Technically, he was trap in MK verse. His MK9 bio state he was summon aka kidnap by Shao Kahn after the end of GOW3. Kratos return back to GOW verse with the help of Raiden and Fujin open a portal sending him back. In his ending, it is state that the kindness show by Raiden and Fujin sort of calm Kratos a bit. Obviously it is basically not canon, but hey this is the only event we know official happen to Kratos in between GOW3 and GOW2018. Plus the fact that Raiden and Fujin's good act can calm Kratos can be a good explanation how Kratos try his best to control his rage now. Now how Kratos end up in Norse area that is mystery.

I think Christopher Judge really tied the entire package together. You get lost in the astounding graphics, and the depth of the story and you are anchored to it because Kratos sounds like he looks. I forgot about Teal'c after about 5 minutes. To me, that is impressive as I cannot think about CJ without thinking of Teal'c. Now he's simply Kratos. (What a great freakin' game, btw.)

I really enjoy the Maturation of the game and characters and love this new fresh take on Kratos. I’ve also changed and grown a lot since I first played God of War 1 back in 2005 right after Highschool so it’s great the direction they went. I also enjoy the Norse mythology a little more than the other mythologies And Atreus will take on the mantle eventually I think and we’ll play as him only eventually

"I would like to play this game with little Falcons and avoid any awkward conversations" -The game has you dismember various enemies in unique ways such as ripping out their intestines, ripping off appendages, decapitation, gouging out eyes, etc. -Every gorgon you encounter has her bare chest exposed and so do most of the female goddesses. -Each game had a mini game you could play where you fucked a girl and received a shit ton of XP after the "climax" Pretty sure God of War is the LAST game you want to play if you're trying to avoid awkward conversations with your children. Those trophy names were pretty mild compared to the rest of the content in the games.

In one of the older GOW games, when Zeus ends up “killing” Kratos with the Olympus Sword, Zeus also says to Kratos: “The cycle ends here.” I don’t know if that was on purpose or accidental coincidence, but either way, pretty cool.
Regarding number 9 and the three wise men story-line: Near the end of God of War 2 there's this picture you can investigate with Kratos and the caption reads "three travelers under a star" or something. At first I thought wow is God of War going to divert to a judeo-christian story-line or something cause that could be pretty controversial. Ultimately God of War 3 was all about Greek mythology as usual but I always wondered what the deal was with that tease. So thanks Gameranx you've cleared up a decade old mystery for me!

If you look at the description of the Guardian Shield in the menu, it says it was gifted to him by Faye on the anniversary of when they first met.
