Great January 20, 1984 commercials!
Got any Commercials from WAVY TV Ch.10 local NBC Affliated in Portsmouth Virginia
The Day The Finale Of Go! Aired On NBC
"When you need it bad come to Florida." I remember those commercials. Hurricane Irma happened to be in Florida when they were uploaded!
That music from the Independent News Network! I have forgotten about it for *years*... until this upload came onto RUclips.
The INN was used for many cable stations outside of the Chicago area so that a better focus on national/world news was presented compared to the local WGN coverage that wouldn't be as relevant as someone from say Alabama. After the service folded by the early '90s, many switched to CNN Headline News, but some reverted to the WGN newscasts.
Who listens to Opera on 8-track tapes? 😆
Remember the days of when NCAA Basketball used to be on WGN-TV? 🏀
Of those channels in the TV Guide ad, only these survived: HBO, Showtime, USA, Nickelodeon, CNN, ESPN, BET and to a lesser extent, MTV.
Ah, the good ol' days of passing off bad motel art as "Starving Artist" classics. 😆
USA used to be a far better network in the 80s and 90s too. Also, CBN still exists as Freeform, after a few Family Channel incarnations.
So they did an ad for a Florida Vacation for those who are dealing with winter. In 1984 the peak of Grizelda Blanca's murder spree. An they even brought poor Arlene Sorkin in on this sad display of misinformation. I hope that people avoided Miami atleast.
You think that's scary, what about the planned use of nuclear weapons to build a highway & rail corridor through a mountain range in California? ☢️
I never got why Gusto Records thought it was a good idea to have most of the artists on "Country Stars On LP" come into their studios and re-record their hits "for better sound quality"? Couldn't they have found a way to just properly license the original versions of these songs from the other record labels/companies???
Well, it costs a lot of money to release archived recordings, so asking the artists for all-new recordings is more frugal. I'd still prefer those over edited K-Tel versions since at least you can tell how the singers have evolved since they recorded them, and you can always listen to the original.
That's actually a very interesting way of looking at it (now that you mentioned it)........
"15 Beers Ago". Country Music in a nutshell. 🥜
Oh, by the way it is Minute Rice not Minute Maid Rice to correct the name of the product shown in the January 20, 1984 commercials upload.
I have corrections to make for you, #17 and #29 and #38 Is the WGN Presents Bumper which is the same as #3, and the WGN-TV9 "Chicago's Very Own" ID is #30, and all the others go all the way to #58. Thank you for letting me correct the numbers in your upload, and recorrect those numbers soon.
You must be an absolute blast at parties. 🙄
Luciano Pavarotti! His voice has sold millions! He was even on the cover of TIME! He even did a cool movie that few saw and even fewer liked!!! What a legacy!!! (Haha!) Now you can own this awesome album of this bodacious behemoth who belted La Boheme with Bohemian ease!!! So you can crank up the volume and piss off the metalheads next door with O Sole Mio blasting from your boom box!!! Because the whole world KNOWS...or should...LUCIANO OUT ROCKS METALLICA AND ALL THOSE OTHER ROCKER WANNABES COMBINED!!! HAH!!!
24:16 Thanks for the coronary...😱
