My Peerless Assassin Inner Fan started squeaking after 6 months, had to replace it already.
thats the beauty of air coolers, just buy another fan
One of my stock fan did have similar issue under 1 year.
I've experienced high-pitched noise during high CPU load for months, and finally decided opening my case today to trace the root cause just today. Turn out it's one of the stock fan from PA 120. After removing the fan cleaning it, and installing it back, it runs quite again - but I know it's about time to looking for the replacement if the it happens again.
BTW, I've running it with 13700KF
Talk about timing , I'm trying to find a tower cooler for an i5 12400 in an Acer , has to be 12cm tall max , talk about hard work lol
Excellent job as usual there thank you 😊
Turning off the case fans really negates the results. If you want to test noise of two fans then just plug in two fans and test them. If you want to test the cooling performance you don't knee cap both of the fans by sticking them in a hot box.
The noise of fans is also dependent on how they're mounted. Many fans start sounding annoying when you strap them to a heatsink. This is a real world test. Most people don't use open air test benches
I find if you cap the included PA120 fans to about 1100 they are damn quiet and still give similar performance, depending on the CPU and setup of course. You aren't getting the full performance but if that's your goal then should probably grab an 280mm+ AIO considering it's probably still cheaper than the noctua fans.
Yes! I think this is the most sensible option
My ocd would force me to swap out fans to brand/color match my case Noctuas.
Temperatures are same ?
I already had a Noctua u12a, so I had 2 NF-a12’s in black that I put white ends on. I went with the white Peerless Assassin 120. I’m using an AsRock x570 Taichi Razer edition with a Ryzen 9 5950x. I have 2 140m fans in front, 1 in top and 1 in rear on a beQuiet Pure Base 500, so it accepts a 140ml fan at the rear, which was one of my deciding factors. I have a P14 up top. For me, the fan swap did make a difference both on idle and when being pushed, and as you mentioned, it sounds way better. Also using a Thermal Grizzly Kryosheet.
I had 2 extra Lian li al 120 that i slap onto my non se version and the kept about the same noise but with a slightly better performance all while looking way better so yes changing fans does affect the cpu coolers if anything at least in aesthetics
id just put 2 arctics on it for 20 bucks and call it a day
This is definitely a more sensible option
Is the stock frost spirit 140 better then peerless assassin 120 in terms of performance and noise?
I don't own the frost spirit but I looked it up, if there is a difference between that and the Peerless Assassin 120 I would expect it to be a very small difference at best - go with whatever you prefer the look of
@@SmallBoxCentral by the way which one you would suggest to buy now from deepcool ak620 and pearless Assassin 120 if I don't want to change the stock fans?
Weird, Noctua's own cooler revisions mostly get their performance jumps from the new fans rather than new technology.
Thanks for the test!
Does the cpu cooler suck hot air from the gpu ? With the new open backplate gpus
I have a setup fairly close to this, the GPU hot air issue can be effectively negated by adding 2 120mm slim fans below the GPU if your clearance allows for it
Thank you :)@@JayZero4
Why didn't you try bequiet fans, since they have less coil wine
The profile of the sound is different but it's still obnoxious.
I have the thermeright with 7 heatpips for my 13700k with noctua fans, test soon comes
Tell me how it goes! The 13700k gets hot

Tell us results!
His house is now an igloo
why dont u just get a noctua cooler
Too expensive! I already had the Noctua fans so this video was more of a test to see if the fans actually make a difference to the temps. I would love an NH-U12A but I don't want to sell a kidney
"Why don't you just buy a Dell". We often choose the custom built path not because it's easier, cheaper, or better. Sometimes you just want to go your own path.
@@candycornpeeps i didnt know that he already had the noctua fans, and it would've been almost the same price
I had the Noctua NHU12A with that case and its true that its a nice cpu cooler but Ive seen alot of reviews where that thermal right cooler gets exactly the same performance and in some cases even lower temps wich is nuts!!
@@denisnatera3633 well there is that deepcool assassin iv also but idk how that performs
There was again this stupid worst weird humming by noctua vs the org ones which was only made one wind noise and that is even not the money worth from noctua. Even when better test, the sound is a no go and only crap, shame on you noctua and even after so many years you even dont do anything against it. Damn austrians...
Yeah i had issues with Noctua fans on front of my case making weird humming noises, switched to Be Quiet fans and no issues. I'm looking at getting this cooler on my next upgrade, and if i replaced the stock fans I'd go with Be Quiet.
