She saved my life. When I was being abused by my ex he had spit my chin open. The cops were actually trying to convince me to just let it go so cps didn't get involved and she forced the cops to take him in after she told me her story in my bathroom cleaning up the blood from my face. She was the one who gave me the courage to leave after she told me what she told me. I'm so glad you chose to tell her story. I'll never forget this angel in NYC. I was in shock when I heard what happened. It brought me to my knees. She was the reason I left everything I knew and started over, scared and alone with my baby in a domestic violence shelter in another state. May she RIP until we meet again.

That is absolutely wonderful that Yadi did that for you. Her care made it easier for you to make the decision that you needed to! She could have just cleaned up your face in silence. But she didn't she instilled in you the courage that all of us women need to let go and move forward past abusive empty relationships. Big up to Yadi and to you too❤❤❤

@feliciapennyamon2833 💕😭man, I can still hear her words. Do you want to live. Let's go! Don't be scared. I'm right here beside you. He can't hurt you anymore. Get up! Walk me right out the bathroom and told the cop there was blood present he needs to be in cuffs. And they told him to stand up and give me my daughter and cuffed him right then and there. She took me to Our Lady of Mercy, and I got my face stitched up.

I think about this family and her children often. I lost my uncle, an FDNY paramedic for many years because of what he was breathing in at ground zero. I remember seeing things about this on the news, being pulled into the living room to watch the march, seeing her face cover the borough. Yet I was too young to really understand the situation, when I saw her face on the thumbnail I immediately knew it, she made an impact all over the borough and her smile is remembered. I never met her, and I didn’t often go to her neighborhood, but I remember, and others do too. Thank you so much for giving a life to the faces I saw all over my neighborhood and my city that I never knew the story of.

Why does every word start with a capital letter? Are you a writer or journalist for a newspaper, or is it just the longest title ever?? I'm just curious, n it'd bother me terribly if I didn't ask. 🙃

@ladydi2625 see. Now im even more curious now that you've used all caps. I'm just being silly.
Text doesn't convey tone. I was playfully asking you questions I genuinely still want you to answer. I have a naturally curious mind, n I'm coming from the most respectful place. I'm not trying to be rude or mean or call you out.
It could also be a default setting on your phone or a typo. Maybe you hate punctuation n grammer. I still won't know unless ya tell me. Tada ♡

She’s what you call a strong loving mother and her kids learned how compassion works in this world some people give their kids clothes jewelry and things that don’t really matter she gave them love but most of all herself and taught them that no matter what god prevailed and always will much love to her and I’m sorry for their loss and i thank god for giving us another angel she’s in heaven with my son

Why would anyone criticize Yadi for anything? That’s such a shocking situation that evolves so fast, no one knows what they would have done in that situation. I love how her colleagues and the city supported the family. She seems like such a beautiful soul💕❣️

I'm from the Soundview section of the Bronx. I want to say R.I.P to Yadi. I remember this sad day vividly. Such a horrible loss to such a great woman that was lovingly giving to her neighborhood. You did an outstanding job at showing the whole story.

Wow, this woman was L♡VED! The way her family and community has honored her memory even after years go by never to miss any court dates, memorials, and to have mural paintings, renaming streets and opening parks, serving the less fortunate in her name every year, she must have been one truly amazing woman. The way her brother followed in her footsteps and became an EMT, boy I bet she's in heaven smiling down so proud! She touched so many pple, even pple who never knew her like myself. She risked her life everyday to save other people's lives. She gave the ultimate sacrifice trying to save her partner, she was in every sense of the word a true hero! Thank you for your service Yadira Arroyo, fly high angel! 🕊

I was sobbing by the end of her son’s speech. I can’t imagine what he and his family have gone through. As if it’s not hard enough losing a loved one, there’s also footage of it online for people to cruelly comment on.
Thank you for telling her story so beautifully. I think I would have liked her the second I met her. She sounds so much like my own mom. What a terrible loss. I hope Yadira’s loved ones are doing as well as possible. They (and you) have truly honored her memory here 💛
