The RUclips algorithm is funny. I've seen all of your gear reviews but this is the first hike that has came up. Look like a hike that I would love to do. Very graceful log crossing as I'm writing this ha ha. Thanks for taking us along. ✌
Smooth!! Thanks a bunch. Lots more hike videos on the channel, if you're interested.
What an unexpected and quite thrilling adventure it turned out. Thanks for sharing!
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks so much!
Change of plans and still an epic trip. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks, it did turn out to be pretty fun!
Great hike! Thanks for sharing! That river crossing was cool
Thanks! It was cool indeed. Downright cold, in fact. 😉
beautiful country
It really is! Thanks!
I saw this video on a lazy Saturday, cracked a tall IPA, pulled out my Bob map and followed along. Thanks Dan! Subconsciously you forgot that item for a reason??
Thanks so much! Having one now . . . 😉
What an adventure! Loved seeing that you went over some of the same route that I did last year. Elk Hill sure has a lot of wildlife action!
Really love that place! Thanks!! It's fun to see the same territory through another's perspective, eh?
Great opening to the season Dan!...I have yet to do my first longish hike this year as I'm getting old and lazy...I sure enjoyed watching you post hole through it though! lol
A mild winter and a wet spring makes for a whole lotta ticks...worst i'd seen em was crossing the great divide basin down in wyoming...my pard super dave got tick fever from them and he was mighty sick by the time we hit the winds...anyhow I very much enjoyed this video...see ya down trail...Oh and if you get tired of humping that Seek around let me know...woods
Thanks a ton Woods! Yeah, that was a lot of work, but a really fun trip just the same. I'll be using that pack again in a couple weeks when I try again for a packrafting trip (and try to remember my paddle)!!
Great video!
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks man!
For this fly fisherman, KBarL sure looks like a great place to spend a week. Already checked it out. Oh, your hike was great too😉. As always, thanks for some great Montana scenery!
The N fk and S fk of the Sun are both beautiful streams! I edited out the part where Adam talked about the "golden" trout at Bear lake, which he though were actually Yellowstone cutthroat that turned gold in the sunlight. It would be a slice of heaven for a week.
@@ShastaBubba Before I can sign up for a KBarL week, I gotta figure out what to do with my pup since I see no pets allowed. That is if I drove out, which I prefer. If I decide to fly, that question becomes a lot simpler.
@@DrJohn493 Tricky, for sure.
Dear Dan, Congratulations on completing such a challenging hike. Thanks for sharing your experience.
Thank you kindly!
Loved seeing the trip. Anxious to see some more pack rafting adventures with the new raft. Still on the fence between purchasing the Gnarwhal or Wolverine. What is your brimmed hat? Looks like it would breath easily on the sides.
It's the REI Sahara Guide Hat: www.avantlink.com/click.php?tt=cl&merchant_id=e295c418-295a-447c-b265-734e25f82503&website_id=345523ea-2f51-482a-8572-
I'm anxious to do packrafting too! Planning to try again in a couple weeks, if the predicted sunshine doesn't push the water level to flood stage. The videos I've seen at Alpaca Raft seem to indicate that the Gnarwhal is only really appropriate for big/tall folks, like 6'2" and up. I'm 6' even and the Wolverine feels perfect to me.
@@ShastaBubba I’m 58 and 6’2”, do you think that extra 2” would make the Wolverine uncomfortable for me? Im assuming your feet touch the front, how much are your feet bent or can you actually straighten out your legs?
Thanks for any info on this big purchase.

@@dansutherland1083 It is a huge purchase, so I get the anxiety about getting it right. The folks at Alpaca Raft were really good at answering my email questions about the right boat to pick. I think that 6'2" is right on the edge between boats. My feet touch the front, but they are against an inflatable foot rest, so there might be some adjustment there. Also, there's a back band that I have a couple inches away from the back of the boat, so a little leeway there too. Good luck!
Where is home, you said it was 3 hours away?
Actually, I said that I was three hours away from home when I realized my mistake. Kalispell area. Thanks!
