- If you've exercised all your options on trying to get a stuck on oil filter off, and have went to the extreme of driving a screwdriver through it, and using the screwdriver as a wrench, and it just saws it in half. Watch this video!
I just want to thank you for this! You have saved me so much money and so much trouble. I finally gave up after trying everything else and scheduled a tow truck for the next morning. I sat down for the night and checked for any other ideas that I could try and I found your video. Went back out to the car to try this but I didn’t think it would work and it did. I was so happy after being grumpy about the whole situation. Thank you again for saving the day.
So glad I could help you out! I know the frustration, time, and money that comes with these things. And you never know, a buddy may call you one day with the same issue, and you'll now have a trick to show them.
Best video yet, no welding or cutting sockets. Just a simple way to get it off. I can't wait to get home to try it.
WOW!! This video is the ONLY one that helped me getting a shred oil filter off my Scag zero turn mower. The way the engine sits, the is NO ROOM to get any thing else in there other than a small, short pair of needle nose pliers Then, after I was already exhausted, it took 5 more minutes of tugging and pulling with all my might, then the base of the filter finally turned like 1/256th of an inch, which got me exited. Being there was no room, I had to re position the pliers multiple times, but it finally moved the filter little by little. After cussing like a sailor for an extended period of time, it FINALLY spun free. Now I need to say my prayers and ask for forgiveness for my sailor's mouth. THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!
Really glad this helped you, and probably saved you from having to call someone and potentially spend extra money
Thanks for helping us out bro. My friend doing my oil change was about to lose his head. Your method worked, with a little help from me hyping him up 🤣🤣
I’m in that exact situation right now.
You’re much calmer than I am.
About to redline this bitch and drive it straight to the scrap yard.
I accept defeat after a couple hours. But after this video was able to spin it off. Thank you🙌
You are very welcome, my friend! Im glad you found success in that damn thing! Drinks on me!
“watch the sharp metal” looks down at my cut open hand 😂😂😂😂
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 this is pure RUclips gold right here. You should win their award and start getting paid like asap
I had a tight filter and the metal strap filter wrench kept slipping so I used some sandpaper between the wrench and filter and it came off a dream.
That's a good idea man!
I appreciate this video, hopefully this works my last option same thing happend to me and now I have nothing to work with filter is shredded from the screwdriver trick
I owe you a beer pal thank you so much
I will gladly take that beer buddy! Im glad this helped you!
You could put a decent sized extension in the handle to use leverage
I didn't even think about that 🤔🤔
All the other videos had complex processes involving drill presses, spot welders, metal grinders, and spare metal tubing pieces to be cut by a saw. Like, who has hella stuff laying around to simply make a tool? Those at home with them would never go to RUclips to look, so all that is irrelevant. This video hits different, a needle nose pliers and some muscle 💪🏽💪🏽I got that!
I shredded mine just like that today and had to walk away from frustration lol Tomorrow I will be doing the needle nose trick 👍
Lmao, same. I just shredded the old oil filter on my 2001 3.8L v6 mustang. The frustration was real lmao
Best solution that I have got among all the youtube videos. Thanks bro. It did worked for me. But now I have arm pain. :P
Thank you for the video, I have this exact same issue with my 2016 Jeep, going to give this a shot!
Exactly the problem I'm currently having. I'll try this tomorrow.
Thanks. Your method worked. For me, I used break bar to turn the pliers so it was easier to make it loose. Before using break bar, I thought I need to buy other tools.
Thanks mate, I now know there is hope for my Kawasaki ZX14 filter! Obviously Installed by a gorilla at the dealer last time.
Gorilla 😂🦍
Just watched this today and it did the trick. Thanks for sharing! It was frustrating and not an easy thing to do, but it's done. Thank you!!
Thank you for your comment, and I'm really glad this little trick saved you from more hours of frustration and anxiety!
I have used this same teckneek since before multy media. Before you ask I'm 71. You still have to shred the filter off. To get the needle nose plier tips in there. But hay good job. My step son is a nother one that has a grip of an ape he has caused me this same greef twice now. I told him next time he will be the one shreding the filter and trying to get the needle nose pliers to stay in the holes while he turns the fillter off.
Hei ! I’ve tried everything , even this idea , i’ve broke the tool and is still stuck , after a few hours i dont even feel my hands . Im in Norway so waiting for the tool would take too much time .But thanks anyway . Was a good idea :)
Thank you! I haven't done it yet but I am getting ready in case things go wrong.
Thank you so much
It work for me .
Blessings 🙏
Thank you you come up with a very smart idea
Thanks for the tip!! Going to try this.
I hope it helped you!!
great tip thanks
Wish me luck! The frustration been real!!
thanks for that tip.
i grabbed mine with a big pair of channellock pliers and used a wrench to spin the channellocks pliers
THANKS BRO!!
I bet if you put a pipe or extention or something between the handles of the pliers you could gain better leverage.
thanks jobe
I had to use a Crowbar and the pliers man, fuck. lol
oil filter doesnt get tight, everyone thinks that, the rubber seal hasnt had oil smeared on it before installation and it welds itself to the alloy housing with the heat of the engine and no lube, ALWAYS smear oil on the rubber ring before installing the oil filter and you will NEVER have this problem
False. I always do this and mine won't budge.
I’m bouta try this
I would also like to add for anyone who happens to view this video, they do make a tool that fits on the end of a socket wrench that can go in the same little holes that I put my needle nose in. If you check out Bogert Aviation, they have a video demonstrating how to get a stuck oil filter off using their tool, and you can specially buy the tool.
I watched several videos trying to figure out how to get my mangled oil cap off! Your video helped the most! I was about to give up until you mentioned using needle nose pliers! It was the only thing that worked without buying a specialty tool! Thanks for your help brother!
@@ericbennett8376 man. . im super glad this helped atleast one person! Youre welcome buddy! Thank you for your kind words!
@@jobejones3295 this worked for me tried everything to remove it then seen your video and tried it twisted it loose after really muscling the pliers
@@jasonrobinette9992 sorry I talked so much in the video instead of just getting to it! Super glad it was able to help you! Literally used all my might to torque it off but once I finally felt it break loose it was almost the same feeling as purchasing a new car haha
I'm about to put a screwdriver threw this let's hope it doesn't shred what's left of this filter.😬 If it does I'm definitely gonna try this
Currently having trouble with that I have a Toyota Camry 2019… man anger to rip off the oil filter like that any other advice on how to to do that???
You tried with the pliers?
@@josemarin6940 can you get a long screwdriver or punch and try and tap it loose?
@@jobejones3295 I’d like to send a pic to show you but can’t do it on RUclips
3:00 to avoid my chatter and get to the working point. 😅🙃
5 minutes latter of the story. Cant get to point
I did apologize for the excess chatter in the video. Was just trying to tell the story and explain some things. 🙃 good day buddy
