well said and can i add: popular music is popular because it's played, it's not played because it's popular. It's therefore probably a good sign if you have to go out and search for music before finding anything good. sit back and enjoy, i think this is class.
great tune, they seem like a really good band. I love this new folk, rock, country stuff that i'm hearing at the moment. reminds me of old crow medicine show.
they are from uptown new york..when they played in oxford mississippi i got to go back stage and chill with them, really cool down to earth guys..james and ian seemed pissed off they didnt get to play longer but other than that they handed me a bud light and drank a beer with me, in MS thats says alot when you do that
For anyone looking for a version like this Simone and James do it on Simone's live album From the Violent Banks of the Kaaterskill. There's also a Felice Brothers studio version on a new 10th anniversary vinyl edition of the self titled album but I haven't heard it.
A little Rest of this Song you can find on an Album by the new sidechain Project of Simon called "The Duke & the King" the Album titled "Nothing Gold can stay"
This song, slightly altered, i.e. no cocaine references, appeared on the Duke and the King album - Nothing Gold Can Stay, featuring Simone Felice of course.
good idea , lets do it! I have found one studio version of this song but i was nowhere near this good maybe that's why it didn't show up on either album . Shoulda put this live version out though coz it has it in spades!
It was meant to appear on The self titled album (The Felice Brothers) I dont know for certain, but i suspect they replaced it with the song Dopn't wake the scarecrow, as it has the exact same chord sequence and a very similar song layout. I love both songs, but dont wake the scarecrow was the song that originally opened my eyes to the brothers felice.
@Killerwolfd777 Yeah they seem quite comfortable with it now, I read an interview and they seemed to be pretty annoyed. But they didn't do any favours naming a song "katie dear", when the basement tapes holds an album called "dear katie".
Ops I'm drunk on gin and ginger and replying to my own comments lol. I've just listened to both albums and felt i had to listen to this to finish of the set , really don't seem finished without it !!!
Agreed with killer, though why care if people compare them to dylan? I would think of it as a compliment. I did read a review for one of their albums that said they were like dylan, but with the ability to hold a note. Was interesting.
@Killerwolfd777 Give me more amazing bands to check out!!! You know that feeling you get when you find your new favourite song? You just gave me, like, a million new songs to check out!!!
@MitchellWilsonMusic Correct man, I like it when someone bothers there arse to find out what a song is about.. Harriet all the way. I have to say, I like the Duke & King version better!
America may have been worth it just for this brief moment in time. First time watching and I can tell I'm gonna be coming back again and again.
