The first age gap relationship I was involved in, when my elderly neighbours met her, told me ... those people whos opinions matter to you wont mind your relationship as long as both are happy and legal... those people that mind your relationship are the people whos opinions dont matter to you.
This is the best advice I have heard, not just for relationships but for life too.
👍 📧 excellent good information I would be considered upper middle-class close to the rich category I don’t judge women on their status of employment as long as she is a good hearted kind person with family values that’s why I’m interested in Filipino women western women have Lost those values
IMO it’s a real bad idea to tell anyone what your income or assets look like, You will attract the wrong kind of attention.
If you bait your quarry with more sugar than you are willing to keep flowing you will soon find yourself alone and with fewer assets than you had before you started the foolish game.
In real life you keep your mouth shut, but who knows you online?
Great video
Very valuable intel
Nice Video
Good informative video Gio! Thanks and stay safe!
This is great! Thank you!
You bet!
Good information, I hope guys listen to this
I’ll be honest, I wanted an actress or model when I first got to the PI. Didn’t even come close. lol
But I tried.
But I will also not complain at all
Nice video Gio, it’s all about being happy and financially healthy that really matters.
statistically that's the breakdown of classes according to earnings but for most Filipinos the upper middle class is already considered rich for most. If you have a private car or a condo that you own. You are already considered Rich by the locals
That is very true!
These type of streams are very enlightening... 10,000 pesos or somewhere around $200 didn't really have specific meaning to me in the Philippines until I learned many of my wife's relatives work full time jobs for 10,000 pesos per month...
Also full time in the Phil's is 10 to 12 hours a day, 6 days a week. That's far more than the USA 8 hour, 5 day work week.
As a rich minimalist, most of my bank will go toward entertainment and charity within the Philippines. It may sound reckless, but these goals are well planned and managed.
Based on services provided, I see attorneys are also overpaid in the Philippines 🤣😂
It's a crying shame that things are so expensive in the USA. I've always thought I was middle class, now I see that I'm poor and can only be middle class if I live in the Philippines when I retire. 🤣
Steve try working the Philippines salary and live monthly expenses in the Philippines. You wouldn’t survive and end up going back in usa and working overseas for higher wages.
You're spot on Gio. When I come over, I'll have a monthly income that will put me squarely in the lower end of the upper middle class. And that's fine by me. I'll be able to live comfortably. And the girl I'm interested in is not rich (nor is she poor). But we should be able to live a comfortable life together and that's all I'm looking for.
Well, I just did a conversion on my monthly pension and it's 462,794.43 pesos a month, I feel so rich now, it's 4 o'clock here in Arizona and I just got finished eating my Marie Callender's chicken pie and Walmart brand french cut string beans.
Marie Callender has amazing pot pies and also regular pies.
@@GiointhePhilippines I know, I love them, much better than Swanson's chicken pies I used to have when I was a kid back in the 60s.
back then they cost around $.18
I remember Swanson well, I used to buy them for like 5 per dollar. How much does a Maria Callender pot pie run nowadays?
@@GiointhePhilippines they come in two sizes, I buy the small ones and they are $2.45
@@GiointhePhilippines I just went shopping on Wednesday and I just went through my trash and found the receipt, the Marie calendars was $2.98 and that was for the small one. The bigger ones are like $450 I think.
Passando e deixando o joinha.
Truly blessed to be well into the "rich" category. Looking forward to visiting the Phillipines for the first time, later this year.
Based on the chart, I’m well above the rich line, very blessed for sure and I don’t take that for granted; my heart bleeds for the poor in any country😢
Let’s say very comfortable 🤔😎
Without reading all the comments, I think we glazed over the statistic that the economic classes are based on a family of five (5) people. Most foreginers that come here are solo, maybe two people. Families do relocate, but are not the norm. So many foreigners, as a solo person would be able to live a life on a higher level than if they came here as a family of 5. So yes, a solo foreigner with a 2 - 2.5K USD monthly income will live more like the family of 5 who are in the Upper to Rich category.
I do agree that most are dating down on the economic and society class scale.
Then I feel lucky because I bring in 4k a month between a pension and ssi, but once I do take the plunge and make it there establishing myself will be #1 and once I do meet someone, it won't matter what she makes, it will be how much peace she brings to my life
bear in mind, the breakdowns for the income classifications you showed were for a family/household of *5*. For a household of one (expat), I would think the tiers would be a fair bit lower.
In the US we talk about rich/poor based on savings, not earnings
EXTREMELY HELPFUL VIDEO With TONS of Info that I Have WONDER About, for a WHILE ( I Even, Took NOTES ) :)) lol
Glad it was helpful!
Very interesting financial information and you detailed this very well Gio. My wife and I were surprised by these figures.
AmFil couples we know personally here in the US the past 25 years is that upper income older guys with a good prenup with educated "good" Filipinas have generally better and lasting marriages.
Generally speaking reliable good men with a somewhat educated "good" Filipina age gap under 15 years have a good chance of success here.
Over the years we've seen about 40% of couples divorce. So there is real risk.
The mans income, their age gap and Filipinas background are key indicators of success or failure.
very informative!
Hi Gio, I enjoy your videos and it’s very informative. I’d be considered on the lower end of rich with my social security disability and my pension. I’m divorced and would love to move to the Philippines and meet a beautiful Filipina.
I'm in the lower middle class Gio I can't travel or buy the most expensive things here in the Philippines even though I've lived in America for most of my life
Yes Gio you are correct.
My filipina wife was a bank clerk making about $250 a month.
I will be rich when I arrive there, but it takes 4 different sources from my lifetime to get there.
If anything happens to me, my wife and daughter will be setup nicely.
This was a very helpful video Gio. Thank you.
I'm retired and middle class widower i I'm going to Dumagutue but I seen this video on utube I think it was San Palbo on Mindino look real nice
Senior Canadians have about 1800 to 2000 a month, but if they receive the guaranteed income supplement they will lose that portion of their pension which is aprox fourty per cent if they live outside of Canada for more than six months of each year...
well.. that sucks
Australians lose the supplements as well and the pension rate is similar to Australia but our dollar is worth less now. CAD 2000 = USD 1463, AUD 2000 = USD 1320. That is why Thailand is not an option for retirement for Canadians and Australians on basic pension as the visa requirements are higher.
Somebody has to support their marxist overlords
OK -- so I will actually - be - 'middle class' - but be looked at like I'm really rich ? -- Thanks for the heads up on that one !!! 🤔 Life is seldom 'fair'. -- Living frugal & thrifty may perhaps convince them that I'm certainly - 'not rich' - when asking for their help finding the deals ?!? -- Time will tell but I won't be renting the extravagant places you typically do. Small thrifty studios cheap to clean and cool are fine with me. 🤗
Thank you. That was very informative 😊
Thanks for the info Gio, but you have to consider expenses as well. Some people with over 200K per month are living month to month and others in the middle class have homes and vehicles purchased so their expense to income ratio is way better.
Good point!
Based solely on my monthly passive income and that chart you have shown us I would be categorized as "Rich" by Filipino standards. But we dont live rich. We are big fans of Macdonalds breakfast and their coffee rather than going to Starbucks. We live well below our needs, and we mostly focus on quality of life, in order to get the greatest value out of it.
Besides what i have. My wife and I also own alot of properties there in Tanauan. We rent them out as well. That's her side business. We're just simple people. And we love each other.
I think many families here have a OFW sending money to the family. The malls food places are pack on the weekends. More than 1/2 full midweek. I see 2m php vehicles all over the place. 150k+ scooter everywhere. Numbers don’t add up
Me upper mid. Avg SSA is like 1800.
Happy versus unhappy is the only question. This question of the day is the obsession of the unhappy trying to make themselves feel better. Excellent video though.
Great info Gio, I am moving there as soon as I can sell my car. I have most of my balikbayan boxes packed and doing the health certificates for my dogs. ( just have to do the vet visit prior to travel) I will fall in the middle middle class over there, I have gotten used to living a simple life since I have retired and I don't think that will change once I get there. The cost of living is so expensive in Tampa now that if I stay here I will have to work until I die. Just my rent is $600 more per month than my SS.
Yes! I live in Melbourne Florida 🇺🇸 in a newer 2BR, 2BA apartment $2,300.00 USD plus utilities and internet. Car insurance is crazy high too, clean driving record, 2021 base model Toyota Camry, 210.00 USD per month. Food costs are $$$$ PHUCK 🤦♂️
Hey gio do you have any stats on the average savings accounts for Phil
Ipimos😊
gio this is a good video this will give every one a real good starting place to know how much money they may need to live in the philippines. what i would say to any one planing to move to philippines is1. pay off all your debts you own money too or get riad of them like your credit cards bills you pay every month its time to pay them all off if you have a loan for a car or house pay them off or sale them. well for your house if you still owe money is to higher a property management to rent out your house at the lest for you car if you still owe money play it off or just sale it or jsut get ride of it. now that you do not have all those payments you are paying each month you will find out that you really do not need lot of omey to live on even in the usa. but after you do all that try to live on as little money that you can live on in your owen country before moving when you find how little money you truly need to live on then pay off all your debts you owe money to and you will find out that you need even less money then you think you need. do all this you will know how much money you need then or a real good ida how much money you need then.
That's unfortunate. I was hoping that wasn't the case.
I would be rich if a stayed working, but in retirement I guess middle to upper middle.
I honestly hoped the age thing wasn't about money, but clearly it is.
I wouldn't say it's everything.
Before she met me, my wife had been chatting with another guy for a year or so.
She broke it off with him.
Yes finances are a factor, but not the only factor, and I believe for most filipinas that it is not the ultimate factor.
The reality is that it is a trade off - we get a beautiful sweet humble godly younger lady, and they get an experienced faithful established man.
Is that a bad trade?
No I think it's a good trade.
The reality of it is ok, as long as you are ok with it.
Which obviously many men, myself included, are ok with.
I'm in the lower middle income right now. We're talking passive here. I'm only in my 30's so the sky is the limit over time.
You're doing well
A couple things you didn't consider or mention. Those incomes were for a family of 5. Money goes a lot further for 1 or 2 compared to 5.
1) In the US for a family of 5 to be "middle/middle" (or barely upper) class, they would need a $100-120k income. If a single guy has a $120k/yr? Way different.
2) Most expats do not have to work for the money. It comes in automatically, and usually increases every year. If someone works and makes $90k a year, working 50-55hrs a week. They make decent money.
If a person gets $90k/yr TAX FREE? That's almost independently wealthy.
Very clear and useful video. It's difficult to ask to a filipina how much she get. If you earn a lot, you have to do low profile and sometimes no tell the truth. Thanks for sharing good resume
Yes, true
I have seen these charts before but the one thing they don't say are we talking gross or net? I am sure that they pay taxes in the Philippines
and I would think there is a difference in what people make and what they take home as disposable income. That is the important number.
I wonder how many in the Philippines actually have 280000 peso to spend a month, or expats for that matter.
Thanks again GIO...upper middle for me in the Philippine...and when I get my pension in Canada...!!! ??? I will be poor in Canada😇
I’m definitely not rich or close but I’ll have to enough to take care of me and that’s what matters to me
I know you put the average but the median would paint a better picture
The fact that you are a foreigner will subject you to the foreigner price which in some cases may be much higher then what the Filipino will pay....thus it will bring you down to a lower bracket.
Rich
I was making bucket loads of cash flows at the Dryden Hotel of Subic Bay till it burnt down back in the day, that also took out 7 lives.
Interesting. Combining your statistics I would say 2000 USD outside greater Manila area will be considered real rich. Maybe not by the first rather artificial definition. But the second statistics just shows that people earning 2000 usd monthly are pretty rare. So 90 % of Filipinas will consider you a catch at least financially.
Keep in mind that the first statistics is Family income. Basically that is all under same roof. That is a fluid number here. You as a foreigner can lift a whole household to upper middle class.
Yes, and something tells me that they know that
This is one of the issues with 'falling in love' in this country: the socio-economic gap. Does the woman love you for your wit and charming personality or because of what you can do for her and her family? Only time together will tell.
For me, I don't care about financial status.. whether his poor or rich, if he shows that he loves me and cares about me and is loyal to me and be honest with me and would really work things out with me through actions.. I will surely fall in love with him.
I love that.
I don't know who she is, but I am faithful to her now. I am willing to wait. She will not just be my lover, but will be my best friend, confidant, and the one I cuddle with. I am willing to wait.
@@JeanPierreLafiite
Keep fighting for true love. She will be worth it. Trust me.
Money is not my worth although im good with my funds,i think its fair to say how am i living as a person.how am i treating myself & others,SELF WORTH MORE VALUABLE& HEALTH THAN ANY AMOUNT OF MONEY..ONWARD ON THE JOURNEY
Is this income after tax or before tax?
I'll be considered upper middle class being 100% disabled veteran and SSDI monthly pay
Hard for em to say cause I collect S.S and that’s a fixed amount but I also withdraw from my retirement account. Also it depends on who you ask as well. To those workers making 200-300 usd a month someone making 2,000 a month looks rich.
Where I live in the West, 240,000 pesos a month is the beginning of middle class. But the prices are high too.😢
🙀
thank you Gio for discussing such important helpful topics
My pleasure!
Same in the west. If you earning 7 figures a year people will be in your inbox or asking you for handouts. Keep it to yourself.
Well said
Money is nothing more than a tool doesn't make you anything it's how person acts with me I know ritch guys I wouldn't spit on because there such dicks and poor people who are the best people I ever met money good to have enough of but makes you nothing as a person to me and most women I've talk to feel the same way
I’m definitely ready to get back to the Philippines. 🇵🇭 You can totally live a better life in the Philippines
Yea, I don't blame you.
I’m considering coming back in the near future. Give it a second shot 😝 gotta love how much further money goes there.
What area would you try?
Oddly enough I would come back to Dumaguete or Cebu
Developed and central to a lot.
Is the 1st chart based on a single individual or family unit?
Household of 5
I came from a very poor family, but through the hard work of my parents, we finished studying and been working abroad for quite a long time. I still consider myself in middle class even though I had different investments in the P.I.
I should have enough for a cute live in maid and a travel buddy or two. How much fun you have really is more important!!
Middle, Middle Here
I guess I may be considered rich there
I made rich.. by almost double.. yay lol
I fall in the rich category but want to keep expenses around $3,300 for the next two years. When I travel, I'm willing to spend up to $7,000 a month.
You can basically do everything in the Philippines for $3,000 a month budget unless you're really doing extravagant spending
@@bangwior multiple woman
I see great honesty in this video. Let's be honest. If we were a good shit, have lots of money, able to find a decent woman. We would not move to some place else.So.We have many missing things. So Ph and poorer countries sounds better for us.
At this time. I am a middle class of Middle class in Ph,according to your chart. I can be a very rich in Ph in a very short time.
You know to me the people in the Philippines really not that much different then the ones in the US or anywhere else for that matter. If they can feed, cloth and shelter themselves the look to make differs choices then they would if that is a struggle. Many women here in the US and I am sure in the Philippines once they earn well for themselves would find it hard to possible give that up for a man or for family life.
I have been living here for 15 mths. I am making 800 USD per mth. teaching English online. I only work about 20 hours per week. I can live off that and stay under that if I don't travel to another island. The 2 or 3 times that I did travel I went over by a couple hundred dollars. I did go to Thailand for 3 weeks in April and went way over...but it was worth it ha ha. I am less than a year away from early retirement. So just teaching until I reach that retirement income .
It's very easy with age gap relationships in my opinion. I'm in my 60's and WAY past the LOVE stage of my life. All I need is a little respect and kindness which I can't find in the USA. So if I meet and live with a much younger Filipina and she can provide a little respect and kindness I'm golden. I will share my monthly retirement gold to give her a better life. BUT if she turns out to be bitchy and unkind she will be shown the exit door. It's not difficult as I'm not asking for her true love. As I said, I'm way past that stage, been there done that already with former wife and 2 kids.
My VA Pension is about a CEO's Income.
Still shocking how low the pay is for the top jobs in the country.
As we usually don't discuss money, but according to the information provided plus 10% for inflation, I would say I still fit in the upper middle class range. I probably would leave a savings account or portfolio back in the States with a monthly contribution to that which would still leave me in the upper middle class range but closer to the middle class side . You really don't want to have too much more than what you need because you could actually make yourself a target for kidnapping. Bank employees don't make a lot of money, and your income information could be worth something to the right individuals. Now, I'm not saying that this is pervasive, but you should keep this in the back of your mind that you are not in your country and could become a victim. Do your budget, which includes an emergency fund or health insurance, depending upon your age, and leave the rest overseas. Let's say you are in the 2500 range and you really only need 2000 to live comfortably. That's 6k a year going into your savings and in three years you can have close to a million pesos. Keep in mind that when you hit a certain age you will be required to withdraw a certain percentage every year from your savings and investments . So 10 years of saving could get you a nice bump every year . These will be post tax savings like in a Roth account and if you do things right you can stay under the taxable amount and the percentage that you can earn before it effects your social security. I'm not sure if that's correct because retirement savings is not considered working income unless it's 401k savings. Regardless I digress and go back to just having what you need to enjoy your life and not a flashy lifestyle.
Never mention your financial status in the Philippines. You will know you find the right girl because she will ask no questions about money, houses, plans to spend, etc...
Lol, weak sauce. That like me hanging out in the doctor's break room and wondering if the ladies I hit on are doctors. The only question at that point is how much does she make.
The words "age is just a number" is a joke. It's all about money and get a better life. If guys think otherwise they fool themselves, the better educated and higher the income the less age gap. If the 60 year old guy is bf with a 20-30 year old woman and think it's love from her side is living on a illusion, would he when he was young date someone 30 years older than him, of course not. Personal I don't care what people do and how many years the age gap is if both is adult and agree on the relationship, but don't fool yourself and think it's love 😉
Not butterflies in the stomach love. But the relationship can still be loving and good
Facts 👌🏽👌🏽...best comment
A lot of these old fools actually think they these young women love them for their looks and swag 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Examples are the dumagete grandpa's 👴
Excellent comment
Sure, there are a few fools out there who think that their relationship is akin to him being what many would consider am ideal age compatibility, and often times they get fleeced simply b/c they think such.
Generally men get wiser as they age, and this is due to life experience, learning from others, etc. So they are well aware of their relationship status/situation....as in, hopefully they have found themselves a decent "companionship love" based on wants, needs, and compatibility.
Sure, its not the typical romantic, puppy love, new love, dreamy love, (that is usually quite volitile, and passionately unstable at times) that has alot of characteristics of infatuation. but it is a form of love in the sense of the word.
Break away from the mind numbing "Disney" programming, sport.
best honest comment. love it
So how much does it take on retirement to live in the Philippines while paying for your own medical comfortably?
Why do people in theb Philippines feel embarrassed to be " poor". ( i have seen this in a few vidios) My self and i bet a few there, are from non rich backgrounds. In fact i have seen some vidios frome the Philippines that look a lot like some old famly photos from how we say " back on the mountain" ( WVA / VA ) heck..... i know how a cool breeze blowing up my back side in the winter , sitting in the out house feels 😂
U need some decent cash. But in the Filipinas defense. No women hooking up with broke guys in the USA either
Gio when I get over to the Philippines I will be considered, Upper middle class, In America Im considered low income.
Poor in Western Europe/U.S. vs Philippines in terms of $ earnings is an abyss but the total cost of living is so much higher in the West...thus only seem rich. But the poverty us on another level. Poor people here in West may still own a bit older car. A poor person in West may seem relatively wealthy in the Phils, even he is not, and is in a low income bracket in his home country
Majority of the retired military that are also collecting disability are off the scale.
That highest paying job list is not accurate! I am filipino software engineer for a local company and earn 150,000 pesos a month. 😂. People working in globe telecom alone. A local company. their lowest office worker wage is 90,000 .
Over 100k , rich there, poor here in Hawaii, ready for a move 🤙over
i guess ill be rich in philippines a little over 8K usd (retired)
So 240k pesos per month is rich? That’s 4183 USD as of May 9. I’m retired. I’m not working in any way shape or form. My current income is 4200 but I don’t spend close to that. I’m living well and do local PI travel for less than 3000. But I don’t go to the bars and I don’t pay bar fines. As I said. I’m retired.
"Rich" is a word that means different things to different people. Why this is the case is because income is not the only factor determining "Rich". Wealth, including wealth accumulation throughout time is very important to determine being or becoming Rich.
hypothetical examples:
A fella who comes over here and pays in full for his home, and car(s), but yet brings in 100k pesos a month would most probably be considered rich by typical Philippine standards.
On another note, a spendthrift, gambling fella who pulls in 230k. Literally throwing his money away on all manner of BS. Is in debt to his eyeballs, and owns practically nothing. imho, wouldnt be considered rich, even though he may look so on outwards appearances.
Very high income, yes...but not rich.
Rich = having a decent amount of accumulated free and clear wealth, with an decent income and low to no debt.
Just normal women's hypergamy......buy what you can afford and enjoy your life
flife beyond the sea guy thinks they just love old men because they are unicorns in a world of gold diggers or just plain poor and need to get out of it. 20 something going for 65 yr olds lol
I am rich withmy va disabity check and free VA clinic in Manila
You mention statistics. Statistically most of us will see more low income workers in our day to day life. So "statisically" it stand to reason they will be the more common gf/partner option/result.
As a retired electronic engineer it is extremely unlikely I will meet a filipina at that "level" as i do not associate in those cricles any longer.
So rather than looks at stats here i would suggest is more about probability from which stats will result.
