Surf Fishing in Mexico Tips. Cabo San Lucas fishing from the Beach

- I go down to San Jose near Cabo San Lucas Mexico. The town is on the southern tip of Baja California peninsula. I didn't do too much fishing while I was there. But the conditions were tough and I didn't manage to catch for the first couple days. I did learn some tips that I share in the video from the local tackle shop and some fishermen that come down to Mexico annually. I did manage to catch some rooster fish, pacific jack crevalle and a green jack.
THANK YOU for watching! Be sure to leave a THUMBS UP if you liked the video and SUBSCRIBE for more videos coming in hot!

Tough conditions but you added to the life list . Awesome job bud ! Thanks for taking us along
Thanks.
Very nice video edit, and a beautiful area. Love the drone footage. Those roosterfish were awesome looking! Congrats on all the new species. That stinks on the gear you lost, but thanks for the heads up on this. Thanks for the video!
Thanks a bunch! Wish I had know about the security before I went but hopefully it helps others.
What a gorgeous place and beautiful fish-paradise!
I’m happy that you finally caught soon fish for your life list but even happier that you came to see us. XX
It was nice seeing you too. Hope it isn't so long till the next time.
Dude that roosterfish was insane! What an awesome fish, that trip looked like an absolute blast!
It was. Just wish it was longer.
Seems like Customs always have some kind of surprise in their regulations. That's a beautiful beach, and some cool fish, especially the Roostertail. Videos of folks catching Giant Roostertails from kayaks are very entertaining.
I think it is just to confiscate good fishing tackle from ignorant tourists. I wish I had a kayak out there. You could see just outside of casting distance schools blowing up the surface.
Beautiful location and congratulations on catching several new species for your Fishing Life List! The roosterfish were my favorite catches.
Thanks. I think they are cool too. I didn't know there was a difference between the jack crevalle you have and these but when I looked up the other fish I saw they were separate species.
@@PeelingLine There are several species of jacks throughout the World and all of them are strong fighters. Looking forward to seeing what you catch in your next fishing video.
@@Grouperhunter Not sure what I'll go for yet. Maybe chum salmon.
Great stuff, haven't done any surf fishing, but would definitely like to some day. Well done.
Thanks. I think you have direct flights to mexico and hawaii from there.
Rooster fish is really cool looking! Great video brother 👊
Thanks. Just need to get a big one now.
Would love to go fishing in Cabo San Lucas. Great job out there on the beach. Hope all is well my friend.
Thanks. I highly recommend it. It would probably be better from a boat. You could see big schools just out of casting range.
Surf fishing is so alien to me! Nice couple of species you got there, love roosterfish the big ones are beautiful beasts
It's fun especially when the water is warm. Up here you need insulated waders to do it. I agree with the roosters maybe next time I'll go on a charter and get some bigger fish.
Lots of cool species, dude! Love the fins on those rooster fish
Thanks. I do too. It's interesting that I went snorkeling and didn't even recognize them because they don't swim with their dorsal fins up.
Cool outing - nice mixed bag! That rooster fish looked cool! Tight lines my friend! Captain Zac
Thanks.
He's got his reel down on the beach!
Sealed Penns just need a rinse after. I'm still using that reel and no issues.
dont try that with a baitcasting reel or any reel that is not sealed ...
Awesome info thanks
Awesome surf fishing video! Cabo is a beautiful place to fish and visit! New sub👍🤙😎
Thank-you. I agree.
What a beautiful spot. Beautiful.
It really was. Made not catching the first few days easy to bare.
Going next week. Thanks for the video.
Awesome. Good luck.
I've always wanted to catch a Roosterfish. The pompano looked cool too! Looks like yoi had a nice trip. Tight lines!
The Piscatorian
Me too. I didn't expect them at all.
Seems like you had a pretty good day beach fishing my friend. I love beach fishing. The problem is I live too far away from the New Jersey beach. I don’t do a lot of travel so I don’t have to worry about it, lol. Great video my friend 👍👍
Thank-you. It's nice to fish the ocean but I understand fishing for what you have close by.
Another great video my friend
Thank-you
Very nice B-Roll!! Those Roosters and Jacks get massive! It would of been one hell of a fight if they were bigger, but very nice catches none the less! 💯💯💯💯
Thank-you. Yeah they do get much bigger and I'd like to get into them. But, I'm just happy to add them to my lifelist for now.
Thank you for sharing 👍
Man...you sure added to your species list. That's to bad you didn't get all your gear back. That rooster fish was pretty cool. Nice catches!👍
Thanks 👍. I am glad I caught a couple of those. They were one of the top fish I wanted to catch down there.
"Brush up on your Mexican" haha! Good to see you racking up new species.
I wish I had got more. There are a lot down there.
Great job.
Thank-you
Awesome 👍👍👍
So cool, interested, great fishing day overseas, big time....
Классная рыбалка 🎣👍
Cool specie's!!! Awesome
Thank-you
Dude that sucks that you just had to take a loss on your terminal tackle. The traveling and fishing gets complicated sometimes. But man you actually had a good time out there. I never have much luck anywhere that has a coast. Lol. Good job
Thanks. It can be tough. The first few days I didn't land anything. Just have to keep trying.
You did quite well catching new different species 👍🏻 I really like the Rooster Fish and Jack Cravalle. Both species can get really big in the deep water. 🐟 It was quite a learning experience. Dam no fish gear at the mexican Walmart? And they made you leave behind your hooks? That sux. Anyway, thanks for sharing your vacay in paradise, Peeling Line❗️
Yeah I definitely would do things different if I go back. Walmart app doesn't work down there either.
I can see why they call that a rooster fish. I've never seen one before. Nice catch!
Thanks. Interestingly they don't swim with their fins up so they are hard to recognize unless you look for the stripes on the side.
Sucks about your lures and tackle good heads up for others thanks for that👊 yeah some times talking to the local bait shop can get you some tips to get on the fish. Good work Brett 💪
Thanks. Sorry about the late reply your comment was held for review.
@@PeelingLine no worries man hope all is well happy holidays to you
@@buddywilsonhjh9147 happy holidays
Kind of weird there's no tackle at Walmart there. Those Pomfret are pretty cool. Cool experience fishing there.
Yeah it was. The walmart app also doesn't work down there.
Amazing sharing stay connected
Great video! Did you have to get a license? The rooster was a cool looking fish. a few new fish for your list nice.
Thank-you. I think you only need a license if you are fishing public areas or go on charters.
I read that no lic required when fishing from shores in Mexico is this really true?
Sangat keren sekali 👍👍ikannya bagus
You should come june or July thats when monster roosters come in same place @ dreams hotel good fishing good vibes
Thanks for the info. Do you use the same rigs for the big ones? I am coming back next month.
Surf fishing looks intense lol. Would probably go down in the waves crashing in
I actually did. They say don't turn your back on the ocean. I did while I was untangling my line and a wave took out my legs. Some big waves there.
nice catch. what tide do you remember when u caught it? I went during low.. no luck
Thanks. High tide.
This was genuinely fun to watch at first and then.... very painful to watch and unfortunately fish had to suffer with how bad you handled and released them.
I'm sure they will survive. They're not trout.
those bubbles work assume for trout i used to use them but thats weird about bringing fishing tackle back.
I have used them to fish flies for trout and they are great for that. Odd that there are different rules for what you can bring on a plane.
@@PeelingLine yea ive never been out of the country unless you ship the stuff home
Question, I’m going to Cabo next month. Should I bring my rod or tackle price is affordable there ?
I would definitely take your own. The tackle shop has crap hours and is expensive. Just remember leaving Mexico your rod has to be in checked luggage along with all hooks. They took some of my bigger leads as well so I would just put everything in the checked bag or leave it.
were you fishing off the beach in front of your resort
yes
Man that first fish had me laughing. Clean em off and he flops right back into the sand. Those rooster fish are wiggly suckers.
They really were. I am glad I got the last one because the first pic was all sand.
I can't believe you just throw your reel down in the sand!
None the worse for it. I might care more if it was an expensive reel but I got this one for $15 refurbished.
I cringed every time lol
Dont bring any sharp objects on da plane- same thing almost happened to me flying outta PV .
What's a hook going to do as a weapon? You can bring them on the plane in the US. Same with the fishing rod. I would like to see someone come at me with a fishing rod.
Tell them Raul el pocho sent you.
Cool video but every time you played your reel on the sand I had to cringe. Sand and saltwater aren't good for reels..
That pompano species you caught is prime bait for big rooster fish. The "green jack" should be great too for bait.
Thanks for the tips.
Great video! But fyi in Mexico we speak Spanish no "mexican language"
I know I was just joking.
It’s a rooster bud
