My father served 24 years as a Green Beret. He was in WWII, Korea, and Vietnam. My father crossed the bridge before 3 am. yesterday morning. At the expense of his family, my father fought for our freedom. He would gladly fight again today. He was 4 months short of 95 years old. Please salute him as he is transitioning ❤
He has died for those oppressed? Not for America? We are fighting for the most corrupt countries and not for America. Anybody serving is complicit in this.
I'm very happy to finally see such chic and graceful dresses again that go down to the knee, without unnecessary teasing and provocation, and are simply aimed at aesthetic and endearing feminine grace.
I was one of those tested, in my group I was fourth out of one hundred. This song means alot not just to me but to those who earned the right to wear the beret, and to the families of the men who will never be coming back. This song is not something you compare to other songs, this is a ballad of tribute from one man to another. Treat it with respect.
Admire U for your patriotic comment considering U were #1 or highest of the rejected. Thank you for your service - I think the Greens goofed in not taking 4 out of that hundred
@@karriemorse973 Just an FYI, Special Forces (nickname is Green Beret and/or snake eaters) is Army, not Marines. Since Varg talks about his Group, he's in the Army. Unlike Delta/CAG, SF is open only to Army personnel.

Well done! As a Navy Veteran I salute your rendition of this great song. As a country we should never forget the sacrifice of those who fought, and died for our freedom.🇺🇸
I've yet to see any Vietcong throw grenades into any American homes, and what exactly is your freedom from? How was Vietnam any threat to the USA? Did Vietnam invade the USA?
One of the best songs ever written. These ladies are awesome. It still upsets me to remember how the men and women were treated, when they came back from Vietnam. Would like to give them all a medal and hug.
I cried. When my family lost my oldest brother Dwight in the Vietnam conflict (1968) my family went completely anti-military and anti-America. My older brother threatened to cripple me if I joined the military. Unfortunately, three branches of the service wouldn’t take me because of medical reasons. Recently while visiting with an old friend who served we went to the target range together, along with a former special forces Captain. After a day of target, shooting, talking, sharing stories, the good Captain gave me one of his challenge coins. He explained that he only gives them to members of his military family. I then said to him “Captain, I’m not worthy of this. I’m not in military” he insisted that I take it telling me in his own words “You have the heart of a soldier!“ for a civilian to receive such a gift is truly a high honor.
I have heard Barry Sadler sing this song many times, and I have felt emotion in my heart. But I have never teared up like I did when I heard these two ladies for the first time. Simply superb. Thank you ladies from an Australian Vietnam Veteran.
I see some bad comments on this. Here's my thoughts. I don't care who sings it or how, or if tune or rhythm is off. This song deserves respect no matter what. It makes me cry every time I hear it. Good job ladies.
Doneright Mark , my friend I come from new Zealand, we also had mentioned who served there and u right it is only a song but to many it has great significance it doesn't matter how its sung. Good on u buddy.
I grew up learning to respect those who fought for our freedom and others freedom. I come from a military background going back to the civil war. I lost my great uncle to the Vietnam war, he was a green beret. He sacrificed his life so someone else didn't have to. Every time I listen to this song I think of him and all the other hero's that aren't here today.
Your incredible. You have done the Green Beret proud . God Bless and all who will fight, who will win,who will come home and those to our Heavenly Father. We salute you Thank you both!!

Beautiful job ladies. I am 83 years old and served two tours in Sunny Vietnam. One with the 4th Inf Div and one with the Americal Div. I earned a purple heart on each tour and was medivaced both times. It's not about me but this is all about you two ladies and the beautiful job you did. At first, when I saw you two standing there it reminds me of those old time songs singing about WWII, but that soon vanished. I am Airborne qualified and served in 11th Airborne Div and 82nd but not in combat. This info is for any buddies I might have served with. NOW, back to the stars of this video. I have heard several well meaning folks that have tried to sing this song, but you two are right up there at the top. Bless you both and remember GOD is watching you. Again thank you both,.........Ken the really old guy in Marina CA.
Just found this fantastic rendition of one of my favorite songs of all time. The words to this song are so ingrained in my mind that I sing it to myself over & over again. These two ladies do a fantastic job in their rendition of this heartfelt & meaning full song. No matter who & how they sing this song from beautiful little Caylee Nicole's fantastic rendition to Dolly Parton & the Sarge himself, one can't help but shed a tear or two.
2 very classy ladies doing an outstanding performance. I found this yesterday and I bet I've watched it 50 times so far. I also shared it with my brother, a retired green beret.
These ladies done a beautiful job with this song, regardless of who sings it, it always brings tears to my eyes. God bless those who served and are serving.
Oh yeah. Thank you so much for the nice compliment for Letters from Home singers. This means so much to them. Look out for them, they perform all over the world.
These two ladies are the sweetest most patriotic duo. They spend their days traveling, hugging and thanking service members, families and veterans. From the onset, the performance they did for us here, began with a complete attribution to the song's author. There was no teleprompter they followed, I know because we filmed it and didn't have one for them. They sing and tap to bring smiles and honor to those who have served. I know because I myself served and think what they do is admirable. There are millions of people around the world who make a living performing the songs written by others, in different manners, styles and artistic ways. What was done here is in absolute honor and recognition of the song's creator and in no way meant to disrespect him nor any memory of his own performances. I do believe we should all stand back and simply enjoy this art for what it is, a tribute to the Green Beret and the families of the fallen. That is what Barry Sadler wrote about and sung about and the same goes for the ladies in this video. Thank you to the Sadler family for honoring their father and his art he gave to the world. Thank you to 'Letters from Home Singers,' for using their voices to honor service members and their families and for giving attribution first and foremost and respect in every performance they do.
OMG! I recall when this first came out, and watching the SGT sing it on the Ed Sullivan show. I'm a Canadian, but these young ladies did such a good job my eyes watered. I'll be sharing this, as well as getting a copy of it for my mp3 player. WELL DONE LADIES!!!!

Thank you for your remembrance and for your respect. We're getting old now but I remember my tours in Vietnam like they were yesterday. I completed almost four tours there. I wouldn't hesitate to do it again. The Vietnamese are good people who hold high values and love of their country. From the destruction of war, they have built a strong viable, and united country. I am very glad that we are now on the path to mutual cooperation and friendship.

I have watched this a dozen times and had tears a dozen times. Greatly done.
Such a great soulful ballad from SSgt. Barry Sadler !
I remember this from my childhood! Great rendition of one of my all-time favorite songs! So many friends and family throughout my life have served our country in the military! ... all different branches and details🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Pineland graduate from 1997 here to say that this is one of the best renditions that touches my heart every time that I hear it. Great job Ladies!! DOL!!
I'm usually a purist when it comes to iconic songs, meaning i usually prefer the origina;, but I have to say this is an awesome version!
Beautifully done!! Tears in my eyes everytime I hear this song. When I know what these brave men did for Our Country and the Oppressed. I always think of John Wayne and the film The Green Beret.
I totally agree with you
Beautiful.... Absolutly Beautiful !!!!!!
Great song unusual presentation by two beautiful patriots…The Duke would be proud….
@@kathynemec4288 sorry but John Wayne can't hold a candle matter of fact I don't even think he was a veteran he might have been but I was reconnaissance in the Marine Corps but he couldn't have told s*** all he was was an actor
I’ve always loved this ballad, in fact a few years ago I was a Training Instructor at a Sheriffs academy and a Green Beret was one of the cadets. Thank you for sharing such. Great video and great job by two beautiful women.
So beautifully done. God Bless all our Green Berets
Doneright Mark, I side with you. This is one of the most beautiful tributes to our armed forces men and women. It brings tears to my eyes every time I've ever heard it. This is the first version I've heard except for Barry's original release. We can never appreciate our men and women of our armed forces!
As soon as the singing started the tears flowed freely very good job.
I have loved this song from a very young age. You ladies did a phenomenal job on it.
