- You can't always get it
When you really want it
You can't always get it at all
Just because there's space
In your life it's a waste
To spend your time why don't you wait for the call
(Just gotta get used to it)
We all get it in the end
(Just gotta get used to it)
We go down and we come up again
(Just gotta get used to it)
You irritate me my friend
(This is no social crisis)
This is you having fun
(No crisis)
Getting burned by the sun
(This is true)
This is no social crisis
Just another tricky day for you
You can always get higher
Just because you aspire
You could expire even knowing.
Don't push the hands
Just hang on to the band
You can dance while your knowledge is growing
(It could happen anytime)
You can't expect to never cry
(Patience is priceless)
Not when you try to fly so high
(Just stay on that line)
Rock and roll will never die
(This is no social crisis)
[etc.]
Another tricky day
Another gently nagging pain
What the papers say
Just seems to bring down heavier rain
The world seems in a spiral
Life seems such a worthless title
But break out and start a fire y'all
It's all here on the vinyl
(No crisis)
[etc.]
[Repeat verse 1.]
(Just gotta get used to it)
Gotta get used to waiting
(Just gotta get used to it)
You know how the ice is
(Just gotta get used to it)
It's thin where you're skating
(This is no social crisis)
[etc.]
Just another tricky day for you fellah Видеоклипы
One of my favorites from The Who
I like a lot of their songs from the Kenny years. I don't think that he had much to do with it though. I think it was mostly Pete's influence. Maybe the producer.
I'm sitting in a Mexican restaurant, in Pueblo CO. Three enchiladas and 3 margaritas. This song came raging from my subconscious. From out of nowhere. Haven't heard this song in years. How come we never hear this on the radio? It's a wonderful song.
I hear ya! FM radio is lame now. "THIS IS TRUE"!!
Cool story...I'm picturing the imagery.
@@chucku.farley616 okay... you're skatin' on thin ice with that buddy 😅
@@bedrosnersesyan6975 ruclips.net/video/9d27fbBsz0w/видео.html
In Cleveland I did hear it on the radio but really only at night
The way Roger sings "It's thin where you're skating" always gives me chills.
My chills moment is them singing "just gotta get used to it" repeatedly.

Heard this in the grocery store (!) a few days ago. Forgot how great it is.
Wow 😲 where did you shop? LOL all I ever hear is that awful music of today 😭
Let's here it for John Bundrick on keys 🎹. John "Rabbit" Bundrick......✌
Hi miss seen these guy twice best band and the greatest band out of 117 concert I've been God bless
The right-most portrait of John with a blank face is so haunting in the context of his death.
Favorite song from an underrated album
Amen, brother!
Here we are 30 years later still loving The Who
Love ain’t for keeping
That's right!
Hate to break it to ya, but it's actually 40 years...
@@karencooke9977 u cant always get it, when u really want it! Great track from a great album from a GREAT band. Who oo.
You've lost a decade there. 40 years ago.
Incredible and underrated song.👍👍
This is true!
Daltry when he is on it is one of the best rock and roll singers of all time... no doubt about it
Spring 1981!
"Just another tricky day for you... fella!"
Some great "late career" Who. I like how the piano is pushing and adding accents through the whole song.
Indeed 👍
Love The Who, their music puts me in such a nice place
Best track on the LP, IMO.
our band covered this song. didn't realize the chord structures were that complex and unique until we started rehearsing it. wondered if that's what the title was referring to, but it was a blast to play though.
One of my mothers favorites.thanks.
Written by Pete Townshend. The Who's Comeback Album since the Death of Keith Moon (8/23/46 - 9/7/78) and the First for Kenney Jones. Great, Catchy Rhythm Song from the 1981 Album, Face Dances #WarnerBrosRecords The Best of The Who Faves and #1980s Playlist Faves. R.I.P. Moonie. #OldSchool
Sounds like a recovery based song lol I play it when I'm having a rough day :)
True. Every Album has that One Song that doesn't make the most played on radio playlist airwaves, etc. Another Tricky Day is on the playlist. Yinz gotta love the HQ. :)
How about the album cover paintings/renderings. Just another exceptional enjoyment. My childhood brain has savored these...
Just love this tune
I can play this everyday and not get sick of it 😋✌️
@@Mis.Understood313 absolutely it just is perfect. I dig eminence front as well. Hope you are doing well😊
@@Bareis777 I'm making it! But you know, I've been doing that forever.... Would like to relax now but can't just yet. The SS administration wants me to wait until I'm too old to get out and use the money I have paid into all these years. 🫣👀 But I hope you are doing well 😊
Maybe the greatest rock song ever made. Lyrically and musically.
I agree 💯
Oh come on, that's ridiculous.
I saw them at their "final Performance" twice! Great concerts!
Toronto. I was there the first night. Maple Leaf Gardens, pretty good seats. Blown away!
It's thin where we're skating
Ya got no crisis, this is true, this is no social crisis...just another tricky day for you, why is this song sooo bad-ass? easily a top 10 Who song
They got great airplay on this one too.
9 people haven't got used to it...
y'just gotta-get-USED-TO-IT!
Definitely. ✌️
We go down and we come up again!
This is true!

"The Ox"
Great stuff, thanks for posting it.👍👍
"This is no social crisis" as we enter into the first stage of the corona virus in the U.S.
I think this and Baba O'Reilly are my fave Who songs.
"you irritate me, my friend."
Love that line!
This is no social crises, just you having fun. Could not have said it better.
This is no crisis, it's just me having fun...!
🎵🎶🎵🎶
And why is this song not played? I'm a big Who fan and this one somehow dropped off the radar.
Real folks won't let it slip by 😁
Too close to Truth... nobody wants to hear it today or they're too young to have ever heard it.
Sad. Keeps my feet on the ground & my head straight in these environs.
It was played alot, in 1982, if memory serves...
@@Mis.Understood313 True. I knew of it the first week or so after the vinyl was released. 🙂
MTV when it was new(1982) played this on regular rotation along with Don't Let Go the Coat and You Better You Bet..I've been a fan of this song ever since.
You irritate me my friend
Love the Who
Did they re-master this whole album and bump up the piano or synth track wherever possible? On a lot of these Face Dances tracks I'm hearing a lot more keyboards than I remember from the original vinyl release (going by decades-old memory).
Cam M it sure sounds like it was re-mastered 😊
It’s definitely been remastered. You hear everything more clearly but that does not necessarily mean it’s better. It’s funny how the individuals are great musicians without question, but sometimes less is more. I’m glad to have both versions however so you can compare them and hear the parts
You might be remembering the video version of this song, which was sped up and emphasized the guitars more. ruclips.net/video/OhuLhcbY_08/видео.html
@@widewailcorduroy7278 You might be right. Thanks for posting. Enjoyed it.
I always try to pick the video either less views in case someone is trying to earn money with their channel and I can help. No govt needed to share the wealth if we all exercise some shared love ❤
Please don't shoot me Hit Girl 313! Oh wait, you're just an avatar near the video title. Whew, that was a close one.
You had me lmao here 😂 thanks for stopping by 😌
Many Who fans have no idea that the original title of this song on Pete's demo was "Here's a little sticky tape" and they changed the name during the recording. The more you know!
I'm not sure how I missed your comment but that is a great fact! I definitely prefer "another tricky day" 😀 thanks for the cool info!
@@Mis.Understood313 Full disclosure, I made that up, a fact of total fiction, a bold face lie, a fib. But I'm glad it seemed believable enough to invest in.
@@robertkees6048 you're such a bullshitter! 🤣 I fucking love the cold, hard honesty!!
@@Mis.Understood313 Yeah you have to really sell it, no humor, people go wait what now? A classic. Some idiot's telling the story at a party as we speak, says he knew Pete, says he was there when they changed the title. Yup true story.
@@robertkees6048 that's why I never attend parties 🎉 my crowd didn't talk about that kind of stuff 😂
This is correct!!!!!!....
Who are the 4 creeps that don't like this record????????
Who else in their adolescence heard "dance while your nine inches growing"? Oh those golden teenage years...
dare i say who said it will be anther tricky day another social crisis today ... hand of time
as i hear this i realize it sounds like "smugglers blues" by Glen Fry.. think he lifted this
I can hear why you say that.
I’ve listen to this remastered version twice now back to back with the version that came out originally and while it’s nice to hear the piano part and most of the parts are more clear, it’s not as good as the original.
The base runs at the end of the phrases or one of the highlights of the song and they get drowned out by the new stronger backing vocals. The aforementioned piano part actually becomes distracting in many parts of the song and it’s just something to fill in on the background it should not be a prominent musical part.
Still nice to hear the individual musicians highlighted.
Nothing has been better than vinyl
This was actually a remastered version
Who sped this up? Too funny!
'Just gotta get used to it'
Still ain't used to it 😂
@@Mis.Understood313 "It's thin where you're skating"
Love Pete & Roger, so relatable and so great to listen to....have a great day!!
The Who basically invented punk rock.

This is a good version as well with Roger singing Adele again 😅
Someone else sings this??
Righteous! what a great song in the United Democratic States of America in which we live today!~ "wokeness" sucks.

1:40 It took about 20 years, but I'd say rock n' roll is officially dead.
this has a real dave mathews flavor to it.
Dave Mtthews??? and The Who? LMAO!!!
nothing dave mathews did compares to this
You have ruined The Who for me, enry iggins
