    Can't thank you enough for this video... same problem here on a classic 71 Camaro. Shredded the thin walled filter housing as the STUPID shop that changed my oil (I didn't have time to do it myself) must have torqued that sucker to 25 lbs... I called them and they said they hand tighten only.... BS. Anyway got this Talon and it worked... thanks again!

    Got a chuckle from this. Really cool tool. I have had some hard time with filters that should be hand tight. Need to see that air cleaner installed

      The original valve covers are restored as well. I’m waiting on the original wing nuts from the polisher and then I’ll do the oil cleaner/valve covers at the same time.

    What an interesting problem. I've noticed that the steel wall of new filters seem to be very thin these days, and when it buckles I wonder what I'll do next. Here you show a great solution. I have an adjustable, variable pin spanner wrench kit that might be worth a try, before spending dough and waiting for a specialty tool. Great video, I laughed at your frustration, hopefully you can laugh now too!

    OMG. I believe I am the previous owner of that ford pickup with the 292 Y block. Mine was the unibody where the bed is built onto the cab and was a 1963 model. And those chrome Y block covers are the same as the ones I paid 20.00 for. Heres the time frame. In the beginning of 2005 I gave it to a rickard silsby in exchane to mount the hood and left fender and re paint a 1989 lincoln town car at earl shiebs paint shop here in Houston Texas. On the oil filter I ran into the same thing on a 2002 harley last Sunday in where I had to screwdriver it to death and worked inward all the way to that filter metal flange, and what I did was use a stanley chisel to beat it from the side until I got it off. If your ford truck is the one I had, I still have the original valve covers that are factory red with the punch pressed ford in them and it was the C2AE block 292

    Made a hand tool by drilling largest adjustable spanner jaws and threading 2 bolts which located in shredded filter holes. Spen 4 hrs failing until I did that. A friend told me to use a hacksaw blade to cut seal and break hydraulic lock but too little space mine worked fine. Long bolts allowed me great leverage too

    Ok just a few days ago I have the same problem then I purposely take the tin metal off and when I got to those holes I grabbed a flat screw 🪛 driver put it to one of the holes and hit the screw driver with a hammer 🔨 till started turning, simpler solution!!!

    • @NTrails2002
      @NTrails2002 5 месяцев назад +1

      I used a screwdriver in one of the holes, then tried to get swinging room with a hammer... NO MOVEMENT! Unfortunately it's a Genuine GM filter stuck on there, and the plate has 16 holes in it, so needless to say, they're very small, so only a P1 driver will fit in them. I put 2 in adjacent holes, then tried twisting the pair together... NO MOVEMENT. I thought to buy this tool and try it, but I bet the bolts that it uses won't fit into the small holes in the filter plate. I was gonna drill a few out to larger size to fit, but don't really want to put a bunch of drill filings into the oiling system of my LS motor.
