Totally with you on this. I've made some VERY atrocious moves in my time, but none that forced my opponent to checkmate me! I'm reminded of the Bugs Bunny/Daffy Duck/Elmer Fudd cartoon where, Bugs tricks Daffy repeatedly into telling Elmer to, "Shoot me now!" It's like poor Cheeky just yelled "shoot me now!" and gave black no choice in the matter.
I remember a match where I played extremly poorly, my king got chased to a bunch of enemy pawns, no escape from there, and the Queen went to checkmate me with the protection of the king, so yeah, my only move was capture the Queen with my Queen so I checkmate him instead, never give up.
Right? Like I went into this video expecting at least a little bit of clickbait. I expected the move to be pretty bad, but I mean, not that bad. Instead, this looks more like what I would produce if someone gave me a chessboard and asked me to "set up the pieces to demonstrate the theoretical worst chess move you can possibly imagine." (Only one piece that can check the king, only two squares it can move to check the king, one square is mate in one for you, the other forces the opponent to mate in one you as their only move). The other thing I imagined with the clickbait title is that maybe the move would be that bad, but...you know, the players would be rated 600 or something, and they would be blundering pieces and forks the entire game. But no, it was a real game not a setup, and the players were rated 1350 and had very few outright "left a piece hanging" or "got themselves forked" kinds of blunders up until that point. I'm a King's Gambit player, and the best games break all chess principles by like move 6. I had a game once in the Fischer defense where pawns were scattered haphazardly all over the board, both sides lost castling privileges, and black's king eventually got mated on the second rank with tonnes of pieces still left on the board. Both sides played with like 85%+ accuracy too.

A situation in a game made me think of a great content idea for your 'How to lose at chess' series. 'Worst move in the position'. You could take a position submitted by a user and try and find the worst moves, or maybe even 'worst pawn move in the position'. My actual idea was to have the analysis board have an 'worst move'. Sounds silly, but it could be instructional!
Here, let me give you a hand so you can get a head start. Starting position: Worst move: 1. f3 Worst pawn move: Also 1. f3. I now pass the torch to the next commenter.

Haha, I can imagine the opponent being like, "Oh I have only this one move.. Wait what happened? Did he resign? Wait, that was checkmate??? THAT WAS CHECKMATE!!!!!!!!!!!"
I doubt it, having the queen next to the king is one of the most obvious checkmate patterns, a 1300 player would surely have recognised it before playing it

I have never seen someone force your opponent to mate you. This was brilliant.
Biggest Internal moan when I saw that crypto in the background
It's not just giving forced mate to the opponent in one, but marching the opponent's king to the position that allows such a forced mate.

hoes mad
impressive honestly to force you opponent to checkmate you
7:15 I don't understand this line. Yes, the black knight on c6 is hanging, but if rook takes the pawn then white's knight on d2 is also hanging!
That exactly is the reason why you are moving the knight from d2 to c4 FIRST. And AFTER THAT you could pick up the knight on c6.

Man, Levy, get this crypto shit outta here. In contention for the worst invention in human history.

Anti-crypto people are all parrots. This is such a ludicrously hyperbolic claim, I dare you to back it up with any reasonable point.
It is like: i am going to mate! But i want to be mated!
One week ago I saw a video where you said that the move made was "the worst chess move you've ever saw", and I begin thinking what would actually be the worst chess move, I thought that it would be a move that changes the game from "mate in one" on your side to "mate in one" on the other side but I thought it was impossible
Nah the worst move is not playing en passant
Takes the term "forced checkmate" to a whole new levek
“You need to think, in your brain, or whatever you use to think with”

I once very confidently set a check with my queen as it was protected by two rooks, yet rooks don't protect diagonally.
I don’t wanna hear about fake currency, sorry Levy for skipping the ad
You do know that crypto gives real money right? Ever used it before grandpa?
I hate that shocking realisation when you make a move that you think checkmates your opponent but you don’t get the checkmate pop up and you only now realise that you just blundered your queen.
That was honestly Elating

I love these videos! Levy your workrate is amazing! Could you please do a video on the King's Gambit? Thanks!
I think he did Vienna Gambit. Check it out, basically just King's Gambit with knight on c3.
@@nahrafe there is a huge difference between king’s gambit and vienna. One of them is wild territory, while the other is safer to play.
@@nahrafe Yes what mod mod said. The King's Gambit is insane aggression, while the Vienna gambit is a little more conservative
Kings gambit is pretty dangerous ngl
I'm a King's Gambit player, and the best games break all chess principles by like move 6. I had a game once in the Fischer defense where pawns were scattered haphazardly all over the board, both sides lost castling privileges, and black's king eventually got mated on the second rank with tonnes of pieces still left on the board. Both sides played with like 85%+ accuracy too.
I love how cheeky’s profile picture is Roy hogson

Cheeky is a very brave man for submitting this game
this is one of the first times ive actually busted out laughing at a chess move that was incredible
!? - inaccuracy
? - mistake
?? - blunder
??? - the move played
just don't push nfts on us please
What's this, Levy became an MLM mom?
A situation in a game made me think of a great content idea for your 'How to lose at chess' series. 'Worst move in the position'. You could take a position submitted by a user and try and find the worst moves, or maybe even 'worst pawn move in the position'. My actual idea was to have the analysis board have an 'worst move'. Sounds silly, but it could be instructional!
I mean in most cases, worst pawn move would just be removing a defense or blundering a pawn.
Here, let me give you a hand so you can get a head start.
Starting position:
Worst move: 1. f3
Worst pawn move: Also 1. f3.
I now pass the torch to the next commenter.
@@angelmendez-rivera351 Sure, but I meant in an active position, out of the opening.

I can’t think of a worse possible move than giving up mate in one and leaving your opponent with no choice but to win the game
Oh god, I saw this game on the clips channel. I realized about 15 minutes in what the horrible move was going to be. That poor unfortunate soul.
I can just imagine gotham in a classroom yelling "AND HE SACRIFICES THE QUEEEEEEEENNN"
As a 1350 myself, I can tell you that one of the biggest blind spots for my rating range is long distance control of squares
"Think. With your brain. Or whatever you think with."
*Perfection*
I have never commented on a chess video, and was very skeptical of the title, but this was the most hilarious blunder I have ever seen. I wonder if BLACK saw the chance at the checkmate as he was pushing his king forward but figured it would never happen.
YOOOOO
I'm just curious, did you like this with your 5 alts? hehe
i suddenly feel stop playing chess and go to meditate on himalayas.
Haha, I can imagine the opponent being like, "Oh I have only this one move.. Wait what happened? Did he resign? Wait, that was checkmate??? THAT WAS CHECKMATE!!!!!!!!!!!"
I doubt it, having the queen next to the king is one of the most obvious checkmate patterns, a 1300 player would surely have recognised it before playing it
Eval bar touches both sides of infinity
This is a once in a generation level bad move. It’s actually impressive
Man the opponent didn't even have a choice
Hey levy, I got no one else to share this with, so just as well might share it with you and your beautiful audience.
I started playing chess casually around last september inspired by your videos! Safe to say I sucked and was quickly put in my place at around 230ish online rapid rating.
Then I found your london and caro videos. This was the boost I needed, and I started to absolutely crush my opposition. I immediately climbed my way up the rating ladder sporting a constant positive win rate.
Que to now, sitting at 700 online rapid rating sporting a 53% win rate with a 64,1 accuracy. It's by no means impressive or anything, but just wanted to tell you that your content found my long lost love for chess and helped me improve.
