      The parents just didn't know when to call Larry and it's complicated not unless you know Larry and they didn't bother to know Larry abit more and just said "kaputz! Forget it, that guy doesn't want a call don't bother him". Idk if it was selfish of the mom or Larry but the middle line was so fogged it's blurry as hell. The parents won this one

      Shame he's gone now himself so we cant have anymore scenes like this, unfortunately alot of Curb's cast being older means they're out of the show, losing Funkhouser was a big blow since he was such a prominent part of the show throughout the 20 years.

    I love how in any other show the revelation of the main character’s mother dying would be such a poignant and solemn moment, but in Curb, the entire scene builds up to a punchline and the moment her death is revealed, you can’t do anything but burst out in laughter

    Of all the episodes over 11 great seasons this one and this scene grabs me the most. Shelley Berman's hesitation in breaking the news is a sublime piece of acting. As a Jewish kid who grew up in Brooklyn I can testify that Larry has tapped into the Jewish meshuga mindset like no one before or since. Hail to thee LD!

    The irony is everyone is shouting about Larry not calling his cousin when he’s in new York but neither his dad or cousin see the issue of not calling Larry when his own damn mother dies 😅

    Did anybody hear the old man mention having hard boiled eggs? He said it repeatedly like it was some glamorous meal.....plenty of hard boiled eggs.

      It was an inside Jewish joke. When the mourners come back from the cemetery and sit "Shiva" (the 7 days of mourning) at the first meal they eat an egg. Since no one coordinates a bunch of people end up bringing to make sure there are eggs. So if you open the fridge at a Shiva house there are always plenty of eggs in there.

    This is my dad. He never bothers to tell me important family news except when I see him at Christmas. Suddenly I'm finding out aunts and uncles died months ago, and a cousin I didn't know was pregnant had twins.
