Great video. We’ve used summon almost everyday to back out of our garage. It was a little buggy in the beginning, but now does it flawlessly. Advanced summon will be the same, but with the new computer and neural net, learning will be much faster.
Can you do a video where you park on the back side of a hotel and then drop the pin under the front overhang at the front doors? I want to see if it will go all the way around and then park under the shelter.
As far as I can tell from watching the planned path on the smart phone, it seems like it's calculating that path too often and then takes a wonky path, because each calculation will have a slightly different result. So while moving, it might suddenly do something that contradicts an earlier move. But this is a really neat feature, once it's a bit more sophisticated.
Great points; I hope when this gets pushed out to the fleet the path prediction is a bit more fine tuned. It would be awesome if the user could edit the path to allow the best result and have the NN learn from these edits just like "edits" when driving on AP
@@milocarter1082 It will be possible. Also, you can drive your car to work. Then the car needs maintenance. It drives itself to the tesla garage, gets maintenance drives itself back to your parking lot at work.. etc. If you think this will not be real. Then im sorry.
Even though it clearly needs a lot of work, it gets out of that parking spot better than 68.89333% of human drivers. Every time I'm in a parking lot, I see someone backing straight out without turning their wheel, turning it slightly and going forward a couple inches, turning it again and backing up a few inches, rinse and repeat 2-15 more times, and then finally leaving. Autopark is the same. It's way too slow for my liking, but I see human drivers take longer all the freaking time and make infinitely more corrections...and still end up parked crooked as hell and with one or more wheels over the lines. Can't wait to see how this stuff improves over time because the majority of human drivers aren't likely to ever improve! :)

Until this gets fine tuned, I would suggest standing so that the Tesla has to make a left to get to you. That way it will be in the correct lane when it stops.
@@ALLElectricChannel could you place the pin so that it wasn't told to go right to you? Like if its going to cross onto the other directions side it might be best to just pin to the proper side that it should be on. Maybe thats what you guys are getting at already though
Cool, future full self driving will no longer require staying on the right side of the road, or parking straight. Just drive anywhere and park however you like, or however the car likes! LOL
Okay. Common sense would dictate that you don’t summon the car to a point that is directly across traffic. It wants to come straight to you. If you had been standing across the drive where a driver would’ve picked up a passenger, you would have not seen the anomaly. You could’ve also summoned it to a point that required a left turn and it would’ve picked you up on the desired side of the drive. I don’t have enhanced summon yet, so maybe you could try these suggestions and report back.
@@ALLElectricChannel I feel like for this technology to be more than a party trick, the user is going to be able to have to draw their own route on the app. Or the programming needs to get much smarter. why would you accept the path when it looks like that? obviously its not going to end up in the correct position(it stopped exactly where the path said it would). I guess some correct user knowledge is required. the car should have reversed in the opposite direction and come to the final destination from the right and the correct direction of traffic, if the user was aware of this, could you then select an alternate path that would place the car in the correct position and orientation?
I’m hoping when it’s released to the public they will allow you to draw the route and the car will just confirm, but we will see. Just got a new update tonight video going up soon; no mention of enhanced summon though 😔
Smart Summons reads the lines on the ground relative to the goal location spot. So had there been actually lane separation line, it would not have crossed over to meet the owner. It would have stayed in its lane and stopped in view of the owner. You can't expect a ton of programming to understand a human practice of common courtesy. You need to stand in the parking lot for a minute and watch people. There are no rules they drive all over the place when there are no lines.
