Hi Johannes! The reason we made this a hybrid instead of a fully waterproof pant is for ventilation! Even a breathable membrane like eVent, is nowhere near as breathable as having no membrane at all. So we put the membrane in the places you need it for water crossings, wind protection, and light rain (ie thighs/seat) and used an Oxford weave - more of a work pant style fabric - everywhere else!

Thanks a lot for the clarification Pete, that makes perfect sense. Breathability is important, and if it really starts to rain I’d throw a pair of rain pants over anyways.

Similar issues here with big thighs and always struggled. For enduro I’ve recently moved to Fly Racing and I love them. The Race Lite and DST versions have a great level of flex, acommodate knee braces and have a brilliant ratchet system to get them right round the waist. Check them out when you end up looking to swap out your Dakar’s or get a dedicated pant for your 350 enduro rides

As always I've forgot a thing or two:
    Price: Expensive 😆
    Armor: Not included, use separate
Philosophy of use: All kinds of adventure riding that will include offroad riding (every time then..)
Not waterproof enough on its own, will need to carry a rain pant, which I don't like but it is what it is, right?

No pockets for armor, which I like. A hanging liner on the inside is just more material.
Which external knee protectors do you use now? I remember asking you a few years back and you used Acerbis ones. I bought them but they slipped terribly, so I bought Leatt Dual Axis and they are fantastic! Doesn't slip, super easy to put on, no need to adjust every time etc. Highly recommended if you don't want to sell a kidney and buy braces.

FYI to others. I tried those Mosko Moto pants twice. First time the package had the right size labeled, but the pants inside were a size smaller. I called to return, but in just a week they were out of stock in the size I was supposed to get. A year later I tried again, because I too follow John T. young. This time they sent the correct size, but the new, current year pants are now running at least one size smaller. I just returned and gave up. You have me considering again, but just need to order 1 to 2 sizes bigger than a Klim riding pant.

To answer your question, from Mosko website:
"The thighs and butt are fully waterproof with a 3-Layer Schoeller softshell, while the crotch and calves are membrane-free for maximum breathability"
Also, to dry your boots overnight, nothing beats puting newspapers inside the boot. Trust me, it works like magic, the dry newspaper will soak up the humidity and your boots will be pretty dry in the morning. For better results what I do is put in the papers when I arrive in the evening and change them before going to bed.

I manage to separate the stitching in the crouch at my TET Norway trip last summer, even if they are strechy.. To be fair i jumped on and off the bike very "reckless", kicking over the luggage instead of climbing up on the loaded bike. I thoght that this could be a problem and that happened... Also they are Made in Europe and CE AA rated as well. Last summer i rode through a 20min little rainstorm and i wasn’t soacking wet but just a bit moist underneath. Shortly after the rain has stopped the pants were dry. 😊 i hope someday you will get the chance to try the pants from AS! You won’t regret it 😉

    • @JohannesDalenMC

      Thanks Adam!
The black panels are made of a fabric called Schoeller, and according to MM it’s very abrasion resistant. The tobacco colored part is a nylon fabric which we know is abrasion resistant. But, I can imagine these aren’t as abrasion resistant as your typical road pant, but still enough to use it for adventure riding. Having this much stretch there has to be a compromise.

Great review…. I was gonna ask about the armour, but I see you touched on that subject. I’m a similar size to you but I’m a bit older with a bigger waistline 😃, so I was wondering if these would be good for me, but I think I heard you mention leather inner knee grips so I’d probably avoid those, unless they’re faux leather of some sort. Otherwise they sound perfect. There are some similar looking Dianese pants, but sizing is always the problem…… so I understand your glee.
I’ve found recently that thigh pockets are the best for comfort whilst riding, as it keeps weight lower, so better than a rucksack on your back, and putting anything large in your waist pockets or jacket pockets seems to restrict movement. Certainly the case for me.
Heat is an issue here, but we rarely get rain, so the perfect gear, which hopefully also looks “normal- ish” if you stop for a bite to eat somewhere, which also has some knee and hip protection, is the aim.
