You can and should defend your country if it is your people's territory and it is truly under attack from those that intend to enslave you. But for those that attempt to enslave another sovereign people/state - expect resistance and outside interests to take part. Communism really has very little to do with the territorial fight for survival. It's just a political bias - not something to worship.
I first heard this song in January of 1966 when it was released by Barry Sadler. The song hit number 1 on the Billboard Top 100 chart in late February and stayed there for five weeks, going on to sell more than nine million records. I had high expectations for anyone who would dare to cover this song and the Special Forces did not disappoint. I think Sadler would be proud.
He - eey, me too Maryann A.?! Ye - es! Waht a coincidence?! Oh & ny the way( just as a touch of humor, yet I do mean it. ) To you maryann, I wish you Marry Christmas.
I truly appreciate the honest, homespun, Honorable approach to this Ballad. A-ATW. De Oppresso Liber. CPT R.A. "Rick" Briggs, Jr. 5th SFGA, Fort Bragg, NC 1979-1981.
Good cover, but a little over done. It's not simple like the original. This girl is a singer and showcases her voice. Barry Sadler was not a singer. He was a storyteller and he showcased the story. That made his entire album unique.
Over 50 years ago my dad used to play this record when I was a young kid. I went on to be a Green Berets at 10th group.. It does matter what we expose our children to. I’m concerned with the things that were exposing our children to today. Not sure how drag queen story time is going to help this nation be strong.
It makes me sick what our government is doing to destroy our country ! I salute you and God Bless you and keep you safe and healthy ! Just an ole Vietnam Combat Vet , Tom Please stay safe and always alert!
Her voice is amazing. The musicians really nail it. A great cover of the orginal. Proud to be an American. Sad at what is happening in our great Country .
My dad was also a Green Beret. Served in Korea and Vietnam. We lived at Ft Bragg during most of the 60s. Very proud of him. He passed away way too soon in 1989. He was only 59. Miss him terribly
I’m sorry for your dad’s passing. My husband was a Marine in 1972 to 79 he didn’t go to Vietnam, he unexpectedly passed away 2 years ago. Thank you both for your sacrifice and his service ❤️
Fort Bragg officially became Fort Liberty today. I have lived close to the base my whole life. I am so proud of all the soldiers the have come through there. Thank you.
I remember when Sgt Barry Sadler first released this song in the mid 1960’s. It moved me so much knowing all the brave soldiers who were caught in a war that should of never been but regardless they did what soldiers do and served their country. This is such a great cover of his song. Love it. Thank you all for this beautiful recording.
Written by Staff Sgt. Barry Sadler while convalescing from a foot/leg injury caused by a "punji stake" while on patrol in Vietnam. . I have his original record. Always dreamed I would be a Green Beret. Instead became a police officer. Proud of you for covering his song.

Dang dude . When the U.S. millitary went into Viet Nam it was only half Communist . By the time they left it was all Communist . But what the heck right ? What's sixty thousand dead Americans for nothing right? You seem to like to brag about yourself and your murdering comrades , do you ever think about the women and babies that you and you war machine left rotting in the jungle , or the women and babies rotting under the rubble of buildings in the Middle East ? And you didnt even get the oil you were after in Viet Nam.
I first heard this song prior to enlisting in the US Army. I signed up for jump school while in basic training and had a couple of Green Berets talk to us. I took their physical entry qualifier and was notified that I was going to be assigned to the 7th Special Forces training group at Ft Bragg. Finished first phase, but got into some trouble and was shipped to 82nd AA. Biggest disappointment of my life, not finishing SF training.

I was not Special Forces, but trained against them in Robin Sage at Ft. Bragg several times. They were right down the street from us. They have some rough schooling and testing. Nothing but respect, in spite of the fact we did everything we could to make them fail Robin Sage. From what I gather, they do it hungry and almost sleepless, while we stayed well fed and rested. Speaking from experience, that makes a huge difference.

I was in the army and my drill sergeant was a Marine who went over to the army side so he can continue to be a drill sergeant. He fought in the Vietnam war and was well decorated for his actions there. But I know that I received some good training even short it was. The army has some good units in it. Some men are trained well and some aren't. One of the reasons I respect the Marines is because they are all trained well.
One of my favorite songs an song about as best as I've ever heard! God Bless you an yours! I come from military family. My 2 uncle's survived Pearl Harbor attack. Their younger brother, my dad, joined navy on 8th Dec 41. He volunteered for UDT underwater demolition teams deploying off rubber rafts tied to PT boats! My brother was F-4 plane captain on Enterprise aircraft carrier along with my favorite Uncle.
I was a ranger in Vietnam. My son followed in my footsteps and became a ranger. My daughter enlisted as MP and served in Iraq. All three of us are 100% disabled from our service. I have Barry's cd and love all his songs.
A lot of our SF Troopers died in Vietnam. Then again there were an estimated 58,225 that were killed, another 304,000 that were wounded, and 2,413 that are considered Missing in Action. I don’t know for an absolute fact, but I’m fairly certain that every single one of them meant and still means a lot to them as well. My Uncle was an Army Captain (Huey Pilot) that was listed as MIA because they couldn’t recovery his remains. His status was finally changed to KIA. I lost 5 of my Brothers (Teammates, I was a 300F1 SF Medic). I’m sorry for your loss.

This is the universal military song. It doesn't matter which branch you are in - we as a nation owe you all a heart full of gratitude and respect. The fact that there are those among us who have joined and put their lives on the line for the freedoms of not only America, but those who still live under oppression and dictatorship. Thank you so very, very much for your service - I hope that one day we can all live in somewhat peace and never have to see another young man or woman go to defend what we take for granted, and never come home again. 😞💔🙏💖💖💖

My father was a Green Beret. Today is the 2 month anniversary of his death. Dad loved the original version of this song and I'm sure he would have loved this one, too. It brought tears to my eyes thinking of Dad, but he was so proud to have served our country and of his time as a Green Beret.
My uncle Alan was a green beret medic in Vietnam. He made it back home, only to leave us too soon. I would cry every time I heard this song, it’s a favorite for sure and well done. Thanks so much.

I had a lot of friends older brothers serving in different branches of the military in SE Asia and Vietnam in 68 to 70. Some came back in a Flag drapped coffin, a few wounded the rest fine. Most of the Dead were KIA around Que or Kasone (sp), i learned early that freedom isn't free, and at the time i was starting High School. May God the Father, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit guard our boys in Uniform, may he grant peace to all that died so we might be free.
I first heard Staff Sgt Barry Satler sing Battle of Green Berets in 1966. Joy riding in Billings, MT, with the radio blaring. My brother was serving at Fort Ord, in CA .
I agree!!
I truly appreciate the honest, homespun, Honorable approach to this Ballad. A-ATW. De Oppresso Liber. CPT R.A. "Rick" Briggs, Jr. 5th SFGA, Fort Bragg, NC 1979-1981.
He really would be proud of this army band
Good cover, but a little over done. It's not simple like the original. This girl is a singer and showcases her voice. Barry Sadler was not a singer. He was a storyteller and he showcased the story. That made his entire album unique.
This is beautifully

This is a great group

Over 50 years ago my dad used to play this record when I was a young kid. I went on to be a Green Berets at 10th group.. It does matter what we expose our children to. I’m concerned with the things that were exposing our children to today. Not sure how drag queen story time is going to help this nation be strong.
It makes me sick what our government is doing to destroy our country ! I salute you and God Bless you and keep you safe and healthy !

Love this song, makes me cry every time I hear it. Thank you all for your service.❤

This song brings back so many memories. This is by far the Best rendition of this song. I'm a Proud Marine, but this is one thing the Army aced.
Merci à votre famille.
I had a friend who was a Green Beret, sadly he died in Vietnam. I cry when I hear this great song 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇨🇦🇺🇸
Thank him in heaven
