Checking the Hay and Calibrating the Gandy Box!

In this video I check to see how well the hay is drying, so I know when I should plan to start raking the following day. Then I head over to dads to add an auxiliary fuse block to power all the extra things we have been adding, the round bale monitor, moisture meter, and the gandy box. We also calibrate the gandy box and come up with a chart for how many oz/min it is putting out at different settings. I determined that the rate increases by a power equation and was able to estimate for each setting using the equation. I include a picture of this chart.

Your brave having that many acres on the ground at once. First time baling on my own this year and I'm afraid to have 5 acres on the ground at once lol also whats the gandy box for?
The gandy box is a dry preservative applicator for silo king preservative.
Also we wouldn’t normally have put that much on the ground but we have had a huge weather window to get it dry. So far we haven’t had to race the weather which has been really nice. But starting out it’s wise to take it slow til you get in the groove and have the kinks worked out
Finally got all my first cut done. I only have about 39 acres to mow. Not as good as last year bale per acre. How boutique you?
Compared to last year about the same. Maybe slightly more yield on the acres that are producing. I have some low spots in some of my fields where the orchard grass has died out due to being too wet so they didn’t produce very well. Hitting it with nitrogen early helps here.
@@thebalerman used nitrogen in April. Just fertilized again this week. Had a cool snap early May. I think held it back a little
A little bit of light would have been nice.
