I was actually pretty disappointed when Mercedes dropped out. I wanted to see more manufacturers in the series
Sadly the organisers messed that up, same reason Volvo pulled out as well.

It's been 4 years since Mercedes last race in Supercars.
Imagine what would have happened if Erebus kept the E63s. I'm sure Mercedes would have taken a look at it and given them support like Volvo and Nissan did.
I can't get my E63-S to do that at my local track. 🤔😂

No, the overall series is pretty much the same. Just a few regulation changes like allowing the mustang to race.
LarsonFan42 yeah just said in the supercars era bc some manufacturers were in the ATCC championship which evolved into supercars so saying in the supercars era just misses the ATCC out bc it’s hard to get footage

Were the Mercedes cars privateers or works teams?
Kind of a mix of both. Erebus Motorsports were the only team to use the Mercedes.
They now use the Holden... which David Reynolds is proving to be a real contender with, as he showed this year.
Only lost the Bathurst 1000 because of a bad leg. (Ouch.)
Private really as Mercedes put no money into the development of the car as it didn't fit their profile.

Why are they not in the series anymore?
Mercedes had decided to pull out and realized it wasn't for them and not what they were aiming for I believe, But as it seems they could be coming back for Super 2 or the Main Series.
The E63s were largely uncompetitive, costing a fortune to develop and the company wanted nothing to do with Supercars.
Contrary to what some are saying about Merc pulling out, it was actually Erebus who decided to race a Holden. Mercedes never gave Erebus manufacturer support to begin with. It got to the point where Betty said maybe its time for change
Lets hope they get a return and that erebus make them competitive
