Meh, passively fianchettoing both bishops and sacrificing pawns for long-term positional compensation is definitely not the way that chess was supposed to be played. Black takes all the credit for making this game as crazy as it was. White was just lucky he came up against a creative opponent, but is himself most certainly just another generic, boring player.

"Nobody will find the move..." Me: finds the move. Lolz. To be fair I figured it had to be check and there were only two checks. Bishop to deflect the king - but I saw nothing after that. Or pawn. If en passent then the rook can now see the king to give a check. It actually seemed like the easiest move to find. :P

Unfortunately Bundesliga isn't that wonderful any more. All year the same champion since 2013. Imagine having the same Super Bowl or NBA champion for 9 consecutive years ... Greetings from Germany.

I actually like the idea of an eval bar, it should be included more often when you're doing game recaps, just a suggestion

Most games between GMs dont have advantage swing back and forth as wildly as this, so it wouldn't be as entertaining

What really helps with the craziness is how Levy breaks down any tangents that could have happened. Each time this is done, crazy events become even more ludicrous and rare while the game shows off just how expansive the skill gaps can be.

It reminds me of one of those math problems in which depending on how you try to find a value through limits you get positive infinity, negative infinity... or zero. Really amazing game, thanks for the commentary.

Holy shit, that King on a1 looked like a Shogi kingwalk.
(For those who don't know, there's no castling move in Japanese Chess-and most pieces are good at attacking forwards, bad at attacking sidewards. So running your King to the opposite backrank can save a lost position into a draw.)
