Many successful authors almost quit. Masashi Kishimoto was going to quit if Naruto was a failure for example. As his previews works didn't work out he lost hope and thought after this one (Naruto), if it doesn't work out he would quit. It's weird but it happens a lot.

It's so interesting and inspiring to hear how many Manga creators are super successful with the series they choose to be selfish with, when they create a story they enjoy themselves. Not only Toni but also Kohei Hirokoshi who failed twice before he was selfish with My Hero Academia or Eiichiro Oda who stated many times that he writes a story that he himself would have enjoyed as a kid.

I actually got an opportunity to read the first chapter of Radiant and it was amazing in my opinion. I am from South Africa and it is quite rare to get good manga on the shelf, obviously aside from the mainstream ones. I really like Tony's work and I pray that he continues to do the amazing work that he does.
This gives me so much confidence, I want to make an American anime/manga but I've gotten comments and been told that I'm not Japanese or it's not made in Japan. I hope those realize that manga in an art style but everyone draws manga differently and express the story that is told! Soon I want to show the world that a non-japanese can make a manga and not be Japanese or have to be in Japan to make a manga. Thanks Whyt for this video! 🙏♥️

I woul cry of joy if Naoki Urasawa made a Manben for him. I'm not even a fan or consume Radiant that much, but he's a really huge hope for us Non-US mangaka, specially we who want to make manga as faithful as possible, not just some comic with popular anime aesthetics like most self-proclaimed "mangaka" do.
55:18 I've never met an arrogant Japanese Manga artist. They understand it's work and a blessing that so many people adore their creations. They don't take it for granted AND they respect the fact they are PARTNERS Publishers and Merchandising manufacturers.
I remember Radiant being a somewhat bland but okay series. Although I haven't looked at it for a couple years now so I don't know if the early writing improved. I just remember something about Mages bieng disciminated against but it was done in like ... the blandest and most heavy handed way possible. And also made little sense given they lived in fear of monsters and yet actively attacked the ones most capable of fighting them. Like I'd get if they were just heavily ungrateful and didn't accept them ... but they would actively try to get rid of them despite relying on them to stay alive. It was a sloppy executing that focused on using tropes without fully applying them to actual human behavior. But even with all that said I remember it being a passable series. I do remember the art being pretty good so the mangaka definitely has talent. They just needed to refine their ideas a bit more to be more engaging ... which again they might have already done. I put it on Hiatus a while back and haven't thought about it for ages. Might actually be about time to look into it again. To anyone still reading this how was the anime? Is it worth watching the anime and then switching to manga or better to just dive into the manga from the start?
Of course this is kind of a wild question but I’m going to ask it anyway. What’s the best way to start practicing getting into the field of manga as someone who doesn’t have much experience drawing? I’ve been writing since I was five and I’d like to at least teach myself the fundamentals of drawing characters, backgrounds, etc. but I’ve always been discouraged. Your channel has always been a very helpful resource in being able to do these things. Very passionate about the form and I’d love to start from Step 0 even.
