From darkness, from prison, from torment and pain, to bright light and freedom, to comfort and blessing, and now there’s heaven to gain. From dim-lit to brightly burning, from sin-stained to white as snow, from dead to born again. Have you not heard, do you not know? But by the grace of God I am who I am - This God is mine forevermore! ‘Cause I’m not defined by the tempest, the storm, the struggle that’s raging, the spirit that mourns. He took me from ashes and made me to shine, not by mere chance, but eternally designed. And this I know, it’s He who lives in me, who took me once chained, and then set me free.
