation of kids that never even heard of these games.
Good for you man! Here have a cookie. *cookie*
I remember this from my childhood! Easy Right, Easy Left, Easy Right! Over/Jump!
Arguably the greatest game on the system - including the shooters, fighters and Treasure trio. Sega Rally 2 was a disappointment because the framerate would dip to 30fps around the tracks corners and no racing game can touch the perfect handling of this Saturn port. It's probably the only truly essential PAL / US release in my book.
+Fattydeposit I agree, Sega Rally was a great port - but surely VF2's on that essential list! Incredible port (and game).
+Fattydeposit uhh daytona? Really though sega rally 2 was exactly where it needed to be, the tech here wasn't quit there
+Fattydeposit Tottaly agree with you... I am still looking for a handling like this one...I thought I was crazy being the only one that thought this handling perfect! Sega Rally 2 was a dissapointment to me too... More tracks and less fun. I play the actual Dirt's and WRC's and nothing compares to this game... Sega could bring it back with the same gameplay...
+Fattydeposit When I got a Saturn last year the first game I played was Sega Rally and I thought WOW this is amazing, I've been missing out with this system. It's far better than Sega Rally 2. Then I played like 200 more games and none were as good, ah well. I agree it's the best. And yeah VF2 was good.
classic game room is crazy lol dunno what he thinking
This game is inmortal, best replayability ever
We dont mind the reposts; please just put the original air date!
+Francois Roy This. I think someone should bring it up on the next Q & A
+Francois Roy He had to re-post it because RUclips removed the original for "copyright" issues with the music. He spoke about it in a few Q&As
This reminds me of the good ol' days, never got it to work on my dad's pc back in the day.
Sega should make saturn collection pack.
Totally tripped me out to hear Dark City mentioned, I always remember watching it but never the the title. Thanks for jogging my memory man.
Toyota Corolla? I think you mean "Celica" Mark.
I love the reuploads as I didn't get into RUclips until about two years ago. I get to see a lot of content I missed. One thing though, would love to have original upload dates if possible. Not necessity, just curious.
Is this original? I feel like I may have seen it already
I'm also confused
+creative_username I thought so too.
The original one was removed due to copyright
Fun fact i just watched the original one last Thursday
+creative_username Mark is reuploading the old reviews for better Quality
Mark I love the way you review games it keeps me at peace, and I love how you love Sega Genesis. Did you know that certain composers like Yuzo Koshiro used both the music chips(1 for the Genesis and 1 for the backwards compatiblity Master system) in the genesis for certain genesis games like Streets of Rage?
one of my favourite classic games and loved the great classic arcade rally game
What? Sega Rally 1 on the Saturn is far better than Sega Rally 2 on the Dreamcast. Mark is the first person ever who argued otherwise...
Saturn is a pile of trash
@@chadbrick67 your a dumbass
@@chrisbayer7294 yes you are how refreshing. Thats why it failed because it was trash. This is a reality based fact. Ps2 full arcade version is where its at. Ooooooh flawless victory
@@chadbrick67 bravo sir..
@@chrisbayer7294 that's correct address massa as sir
marc love cgr hope u never stop homie
Love this and also of course SEGA Rally 2 on the Dreamcast...
GAME OVER YEEEEEEEAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!
I've never really understood you're love for Sega Rally 2 on the Dreamcast Mark, I was massively disappointed by how bad the graphics were and it's 30 fps frame rate. The Dreamcast could've handled a much better looking conversion (just look at how good Daytona USA 2001 looked - and in 60fps) but Sega were doing that Windows CE thing at the time which consequently resulted in a highly compromised version of the game. Conversely, I'm equally surprised you didn't have more love for this version of Sega Rally on the Saturn, it's commonly regarded as one of the best Saturn games ever.
+MrThunderwing And, wait-a-second. I've seen you do lots of Saturn reviews before, is this a re-release of an old video or something, hence the '1st Saturn review' mention?
MARK! Are you going to do Sega Rally 2 on Dreamcast?
Also Hideki Naganuma (of jet set radio) did the music for this or the dreamcast one
I'd love it if you'd review Last Bronx!
I played this game back in the day. I remember it being alright, not too bad for just your standard 3d racer.
GAMMMMEEEEEE OVVVEERRRRRR YEAHHHHAHHHHHHHH
What a day to live in, where alcoholic references aren't censored in games.
All Sega Arcade game music is awesome from 0 to the end. They never start horrible.
I believe Sega Rally is an AWESOME showcase for the Sega Saturn, low poligon aside, the game is FAST and SMOOTH. compare it to any other racer at the time
White with red and green accents. That cornflakes car looked rad.
+DegenerateProduction Sponsored by Castrol oil , i believe
Love this game! May have aged on the graphics, and only has 4 stages, 3 if you don’t unlock the 4th, but.... Such fun!! 🎮😁
i recall the review being longer was this version on youtube trimmed down?
Another re-upload?
Was the original video deleted?
Love this review but it always griped me that he says it's a launch title. Still a fantastic review and I'm actually kinda nostalgic about it lol.
Yes it has blocky polygons , but it did handle well , especially with the Saturn''s steering wheel , and i think this was the compromise , if the rendering was better perhaps the controls would have been laggy , can't be any worse than that sega touring car game
this game is a part of my childhood.
Lord Karage sounds a little tired. Don't worry Mark, rest is coming in January. Thanks for the memories.
Loved the Lancia Delta in this game.
Believe it or not.... Sega actually released a soundtrack for Sega Rally!!!
It's called Sega Rally Championship: IGNITION .
The album also features an extended version of the intro theme "Power Games".
bizarre review, this game completely minces sega rally 2. Amazing game and looked pretty close to the arcade game.
Mark, never stop making CGR! I consider you a friend, I have to, you try to put games in the wrong systems... That's just, it's, It's so classic!
I loved this game in that time
Wowwwwwww
Perfect saludos cordiales desde Michoacán de Ocampo México
This game is awesome! Steve Vay take part on the composition of Sega Rally the original soundtrack! Speed and gameplay are the best on this game!
I always loved game over!!! Hell of a lot better then a victory! Game over yeah!!!!! =D
Yeah it sure looks dated but man, how I feel old: I used to think this game looked better than ridge racer on my ps1!
it did look better.
Honestly, you’re not wrong. I think in general, Saturn games look better than most PS1 games.
Huh... I remember seeing this already for at least once.
Nevertheless a great review for a classic.
Reminds me that I still need to get a Saturn, always wanted one over the N64 but oh well...
I miss CGR so much!.. I love to come back to some old reviews from time to time. Years ago when I was starting to collect some of the old consoles, every time I ordered something new - I spent all the time waitng for delivery on watching CGR reviews of them
Got me so hyped for some of them. Dayummm is this nostalgic.
Game over yeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhh
Peace to all the Sega fanboys, fangirls, fancats, fandogs and even the sega fan alligators out there xxx
*HEY MARK ...*
*What do you say to your crazy ex-girlfriend*
*When you finally decide to kick her out the door ?*
GAME OVER YEAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH !!!
6:56 is kinda amusing because there seems not to be any polygons on the side, supporting the road. In that replay there's at least a stone wall underneath.
I seriously love the music in this game, and I have the Windows 95 version of the game in all it's big box release glory. SEGA released a lot of their early Saturn titles on PC as well with little difference beyond the control setups, so if you don't have a Saturn, it's a good way to get a # of those titles at a decent price, just beware you might run into some glitches, or speed issues trying to run the various games on new versions of Windows.
Did Tommy Tallarico do the soundtrack for this game? If I'm not mistaken, he did the music for Daytona USA.
+stucazzo2000 I guess I could just try and google the answer... :)
"Is a tree as much of a tree when I don't have a Sega Saturn?"
Pretty sure this was not a launch title, came out in 1996 I think
Why did Mark just delete and re-upload this review?
*the game is perfect! The magical control the music everything! One secret car Stratos man!* ⭐️ ❤️ ⭐️ ❤️ ⭐️
This is a reupload. The original can be viewed at Dailymotion. This is about half a minute shorter, many sections with music have been cut.
Best game ever! i wish they release this to PSN like they did with Daytona USA.
From time to time i get my saturn disk and put it on SSF emulator to play a little. Not perfect emulation but works well.
Isn´t Sega rally 2 called Vrally?
Classic game room needs to start heading to game shows like Pinfest the one in Allentown PA and York PA people there would love to see Mark
I've got the Netlink version of this (came with a Netlink version of Virtual On). But never noticed a big difference. It's been a while since I played it though. Sega Touring Car Championship was a little better. Nascar 98 and Daytona USA CCE were probably the best racing games for the Saturn. I have both of those too.
I have SEGA RALLY 2 for the Dreamcast which is cool, but what's even cooler is that it is the Japanese version that I own.
+Nana-Kyoto The Japanese version isn't always the cooler one, I mean I have a real copy of Musha Aleste, which is generally only worth like 65% of the genesis version M.U.S.H.A. (hence how I was able to afford it basically). For that reason I'll never quite feel as rad as people who have the North American version.
+gamerguy425 still u have m.u.s.h.a. I only have Robo Aleste for pal and every time i play it i wish i had musha
Mrvitosound that's funny because I don't even like it much and wish I had Robo Aleste instead since I have absolutely nothing good for my sega cd...... and
muuuuuust resist....... asking to traaaade....wooorth moooorree....
nah seriously though, if you browse ebay enough you can probably find a deal on it sooner or later. I've seen it once in a store for like $55 bucks I think, although you don't have that luxury I assume since it wasn't released in PAL...
Turrican4D I've never heard of that game at any point costing thousands, at absolute most it's about $500 on ebay today, for the genesis version. Japanese version is like $250 tops, but it was only like $90 dollars average when I bought it (late 2012).
I love this game. Think the graphics look great.
Of all the different console versions of Sega Rally released, the Saturn version is my most favourite.
+ldisc66 Well then... Have you heard about the PS2 version that was only released in Japan?
It's pretty much an arcade perfect port. :-)
I loved this game
I'm guessing RUclips took this old video down for... reasons, huh?
I had the 2nd on on the Dreamcast and it just lacked content it was fun but It didn't entertain me for long. The arcade ports thing just didn't sit well with me because of how short they were. I loved 18 wheeler but again that was short.
addictive soundtrack
"Yamaha Keyboard Hero" would make more sense, seeing as SEGA used Yamaha chips in their systems.
You could just put the game over part on the video and cut the vid short after that and it would still be a full review worthy of CGR imo.
Very nice game! Fun arcade racing action just the way I like it~
But it's just not quite as good as DAYTOOONAAAAA!!
***** Nope, I didn't... I had those games on my Windows 98
+Ruko Michiharu This looks extremely fun, is it as fun as it looks or not
William Burgoon It is fun, but it only has like, 3 courses, so don't expect to get a whole lot of gameplay out of it...
I got this game when it came out. I thought it was pretty great
1:32 What is the name of the song?
was there any shinobi games on the saturn?
+desepticonmatrix Yeah "Shin Shinobi Den" AKA "Shinobi Legions" for the USA and "Shinobi X" for Europe. The original japanese OST is J-Pop but the western release had amazing japanese tunes.
Is Mark using a different mic here? He sounds like he did his earlier days here.
Since when was SEGA Rally a Saturn launch title? Must have been thinking of Daytona.
A 90's racing game? The age where all racing games are like driving on ice.
GAME OVER YEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAA
Back when Sega were kings
Game Over Yeeeeaaaaah
slower, calmer voice from back then was so much better. now sounds more artificial
I wonder why Mark is reuploading some of these reviews? Did this one have copyrighted music in it like some of the others that he has put back up? I don't mind seeing a video again, just my curiosity.
+Shane Russell That just about sums it up, plus I think him reuploading them is good for people who don't want to go back and look thru all the years of videos he has done, or it gets people interested in his older videos so they do go back and look them up.
Nobody is giving respect to mark and this making me pissed off
Commodorefan64 True. Also there is HD as well which helps. The original videos were only playable at 480p max.
+Shane Russell yeah because even if he had shot the original videos in HD, RUclips did not allow anyone to upload HD video during the time the originals were released. Even James Rolfe has gone back with some of his AVGN videos, and reuploaded them in higher rez because of it.
correct me if im wrong but this wasnt a launch game...
Why are you reuploading old videos?
Least the cars still look like they have good car pysics. with the handling.
This video looks like it was re-uploaded.
@desepticonmatrix
Shinobi X I think came to Saturn?
Sega Rally Championships was the best racing game on Saturn as Daytona USA.
"Casio keyboard hero" heh hehe!
Will you ever review Mobil 1 Rally Championship for Ps1/PC?
+The Stickerbombinator - I actually rate this game on the PS1 , it has great , long point to point stages , and much more challenging than sega rally ... only problem is overtaking the opponents you catch up to , but thats just part of the game i guess
djbarcode I have it on PC - I have since I was a little kid. It's really the game that taught me how to drive fast with a keyboard, but it doesn't work now. For whatever reason, as soon as I install it and click on it to run it takes me back to the install screen.
Still, it was a fantastic game and I might have to have a dig around for an old XP machine to try it out with.
