new edition were the temptations of the 80s and bobby was david ruffin even though they still had alot of good songs after he left you cant talk about NE and not mention bobby
I think this was the beginning of Bobby getting tired of their bubble gum style. He look like he wanted to open up his shirt and do the now-infamous Bobby Brown Pelvic Groove
@69erMiguel Ralph was the lead singer, but they also allowed Bobby and Ricky to sing lead on many occasions. However, Bobby usually "altered" the choreography. He would dry hump the stage, do pelvic trusts, that sort of thing. And he would refuse to relinquish the mic back to Ralph when it was his turn to sing. As a result, he was voted out of the group. He didn't quit, he was fired
When they were kids, they obviously skipped voice lessons. Yet, I still love the old-school New Edition. I love Johnny Gill but "bad boy" Bobby Brown made the group.
Bobby Brown makes NE better! His voice like it or not gives the group its grit. .............. I hope people will respected bobby and understand him more before he pass away one day. A real arties just misunderstood like most............
I AM HERE AFTER JUST NOW WATCHING THE NEW EDITION STORY TONIGHT. YES I AM LATE, AND I WATCHED THE BOBBY BROWN STORY BEFORE THIS STORY. HOW MANY OF YOU THINK THAT RALPH WOULD HAVE MADE IT IF HE HAD ACCEPTED THAT RECORD DEAL BY HIMSELF IN WHICH HE WAS OFFERED IN THE MOVIE? RALPH IS THE ONE IN THIS VIDEO ALL THE WAY TO THE RIGHT.
Yeah, they are lip-synching, they changed some of the instrumentals to make it seem as if they were actually singing. This performance must have taken place a few months or weeks(early or late 1985) before they kicked Bobby Brown out. The story was that B.Brown would sometimes do sexually-explicit dancing or wouldn't stop singing on his solo parts and they had to get rid of him. I'm guessing he did that stuff while performing Mr.Telephone Man during live shows. B.Brown was behaving himself here
Yes my cousin worked with them and their label,Bobby Brown was a mess, his head got to big, happens to some people! But I loved New Edition, Here Ray Parker Jr, on the guitar, Dam those were the days!
Bobby was my favorite from the beginning. I hated Ralph and never liked him until he dropped his first solo album. The best thing about New Edition is they gave us so much! New Edition, Bobby Brown, BBD, Johnny Gill and Ralph Tresvant all had great albums. Only a fool would be arguing if New Edition was better with or without someone instead of just listening and enjoying all of the talent this group gave us for so many years. My 8 yr old son is loving them right now!
You can always tell when they lip sing this song because, when Ralph sings "I TOLD HER SOMETHING MUST BE WRONG WITH MY PHONE, CAUSE MY BABY WOULDN'T HANG UP.....Bobby comes in at 0:56 "ON ME !!!!". But Ralph always keep singing on that part.
qmitch2 actually if you listen carefully. It’s Bobby that sings that part. Ralph sings it too for some reason, but it’s definitely Bobby’s vocals for that line
@tonyfears I totally agree with every word u wrote, you know the sad thing is when he is gone they're gonna say how he was a legend .... I wish ppl would just realize that today and give him the props and respect he deserves ( This goes to the music Industry too)
Yea,they lip sinced alot. The studio wouldn't let them use they're real voices when it started to change.though they could sing.Untill the worked with Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis,The Could shed there J5 Beginings.
that's how a lot of these broadcast stations were back then tho (even today). maybe it did have something to do with their voices changing but I don't think so. Most of these networks just don't want to deal with a live set up. Either they are lazy about it or don't have the right equipment. It's easier to just play a tape. Not only that.. if it's live then they don't want to risk making any mistakes on tv. I've worked in the industry for a while so I know why sometimes artists lip sync and sometimes they don't. But come concert time most people sing live cuz that's what they are there for. But for TV , award shows, etc. most often you will see lip sync.
@noirnoticvibe You're pretty much right about everything EXCEPT the Nsync part. It was Nsync it was NEW KIDS ON THE BLOCK but you're on the right track regardless.. He felt like right was right and it made more money but your'e right THEY WERE NEVER NEW EDITION EVER and STILL AREN'T. They TRIED to pull that shit back in the 70's against the Jackson Five with The Osmonds thinking that the world would better accept a white version of the Jackson Five it couldn't be done against MICHAEL JACKSON.
I see why BB left the group, it was way too boring. He did his best work as a solo artist. And he did it exceptionally well! Ralph sings like he inhaled helium.
Damn it would’ve been priceless to see a video of Bobby storming off the stage denouncing his membership in the group

I think it was because he probably wanted to open his shirt so bad infront of the female audience 😅

My fav early n.e. song cause we got to hear Bobby Ralph and Ricky all do their thing.
When they were kids, they obviously skipped voice lessons. Yet, I still love the old-school New Edition. I love Johnny Gill but "bad boy" Bobby Brown made the group.

It's interesting finding all these clips of New Edition before the miniseries. Catching up....
Its not Ft Bobby Brown because at this time Bobby was still in the group

ralph was so loyal and in the long end if he took the solo deal new edition wouldn’t be here today
@@lailanii I believe you are correct.

Bobby became David Ruffin
That's true. They were two of a kind.
